I've mostly gotten used to this, but it made it so much more confusing that Malashaan's name was Malashaai this game, so every time someone said "Malashaai" I thought they meant Malakai until I noticed the spelling change on the grim!
If only Jamie could convince someone, he was spot on the whole way that there was spy/imp/drunk ath shenanigans afoot. He was banging his head againast a brick wall though

Quite enjoyable how this unfolds, but I do indeed feel like it's a bit naughty how this got set up. You could run this setup to challenge evil to find this powerful play through the spy, but giving the spy both the grim and basically your entire thought process in creating it seems a bit much. I'm only halfway through, but right now the entire evil team is not so much making plays as just executing your prompt. Evil is playing on easy mode when it would have been way more interesting if they were playing on expert mode too, trying to find the play themselves and having to back out of earlier plans once they did. More rewarding for them as well. I mean, I'm still entertained and so are the players so fair dues, just my two cents on the naughtiness.
I get your point, but I don't really agree to be honest. Ben gave Rez a very un-subtle hint that they should try to sell Legion to Sam, but not in a way that breaks the game. The way they went about bluffing Lunatic to specifically sell an Atheist world was entirely down to them. The Spy's ability reads that they get to see the grim, and Ben is saying he would have put notes in the grim about who the Lunatic saw if the game was played in person. Given this, per their own ability, Rez should learn who the Lunatic saw as Legion.
I think Ben's likening it to reality TV is quite accurate, I believe the only reason he did this was to entertain the stream and youtube, and you being entertained can be chalked up as the video being a success!
@@Ruminations09 Giving the fake legion is fine, but tbf he does specify them selling an atheist game around 8:30, which to me was overstepping a bit. It's kind of small potatoes because yeah I was still entertained. But for me what makes BotC such a great game and a great watch is that everyone has such a big challenge. Good has to solve a very complicated puzzle to build the right world. Evil has to figure out the world that town is building towards and misdirect them towards an alternate world, or at least sow enough doubt to prevent the solve. Both teams can concoct schemes to thwart the other. On that level, evil had no agency in this game, beyond choosing whether to take the obviously optimal play from the ST or not. Meanwhile town basically stood no chance, although admirably they came pretty close to positing the real world.

I have yet another custom idea where everyone is a version of the Amnisiac. They all are roles from a script but don't know which one they are, including the evil team. The way they get access to their ability is if they guess their own roll. One person dies each night and their role is the revealed to them, but since they are dead they don't have an ability, but their role will (if people believe them) remove a role from the script that nobody has to guess anymore.
my question has nothing to do with this specific match, but it is something I thought of while watching an NRB game... what happens if the fearmonger chooses an alchemist goblin, nominates them, the alchemist goblin claims goblin, and then they are executed? technically, two win conditions have just been fulfilled for the good and evil team, so who wins? Or do they cancel and the game continues? lol

Yes. The answer to every possible question you could have about the Atheist is ‘yes’. The Storyteller can break the rules so literally anything can happen. The question you should be asking is “should you do it?” Remember that the ST’s job, in an Atheist game, is to create a fun puzzle for the players to solve. If what you're doing is making that puzzle impossible to solve then you probably shouldn't do it. - Ben

If a drunk is poisoned then they have two ways to malfunction. Poison doesn't cure drunkenness or vice-versa

You can use it to simulate a poisoner in the game so I wouldn't rule it out to stop a game ending early.
If there is an atheist in play you can break (almost) any rules, so yes. But it really depends on the storyteller and the situation i would say
