It seems like the Hera is basically the Hoshizora with an LY stem instead of P3. Older molds, springs, and leafs so I definitely lubed mine too get rid of the crap sounds. Is it ironic that I replaced them with Gateron Smoothies even though they aren't as oil slick smooth because they are tighter and didn't require any lubing?
i am kinda already tired of trying to fix the ticking myself, even the "premium" option (like durock pom and tangie) has this issue, but the budget option like almost every Switches from Jwick definitely suffers the most, even my friends who are not into this hobby has a comment like "is it broken? cause it sounds like something was broken inside". that's why nowadays i always avoid switches from JWK unless i have a themed build that looks better with switches from JWK and the other options were hard to get.
Weird observation: I swapped jwk stems into some inks, and they made the leaf noise so much worse. Putting ink stems in jwk housings gave them stick slip. I think the leaf noise is probably due to moulding in the stems and looseness
I bought a bunch of these on sale. I've come to the decision that they need to be filmed, but with that big light diffuser none of the ones I have on hand will work. Gotta order some thicc films or it looks like TX might work. The durock and nk films I have wouldn't unless I took the time to trim each one.
honestly thought jwk had solved the leaf noise around the time of the vertex v1 switches, got mine in my plateless hex4b with no foams and cant hear any leaf noise even with the HVAC off. maybe my wars are getting old 🤔
nope. still had to lube the leaf contacts to get rid of leaf ping. still had some stem wobble ticking in a minor portion as well after lubing. nothing has changed
I’m honestly not entirely unconvinced it isn’t a batch by batch issue. I had some of the OG Epsilons from Prevail Key Co (RIP), and had a small portion of my batch with leaf noise in stock form. A year or so later, I purchased some Epsilons from Ali Express (presumably newer stock), and they didn’t exhibit any leaf noise in stock form. Also I love the Hex4B, have one myself I’ve been waiting to build with some broken in MX purples once I get my hands on a Geon Stem Trimmer. I’d bed the Vertex V1s sound great in that board!!
How far JWK has fallen in terms of the standard of smooth and unique linears. HMX and BSUN and I would even say most haimu’s are kings in 0 crap sound switches.
Yeah it is crazy to look back at how JWK exploded onto the scene & how quickly their popularity fell off. I personally never had much of an issue with the JWK leaf ping as I usually go all out on a batch of switches that I will be using in one of my personal builds. Although JWK has still fallen out of favor with me also. Mostly due to pricing & always heavily preferring Cherry & Gateron switches with the proper work put into them. Then you have this new batch of manufacturers like HMX, TTC, Hamiu, etc. who are making top tier switches with little to no problems stock & selling those switches for much less than Cherry, Gateron (in most cases), & most importantly JWK. Which to me just erases JWK completely as an option. I think JWK too quickly forgot that a big part of their brand was built on value proposition. Back when $0.65 Cherry switches & $0.75 Gat Inks were the the norm sure a $0.55 switch that was pretty damn good stock sold well. Now that we have switches like HMX that are pretty much useable stock for most selling at $0.35 a piece & introducing all kinds of bespoke plastic blends to change up the sound qualities I find JWK switches to not only be overpriced for what they are, but much less interesting than they once were.
Really love the style of this video!
Me too my favorite keyboard community video channel. Professional on a totally other level.
@@kesamek8537 agreed!
Love the honesty! with hmx and bsun around it makes Jwk seem like they are overcharging for what they offer
Best mechanical switch reviewer on the internet.

Have you tried the Gecko silent linear switches?? Please make a review for them, thanks.

Love Maker Mods love style this video
new jwk molds unfortunately have this stem ticking noise that I managed to fix by putting 4 little g2 globes on the 4 corners of the top housing
i don't recommend JWK to anyone because of the stem wobble noise. but it seems most people don't even notice it or just don't mind it

They used different molds on the V1s. The default JWK molds are still shit.
@@NuhUhmm my ears* and zamn maybe they should make those the default molds going forward 🥺👉🏼👈🏼

Who even needs JWK when TTC and LICHICX exist?
ooof, jwk crap sounds still around. thats a no for me, esp when hmx and bsun exist
Def agree.

Hades LY stems have the exact same problem being wobbly and making a weird noice.
