    @BeatsNKarats Kenny has gotten into the audience engagement part of music as "entertainment," you can say it's garbage, but he's helping the audience understand the music better, if you look at African music, Brazilian music, everyone was a musician, even the audience. I don't see the problem.

    It's so cool when jazz can translate and get people on their feet. Doesn't happen that often huh

    Is there a reason i got so cursed upon a comment?
    I asked KG for lessons some decade ago, ofc he replied with 'not having time.'
    He is the top 3 most influential of how i want to sound in terms of edgy rhythmic and altered sax tones.....

    its actually e harmonic major
    e major with a flat 6

  • @queperknuckle
    @queperknuckle 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    no, it's f# harmonic minor. e harmonic minor has a g natural. Here, we have a g#. It' f# harmonic minor. He flattens the 5 for a bluesy effect in some rifs, but he also plays the c# of the scale plenty of times.

  • @queperknuckle
    @queperknuckle 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually, after a second listen, at one point he is playing a G# half-diminished scale. Listen for it G#-A-B-C-D-E-F#-G#. There is alot going on. I don't think you can say he's playing one scale.

    does anyone know which album this comes from?

  • @garrisonjonesmusic
    @garrisonjonesmusic 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ApatheticVegnagun e octatonic

  • @archlordXd0
    @archlordXd0 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    To be fair, in this case it's mostly pentatonic beastliness.

  • @BeatsNKarats
    @BeatsNKarats 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @saxbari I've seen Metheny twice and Garrett live over 15 times, so I dunno wtf you are bitching at me for. Every time Garrett comes to Yoshi's I see that show.
    When Kenny was playing cuts mostly off of his Songbook album he didn't have all this crowd interaction garbage. That's not trolling, that's honesty.

  • @BeatsNKarats
    @BeatsNKarats 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    This isn't rap, it's jazz. Don't call out for claps and timings. I hate seeing a show with napa wine garbage b/c of this. Garrett got soft. You made money, now you are eclipsed by betters
