    The reason the mount clip to the seat didn't fit is because it's meant to go under the seat slider mount. Then the mount will be rigid and not bounce around when you or passenger bump it. But make it work and good radio! What I have is similar but its an amazon version for my Icom with an MB-63 from Taiwan that I had to order separate. I also had to use a grinder to make the mic actually fit onto the mic hanger so I know the struggle is real! I'd like to see a video on your ATU box config. That looks interesting. I have an N7DXX ATU-500 and it is difficult to use because there is no head unit with those. The box is big and fits barely next to the radio head mount vertically. I'd like to upgrade that system due to only being able to tune it manually pressing the tune button. I'm using an Icom 706mkiig which does have the tuner capability built in. But connecting it to control an N7DXX ATU is not possible.

    The Lido's I use for my ftm400 heads are smooth as well, while the head has the little serrations in them, just like the 891. I'm using the exact same mounts for the ftn400's and my 891.
    I haven't had any issues with the head's loosening up, just snug the screws up really good but don't over tighten.
    About the only thing we can do is, get a little bit longer screw and use a lock washer with it.

      That’s a good idea. Jim emailed me and said he had something that might help mount it better he’s going to send me. I’ve already been changing things around and will be doing updates on my mobile setup as I make improvements.

    at 9:00 you can fix that easy twist loosening by putting a rubber washer(o ring , garden hose washer etc) between the control head and the mount . been making mounts basically like these for years for myself .

    We bought our Lil tarheel 2 a couple years ago off a fellow ham and did an extensive search for a radio mounting system when we ran across the Lido mounts. I have a Saturn Vue as my mobile ham shack and never use the radio so the CD mount was perfect for me. The radio and tuner is in the hatch with extra long extension cables run through, and if we want to set outside and run out of the hatch back it's simple enough to move the head unit back to the radio and enjoy the weather. And with having one day off a week in the warmer months this set-up makes it so nice to just pick up and go for a day of fun and relaxation.

    Great video Mike - I am currently putting one of these in my new truck and running an IC7000 and a FTM 400 on the same plate. A safety warning however - make sure that you don't install this in front of any potential air bag trajectory - if the airbag shoves the radios into your passenger's face that would be a bad day. PS I don't think you did this - but I am having to be very careful with my set up to avoid this problem.

    I’m using my 891 on a lido cup holder mount with the same kind of plate and a singular screw. I think I’ve tightened that screw once in a year and the only reason I had to was because my wife drove my car and accidentally bumped the radio face with a bag. Good video Mike!

    I wonder if you place a thin piece of rubber between the radio head and the support to add some friction, you know? I bet you have a piece of rubber hanging around.

    • @hamradiotube
      @hamradiotube  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You think I just keep rubbers lying around? That is a good idea. Jim at Lido is sending me something out for that so we shall see.

    I like the total package, but I think the mounting plate, may be more stable, if it bolted down, under both seat bolts. And some wire shroud covering, would both protect & cleanup your wires, from getting tangled up by the passenger. (Although my wife would hate that thing being on her side!)
    I supposed you can fold the rig down, & cover it with a towel, to help conceal it from the view of thieves? A quick release for the radio's face, would allow you to remove and secure that, from theft.
    I live near Atlanta, and if it ain't hidden, locked up, or bolted down... the local natives, will steal yo sh-tuff!

      @hamradiotube  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah, this thing is very sturdy. It's not going anywhere. I put some zip ties on the wires so it's a bit cleaner now. This whole assembly comes out in about 2 seconds if you need to take the mount off. That's the whole point of the quick disconnect that is attached to the seat. Good idea on the quick release for the radio though. Fortunately I don't live in an area like Atlanta, but that would be a good option to have.
