This has happened to me a few times and before I knew the trick I tried everything I could to get the rod apart. This little trick has saved me on multiple trips.

Dude - I’ve had a plugging rod jammed for three years and have tried to pull it with mates and this took less than 3 seconds and minimal effort - thank you 🙏🏻

Clean both ends with rubbing alcohol. Then you can use ferul wax to help. Some rods also don't seat all the way

UPD: had to put rod on ice fist.

another video told to ice the rod, mine had been used in freezing temps and expanded indoors. cooling down and your grip worked.
Interesting, I was gonna say heat it with a hair dryer but didn't want you to ruin the finish
