The bright surface obtained with the heated Evapo-Rust really convinces me! Looks like sandblasted, pure metal surface it seems. This is the most helpful and essential demo I came across. Thank you for this great video!
Pour it through coffee or paint filters to get the crud out of it after you use it. It'll last longer and won't have all that in it. You'll be surprised how much stuff piles up in the filter. Go slow because it'll clog the filter and come through slow.
@6:10 Better to use some old sheets or dishtowel instead of paper towels, it is sturdier and ''traps'' the rust and dirt better. (used that trick a lot with cleaning vinegar, I'd just put it in an old plant sprayer and keep it moist, works like a charm! Or if it's not too big, wrap it with cling film)
Thanks for the heads up on the paper towels and plastic wrap! I have a old motor cycle with a lot of rusty chrome. This trick should work great! Thanks again, keep up the good work
Thankyou for this video. I had good luck using vinegar in an old crockpot but it took awhile. I will now be replacing the vinegar with Evapo-Rust, Thanks.
So the straight heated evaporust clearly beat the heated+unltrasonic treatment. There were rust spots in the final comparison at 8:02. So now the question: Why do you continue to use the ultrasound for your blocks if just heat appears to be better?
DSPORT, Have you tried spraying it onto a rusty body panel or inside a frame rail by using a sump pump, garden hose, kiddie pool, and spray nozzle? Heating it could be done with a engine block heater pump from Tractor Supply that heats it up to 135 degrees. That's how they restored the 1957 Plymouth time capsule from Tulsa Oklahoma, but I don't think Ultra One Rust Remover company used a heat pad or engine block heater to heat it up.
I'm a big fan of Evapo-Rust. Use it all the time, even though it's pretty expensive up here in Canada. $100 for a 5 gal. pail! I buy it by the 4 L jug ($35).
Firstly, great video! if you use the evapo-rust gel and decide to keep it on the metal for a day or two would I need to wrap/ cover the item? would you say the gel works more effective than the liquid form ?
I was wondering if you use heat to speed up the reaction does this reduce its rust removal capacity which is around 1/2 pound of rust per gallon, also does this effect the shelf life or cause it to have shorter useful life, or cause it to polymerize quicker indicating the end of its usefulness.
Pour Evaporust through a coffee filter after use to remove excess sediments. Always always always expect to brush item with a wire brush or wheel after treatment.
I did it with Rust911, except I used a plastic bin, sump pump and sprinkler head. Tented the whole thing in plastic and let it run for about 16 hours. Worked great!
Stupid question, would evaporust be a good product for a parts washer tub? Hard clean the parts in my slop sink then transport to the parts cleaner to let them soak and final scrub off the existing rust? I have the 20g harbor freight parts washer
great video, thanks for sharing Have you tried using a filter to clean the used solution? Don't frown when it goes brown do filter before you dismiss-to?? I'm a maker, not a rapper... give me a break lol
Question: can this be used in cylinders to break rusted rings? If so, what do you recommend to mix this with to prevent it from slipping on by too fast in the cylinder? Thanks for the video! I have tried this and it works great on tools!
I have a blazer 4.3 that I borrowed to somebody and they wrecked a few things and didnt replace them. I almost died and the state is currently working on getting me disability so money is an issue. The vehicle has some rust in the cylinders now and I was wondering if I could poor this in the cylinders and rinse them out and spray wd 40 or oil in there and crank it over. Or maybe vinegar but I heard it will destroy the aluminum pistons. This is my only vehicle as I my other vehicle I borrowed to someone and they put a whole in the oil pan and kept driving it until they blew the motor up and also didn't give me any money for doing it. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I'm in a bit of a tight spot because of all of this. Thanks
Thanks for the video - but I cannot find the Rust-Block product you show here. Is there a paintable alternative inexpensive spray? By that, I mean is there a quick spray coating to prevent flash rust (after using water to clean off the evapo-rust and then drying of course) that can be painted when dry?
You might try using Penetrol to prevent the flash rust. I used it on an antique blacksmith vise I restored and it worked great to prevent rust. And supposedly you can paint right over the cured Penetrol.
The problem I have found with it is that it leaves a black coating, which is easily removed with a wire brush, but that kind of defeats the object… Has anyone found a way of removing the coating without brushing?
Thanks! I use Evapo-Rust and I have an ultrasonic cleaner. Why haven't I used them together before? Faceslap. TIp: Fill the US cleaner with water, put the parts to be cleaned in a zipper freezer bag with a little of the cleaning solution. Last year I did just that when rebuilding a bunch of valuable model airplane engines and it worked great. No worry for loss of irreplaceable parts, either.
You can you can also Place Parts in a glass jar filled with whatever solution you want and put that in the water bath of the Sonic cleaner. I like using glass because I think the glass transmits more of the vibrations
@@bradleypease2492 JML1987 is saying that the boiling point of Evapo-Rust is close to the boiling point of water; i.e. 212° F. The 140° reference is definitely Fahrenheit.

Got to the gel bit, “Tip 4”, wait, what, I got the tip to heat it up, but not much else... gel isn’t a tip, it’s basically saying to use another product...
There is no such thing as box stock. It is called square tubing. Nobody wants to quicken the time. I'm sure what you mean is to lessen the time or reduce the time. If you can't speak correctly you have no business making a video using the English language to explain what you are doing. Take the time to think about what you're saying. Make up cue cards and read off of them when making a video. That's what people on television and formal speakers do.
Pretty common for women to address a mixed group of people as,Guys. It isn't really gender specific, unless you force yourself to be that narrow minded.
I'm not always particularly politically correct on such subjects but if a server in a restaurant wants to kill their tip, including my very obviously female wife as "guys" will tank the tip.

Thanks, that makes good sense to get the crud out. otherwise evaporust will continue breaking down the big chunks of crud, maybe?
Realy great analysis. Nobody else mentioned the gel. The gel is exactily what I need for my project. Thank you so very much.

You could use Ophospho as a second treatment to convert the rust to an inert surface following the Evapo-Rust.

Can you use rust block inside a motorcycle petrol tank
Just make your own.
1 liter of water+100g of lemishine+63g of baking soda+some dish soap. It's way cheaper and at least as effective as evaporust.
Wouldn’t the distilled water ruin the affects of the evaporation rust?
You think I can put the evaporator in a mason jar, and heat it up in a pot of water on the stove?
Could you use this for electrolysis ?
Totally different process. This process is chelation.
Can I use it on my car as a iron remover
Great video, very informative. Learned something new

How about tow chains

Good Question. Curious
There's nothing toxic in Evapo-Rust.
@@David-hm9ic so you must put it in your smoothies?
