    These buildings look amazing at night. I remember being there back in the summer of ‘92 when I was 10 years old. I went inside the south tower to see the observation deck, and that evening I was in the north tower for dinner in windows on the world. The experience was absolutely amazing and unforgettable.

      Интересно, это был дорогой ресторан по тем временам? Кто мог его посещать, абсолютно все желающие (туристы, простые нью-йоркцы, приезжие американцы из других штатов, офисный "планктон" и пр.) или же это был элитный ресторан для финансовых "воротил" с Уолл-стрит?

      @aidan1585 4 ปีที่แล้ว +114

      They weren’t rebuilt because of the design, it a 60’s design. And the new building has concrete and steel, the twin towers were just made out of steel, and if they rebuilt them, it would look very old and people would end up questioning why did they use a 60’s design in the 21st century.

It was because of the religion that started in Mecca that these towers were knocked down and 3,000 people were killed. I miss the twin towers and pre-9/11 America 😪

    • @tennisguyky
      @tennisguyky 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Regan MacBannon Mason that is awesome! I visited them in 1993 as a kid and remember that they were massive in person yet sort of friendly. The observation deck was so high everything looked like toys. After 9/11 I had nightmares about being trapped in the tower, but I wanted them to be rebuilt. I’m sad this didn’t happen, maybe somewhere in New York someone will rebuild them someday, but I think the best tribute would have been to rebuild them it might have been a little traumatic for some but I think in time it would be very healing.

    • @tennisguyky
      @tennisguyky 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Regan MacBannon Mason yeah they left a lasting impression on me! I didn’t realize how many people actually worked in them until years later. We visited in July of 93. I always wanted to go back again one day. It’s the oddest thing, but in the summer of 2001, I remember randomly thinking about the twin towers again and even checked out a book about them from the library. I had this vague feeling of unease, and when school started back in September, it had been a beautiful summer, and I remember looking at the book of pictures of the towers and comparing the ones we took on our visit. But I had this strange feeling that something was wrong, I couldn’t place it it was just a vague unnerving feeling. On 9/11 I was home from college that day and was watching the Today Show. Around 8 am I stepped out on my parents’ porch and looked up at the sky it was a beautiful blue, even in Ky where I live, and thought what a beautiful morning. I stepped back inside to watch the Today Show and suddenly they cut in with the news and I watched the entire horrific thing on tv. When the second plane hit, I panicked. I called my aunt and my mom and didn’t know what was happening. I was horrified and later saw people jumping out of the north tower. I was very traumatized and I felt personally violated by what happened. Maybe because I felt the towers were a small part of me or some connection to them, but I cried, and was so upset that I shut down emotionally for years and could not express my emotions anymore. The tragedy was overwhelming. To this day I can talk about it but it’s still raw when I see the images again. And I’m still very angry about it. I don’t feel enough was done. In a strange way I feel if the towers had been rebuilt it would have healed a lot of wounds because to see them again, to touch them or to just feel their presence like I did as a kid would be really therapeutic at least for me. I like to remember them the way they were not on that day

    I couldn't have cared less of what was happening on 9/11 the day it happened cuz I was so young and dumb when it happened. But I eventually became fascinated with these towers and the events that occurred that dreadful day. And seeing them captured like this over n over again is astonishing. The new 1WTC and it's efforts will never do these beauties justice. I almost wish they would have rebuilt them. That would have been something. Maybe that's just how I am. I also wanted my parent's to rebuild a replica of my childhood home that burnt down that was two hundred years old in which my dad restored (didn't happen). Maybe it's just me.

    The new building is actually smaller in Size than the Twin towers where. Smaller less floors, much smaller at the top, Freedom tower it doesn't stand out in the skyline anymore, Hudson yards and all the new glass towers with similar height, it's just another glass tower like many others in New York. Shame the true icons wasn't rebuild.

    Along with the 110-floor Twin Towers, numerous other buildings at the World Trade Center site were destroyed or badly damaged, including WTC buildings 3 through 7 and St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.The North Tower, South Tower, the Marriott Hotel and 7 WTC were destroyed. The U.S. Customs House (6 World Trade Center), 4 World Trade Center, 5 World Trade Center, and both pedestrian bridges connecting buildings were severely damaged. The Deutsche Bank Building (still popularly referred to as the Bankers Trust Building) on 130 Liberty Street was partially damaged and demolished some years later, starting in 2007.The two buildings of the World Financial Center also suffered damage.The last fires at the World Trade Center site were extinguished on December 20, exactly 100 days after the attacks.

      И все это случайно произошло. Вы вообще действительно верите что макаки могут просто так захватить штурвал пассажирского лайнера, управлять им спокойно и направить идеально в здание даже если оно большое, почему бл...ять вообще не был сбит второй самолёт, если если было понятно понятно что он захвачен, и у вас такая охерительная военная авиация и пво, что вообще это нахрен были за "самолёты"? Если даже у вас устал метал в башнях 1 и 2 из-за чего они обвалились на мелкие части ещё в воздухе при падении
      ( что в принципе не возможно при такой конструкции), что бы просто под фундамент центральные балки все сложились, та какого хрена упало здание wtc 7, в него то вообще никакой самолёт не влетал и там конструкция здания немного другая, из-за пожара, единственный случай в истории когда металлические конструкции обваливались после пожаров был, угадайте когда, не поверите, 11 сентября 2001 года

      @Sturm Art the towers had 100 some floors and they started the construction in the 1960's, so the building would be out of date but the new one doesn't look nice and just doesn't feel like NY but Miami, so what I'm saying is that they could've rebuilt the WTC plaza and tower's with new coding but kept the original shape and outside look

    Absolutely should have been rebuilt in an ideal world but if you want the real reason why they weren’t just remember it always always comes down to money and return on invested capital. At the time of 9/11 business were leaving lower manhattan and the WTC was never 100% full as it stood. It wasn’t a sensible financial prospect to spend billions rebuilding two absolutely massive structures with all that office space when they were never going to fill them again, solely through the general business trend away from downtown but then couple that with the fact that no business would want office space in an exact replica of two buildings that had already been attacked twice and would inevitably carry on being a massive target for terrorism. The Twin Towers being rebuilt but sitting largely empty would have been a great visual spectacle but haunting as hell and was never going to provide a return on investment.

    I have a question. If the Twin Towers were still standing today, would the observation deck platform on the South Tower's roof eventually had been closed down?
    The observation deck platform on the South Tower's roof was only about 300 feet away from the North Tower's antenna. They did not allow visitors to the top of the North Tower because of the antenna there. The thought was they would get too much RF expose if they were that close for too long. If you're in close enough proximity for a certain length of time to that high of wattage of TV/radio signals, it can cause health problems.
    Apparently, the South Tower was far enough away to safely allow visitors, hence the observation deck there.
    Back in the 1970s, it was deemed safe to stand on the roof of 2 WTC, but in many videos, you can clearly hear and watch the radio interference. If you look at some videos taken on the observation, you can still hear analogue TV interference in their audio.
    If the twin towers were built today, I don't believe that they would surely allow anyone on the roof of the South Tower because of those interferences.
