Hey. Nice video. Had two surf rods that I couldn't get apart for a fee years. I se the video and thought if give it a try. Left a bag on ice on them for a half hour and BAM, came right apart. Thanks

Thank you very much.I just did the gloves method on a spinning rod(thinner,more difficult,could not find a way to grab it with power,it was slipping from my hands).It took only 2 seconds to separate,with the 20% of the effort i was using before.Luckily it was not necessary to proceed to the ice method.You just saved my €300 rod.I wish you the best.One advice for other people:be very calm and gather all the information needed before you do anything.

My 2 1/2 year old St Croix got stuck 2 years ago. I tried twisting, I warmed it with a hair drier, and even tried WD40, nothing worked. I called St Croix and they were no help at all. I then tried PB Blaster and let it soak for 2 hours, I grabbed 2 sheets of rubber that I had laying around and used as a grip while twisting. FINALLY after 2 years it's apart!

Putting the ice bag on both the upper and lower sections, means the cold contraction is equal, and both parts shrink a minute amount. Put the ice on the upper rod blank, and after a while, a hair dryer on the lower. Upper contracts, and the lower expands.
