Hi, Ariel, I love your videos and live streams. I watched this but was disappointed you didn't show the historic Polish and Dutch tree-lined neighborhoods, restaurants, churches, and brownstones. That is where the charm is. One of the older buildings you admired near the end of the video might been the site of my ancestors' dairy the Degroot Brothers Dairy in the early 1900s. I can't agree that everything should be built up new and shiny and overpopulated. But as you know, the view from Greenpoint to the city is incredible. So it makes sense that developers would take advantage of that.

Greenpoint is definitely on my list, never been there. Now I know where to eat when I’m broke in NYC 😉

I remember when LIC was just mainly old industrial buildings and warehouses now it's filling up with highrise apartment buildings & offices
My old neighborhood in Astoria now has a ferry that docks there!!!
And there starting to build highrise apartments there also
Jamaica Queens now has highrise apartment buildings
I'm so glad I purchased a house about 9 years ago
If I tried now I couldn't.
The market for a house now has more than doubled
300k to 800k and up
On My Block Homes are now over one million
I have realtors calling asking if I would sell that's a NO.
I remember when they built the citicorp building it stood out like a single tree in a field
and now it's been surrounded by stone glass & steel.

1:04:46 e/g you can see the effect of global warming is fully ignored. On hot summer days there's few options left you could do at spots like that (despite taking the dog for a walk). No shelter, no shadow casting by installations all around, grotesculy too few trees planted and, that's important, no hedgerows(!), and a lawn - therefore - likely to shrivel no later than June each year.

ariel, you’re a discovery for me, I always had lots of interest in cities, i think that ny continue to be the most iconic in world, i do not if the greatest. However i do have a love affair with Chicago. I also thought a lot in Detroit; what’s your view of Detroit.

As a pedestrian it's really annoying to go from Greenpoint to LIC. How is there no pedestrian bridge across the creek??? Instead, you have to go all the way to Pulaski Bridge and climb that horrible rusting, decrepit staircase.
