I got the Casio oak. Took it out to mountain peaks, swam in lakes, & scuba diving. Plus able to see different Timezones easily when traveling to different cities makes it one of the best bang for buck watch.
I found a spare crystal and matching bezel for my Hamilton 992B and made it into a salesman's model with display front and back. It is suspended from a stand on my desk beside my computer screen, softly ticking while the balance merrily oscillates away. Perhaps the best part is winding it every morning. The crown mechanism is precise but robust. Btw, it runs at +/- 4 sec/day. Not bad for a 70 year old timepiece.
Very cool. I just loaned my 12 year old son my all-black Casioak for the last week at Disney. He is beginning to understand the “cool” factor of watches.
You take me back to the early 80’s with these vlogs! Reminds me of watching Top Gear on BBC2 and a young Jeremy Clarkson getting many a chuckle with his overuse of similes for vivid and exaggerated description! 😂
Couple of watches 1. Casio Duro on a Nato looks like it's worth more. 2. Citizen Promaster diver Eco-Drive for under 200 for ISO rated looks fantastic. 3. Seiko Presage line the dials are amazing for under 1k.
@@christga100 After I got over the whole Seiko fanboy phase. I saw Citizen watches in a whole different light. They have some killer aviation watches and even their non Promaster watches are quality if you look pass the mall watches.
The PRX and the GShock are the two watches I've been eyeing on. Sadly the PRX is considered expensive in Malaysia because it costs the same as the minimum wage here, the automatic 1.5x more.
My 100+ year old Ball Railroad Standard by Waltham cost me about $300, and about the same to have it cleaned and serviced. The porcelain dial is nearly pristine and with 17 jewels it keeps good enough time to carry as a timepiece. If you consider the history, the decorated movement, the very cool lever setting mechanism that you have to remove the front bezel to access (a safety feature to prevent railroad watches from getting accidentally reset by the crown), I don't think there's a better value in watches than a vintage pocket watch. You can also find vintage pocket watches from high end brands like Omega for a fraction of what their current products cost.
The coolest watch as described in this video is definitely the casio mdv-106. Its got simple cool dive watch aesthetics and mine has took a beating for years on land and at sea and keeps on ticking while still looking great. I took a train ride recently and compaired my watch to the conductors and they were synced to the second. I only change the time twice a year for daylight savings and set it by an "atomic" clock. 4 years, no battery changes.
It’s also referred to as the duro. I needed a watch when funds were low. I bought the Duro, and I started me down the Casio rabbit hole. It’s incredible how much you get for the money. I have also started really liking watches with nicknames. The royale is my next purchase
@@PurposePlastics I just prefer to call it by the model number because I don't know where "duro" came from and it's one of the catch your Casio model numbers. I bought a few when I heard they were going to have to stop using the Marlin on the dial in case back because it just won't be the same without the fish on it.
Bulova Accutron has it for me. Geeky and cool. It's got tuning forks as a proto-quartz movement. They even used it in space. The space view looks amazing and you can listen to it hum.
I love the Cassioak. I've had had the all-black model since it was released ... was it 3 years ago. It's resisted salt water sailing and the timer works great for the race start sequence. Great find!
Everyone who wears watches needs a gshock. They're a great beater watch! I've spoken with veterans who toured in Afghanistan and they loved their gshocks. So if a watch like that can withstand being dragged through literal hell and back, it can certainly withstand a few hours of log splitting and yard work.
That stealthy Casio looks fantastic. I'd definitely wear one. My favourite watch I've ever owned is my Longines Oposition Chronograph in black. Looks classy and stealthy, as well as not being super expensive. Fantastic timepiece that I've owned for over 15 years.
A gorgeous watch IMO is the Sugess Moonphase Master, it has a Automatic Seagull Movement and one of the best looking dials I have ever seen, it looks like a star filled night sky that twinkles in the light, and the moonphase blends in, and it is only $200, yes the movement is Chinese, but that is the best looking moonphase for less than $1000.

Yeah I have a feeling Ickler doesn’t make or sell a lot of them, they’re more of a B2B marketing tool, a sample of what they can do for larger manufacturers interested in their case making, which is their main business. They’re solid watches though and will last you a very long time with periodic servicing that should be inexpensive since they use ETA movements

That GA2100 is a beautiful watch. However the "coolest" iteration (the "stealth" model), is simply too damn hard to read. If they'd only made the hands just a bit whiter/brighter, this would be a huge improvement.
@@johnniethepom7545 I would rather spend that money on three $5.000 Omegas. A Rolex makes a statement and I don't always feel like talking to strangers.
Cool is a state of mind, therefore the cheapest coolest watch is any cheap piece worn without hubris or shame, but still with some care. A cool watch is liked by its wearer without placing their personal value into said watch, simple as that.
The Maen and PRX are nice looking watches... but I just don't like integrated bracelets. Even if I never intented to change the bracelet LoL... I just like the versatility of being able to.
Andrew introduced Me to the Hamilton 992b in the comments on His 'Talking Hands' AMW channel.. gotta say.. I was never a huge fan of Pocket watches.. but..bigg fatt *BUTT* I've seen the Light..and it fits right into that wierd little pocket on Me Jeans lol.. the movements in these?.. I like the Timex Explorer range . Cheap , robust with the ability to read at night with the touch of a button . Working in construction, they last about 5 years . Unfortunately, Timex has woken up, and they are now much more expensive than 5 years ago .

The Hamilton Ventura S quartz (Men in Black watch) is great value and just drips cool!
That GA2100 is a beautiful watch. However the "coolest" iteration (the "stealth" model), is simply too damn hard to read. If they'd only made the hands just a bit whiter/brighter, this would be a huge improvement.
Happy to be the owner of the first 3 watches
Is there any online store for buying original watches?
I am not cool enough to wear that Maen which is a shame because I really want one.
If you would rather wear one of these than spend $15k on a Rolex , then my friend, you are cool enough to wear one .
@@johnniethepom7545 I would rather spend that money on three $5.000 Omegas. A Rolex makes a statement and I don't always feel like talking to strangers.
Now I have to go home and swap the crystal and back on one of my 992s lol. Great idea
My god, I didn't knew about that Maen. Beautiful watch. I want it.
My seiko quartz perpetual. This watch is cool. The second, a diver, is the Orient Triton Neptune in blue, and not the baby Neptune.
Cool is a state of mind, therefore the cheapest coolest watch is any cheap piece worn without hubris or shame, but still with some care. A cool watch is liked by its wearer without placing their personal value into said watch, simple as that.
Just watched a video from a year ago about watchfinder being overstocked and no longer buying Rolex at any price. Is this still the case?
The Maen and PRX are nice looking watches... but I just don't like integrated bracelets.
Even if I never intented to change the bracelet LoL... I just like the versatility of being able to.
Andrew introduced Me to the Hamilton 992b in the comments on His 'Talking Hands' AMW channel.. gotta say.. I was never a huge fan of Pocket watches.. but..bigg fatt *BUTT* I've seen the Light..and it fits right into that wierd little pocket on Me Jeans lol.. the movements in these?.. I could stare at for days.. the older american Waltham train pocket watches too, stunning movements.
Smart choices, especially the pocket watch.
I like the Timex Explorer range . Cheap , robust with the ability to read at night with the touch of a button . Working in construction, they last about 5 years . Unfortunately, Timex has woken up, and they are now much more expensive than 5 years ago .
I'm a big fan of Timex still, tons of them are in the sub $100 range. Still you are right, they are 30-40% more than 5 years ago.
3:14… silicon balance spring in the PRX???
Surprised no one seems to have mentioned the F-91W
I was smiling the whole time watching this, great video!
Why do you recommend the Seiko 5 over the GMT version?
My all time favourite watch is the Citizen Bullhead from the 70s. I think it's the coolest watch ever, but that's subjetive. The Seiko 6139 600x is a close second.-
