      What’s the warranty on these ? I saw o Reilly’s has them in two separate sets for 10 each in the titan brand. But they only have a 30 month warranty

    I got that set a few months back cause I thought they went with a non-maring stripped lugnut socket set. Damn that worked pretty good. I normally smear some valve grinding compound on the head if I feel it slipping. But now I'll remember these.

    I have one of those engines sitting at my shop right now. It done blowed up though. And here in northwest PA the the rest of the car is bad enough it isn’t worth another motor.

    What would you say the damage limit is for these to work? 50% rounded? 75%? They seem pretty cool and also pretty cheap, so I may pick em up anyway. I was just wondering how they worked compared to bolt biters, rocket sockets, flank bite, etc.

  • @Jpilgrim30
    @Jpilgrim30 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    First timing job on one of those I did in the vehicle. Every one since gets the power train dropped first. Soooo much less hassle with the engine out. 😆

  • @ltomczak92

    Put the bolt back in and see if it’s easier or more difficult with those flank drive plus sockets.

    I only tried them once on a trans oil pan plug, that was on really tight and already damaged
    But I dont recall if I had tried a different bolt extractor first,
    It didn't help.

  • @ecleveland1
    @ecleveland1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think you just showed me a great stocking stuffer for me! Now how do you plan on getting all that crap out of that engine? I guess I would try diesel with a little gas mixed in and use a parts washer brush but that will only clean what you can see. I'm sure you will drop the oil pan and clean out the oil pickup screen, I just hope something doesn't come loose and end up blocking an oil galley. I'm sure the galleys look as bad as everything you see now. I would have to put a clause in my warranty work excluding all that crud.

  • @TheMechanicj

    I assume you are doing that timing job....as soon as I pulled that first valve cover that phone call would be made and if they didn’t want a used engine I put valve cover back on and say its ready for pickpup no charge lol

    How does wally like those Matco screw drivers?(with oil hands) thanks
    Also how are u guys liking the matco ratchets vs the snap ons?

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We all like the Matco screwdrivers they work great. They are harder to clean because of that little grip patches they have on them.
      Matco ratchets are great. It’s personal preference but me and Wally both have been using the Matco ratchets

    If it’s a six sided bolt use a a six sided socket then you won’t have that problem
    don’t expect to be a cheap ass and get away with just a 12 point socket set
    Proper basic tools for the job keep you from having to buy expensive specialty tools

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well you see when you get one in that someone else has stripped it really doesn’t matter if you have 6 point or 12 point you will have to remove it just like we did and the extractor rings are the cheapest way out when you run into that.
