because you are expected to drive ALWAYS at the speed limit. Try doing 80kph in the twisties. Pretty dangerous, hence the protection (no risk taken attitude by the orga)

Here in Finland even the historic rallies are driven on gravel stages flat out. Would be awesome to see this car going through real super stage. For all the historic rally fans here, check Jari-Matti Latvala's channel, he has alot of videos of him racing his old rally cars.
Any event hosted by a group classes as competition requires safety equipment. You turn up with no cage or seats to a rally you don't race. Just because you don't do 120mph in 5 seconds doesn't mean it's not dangerous doing 60mph constantly on ice roads
Seeing lots of "I expected a REAL rally" comments I gotta say: this looks like so much fun! I haven't seen many of your vids lately and this made for an excellent come back - ain't nothing better than rallying on public roads with a classic car in such a scenery. I've once participated in sth like that with a couple friends in a '99 Cadillac and I tell you - while "real" rallying has got to be cool and exciting, long road trips like this are the ones you remember a lot if not the most :) Regardless of what you drive and how fast you actually go. It seems people don''t understand what a historic car rally is. Hint: THIS is a historic car rally. Its not a gravel race. Its not track or special stage racing. Its a touring race and yes its still a race and takes skill and planning and commitment to win.

The fact that most os the people is disappointed that this was not a time attack type rally but a regularity one, shows that this channel has a lot less petrolheads than I thought. Regularity rallyes are almost as popular as speed ones in Spain. It sure is not as exciting to watch, but it is really interesting to participate in
Btw. Alex told you that it's going to be a historical rally... So i don't know why some people where expecting big jumps and dirt sliding. This is still a classic Mercedes not a WRC Focus.
Why are the views so low .. I just watched all the behind the build with merc and didn't even know this existed. Have done some budget ones around Europe in the same areas. This actually brought a tear to my eye. Thanks to all that made this!
This is more about the camaraderie of taking a massive road trip with a bunch of period cars while having some friendly competition. All while going down some of the most amazing roads in a safe and non dangerous manner. It's not for everyone.

All these comments from people about "real" rallying, clearly had no idea what this series was actually about and why they did the work they did. This was a great series and have seen a lovely transformation of a car.

So now I know what kind of event it was 2 years ago when I was living in Aix les Bains. We want to see more of the closed road parts! Not only you driving and searching your way.
Yeah kind of pointless... Could've done it with a stock Toyota Prius probably... I was expecting more too... This is just reaching checkpoints as quickly as possible while driving legally... And on most of these roads the speed limit was probably like 30 or 60
Chris 5112003 it’s a time-speed-distance rally. It’s not about being fast, it’s about being precise. Your scored on how close you are to the target time, too fast is as bad as too slow.

Everyone complaining this is not like a WRC Rally, Alex was clear from the beginning it was a HISTORIC Rally and people doesn't seem to understand what that means, when Same did mille miglia it was amazing, this "I'm disappointed". I think this is great and really fun and unusual, you don't see these kind of historic rallys that much and they are a lot harder than you might think

@@amberionik I think especially with the roll cage that's where expectations went up. Usually you wouldn't use a roll cage for driving the speed limit
