This season was really bad. I don't think Matt was prepared to be The Bachelor. The show focused too much on drama. They brought his dad onto the show when this should have been something more personal. Having a conversation with his dad is not necessary for him to choose what woman he wants to be with at this point. It's seriously not necessary. He probably should have had this conversation before the show.
agreed I wish they chose a lead who really wants to find a wife and not more IG followers. The dad thing is just horrendous and reminds me of what they did to Dean.
Yes, he should have had this conversation with his dad many years ago. And a couple years of therapy to prepare him for this show and to work through the issues from the past. It looked like his dad was deflecting everything that Matt said. But then, suddenly (and probably prompted by producers, who needed this issue to be resolved), started apologizing and pretending to be remorseful. I am not sure
that he was sincere.
I don’t think any of the issues are Matt’s fault. The bloopers prove he showed more of his personality than the aired, and from the WTA that he had connections we didn’t get to see either. Also, production tried to bring Kelsey’s a stranger Dad on and he said no, plus he tweeted his discomfort about the situation, so there is NO WAY this was his idea.
@@yt7377 the conversation was productions idea, but also, I was abandoned by my dad, did I need years of therapy to be in a healthy relationship? Please be careful of the things you say, Matt won’t see but others in the same position will.

I seriously cannot imagine Matt proposing to either Rachel or Michelle. This is frankly the most lackluster season ever, and all “entertaining” moments such as petty drama with the women and perpetuating stereotypes shouldn’t have even been apart of the show.

I don’t think that it was his all fault, Honestly he just didn’t get a lot of screen time. Like between all the drama going on with the woman, Matt just didn’t have a lot of interview segments.And they cut out SO MUCH group date footage. I mean they had Peter, Kelly, Tashia, and JoJo on the season and they didn’t show it. That’s so much conversation that we missed. For me, it’s not that Matt is particularly boring, it’s that I barely know the guy even after nearly a full season with him as the lead.

Michelle is the only one who actually seems like a mature woman, looking for a serious relationship. I can see her as a wife and wanting a stable life with someone. Like a sean lowe and Catherine situation. Rachael looks like a girl you would find at any university campus on her way to a frat party. Her outfits lack maturity as well.

Agree! When Michelle/Bri say that they love him, he smirks, kisses them, or says "thank you for sharing that," lol. Rachel is the only one he will say that he loves. I also think that he felt strong about Serena P before she dumped him (I believe he said he was falling in love with her). But he refused to say that to Michelle/Bri.

Michelle seems very secured whereas Rachael seems very anxiously attached. If Matt has avoidant attachment (as he shared about his struggle for intimacy), that may be one of the reasons Matt is more drawn to choosing an anxious girl because avoidant/anxious often choose each other out of familiarity.

@@janene4734 familiar might not be the right word exactly, the typical explanation is that in the early stages of a relationship they attract each other bc they compensate for the other's imbalanced intimacy levels

At this point I'm thinking Matt was easily manipulated by the producers because he was inexperienced with the show. I wouldn't be surprised if he's now looking back and feeling a lot of regret.

I’m not trying to be mean but this season, including the dates, just feels like Matt using the opportunity to do all the things he’s always wanted to but never had the chance to in his real life. It’s so obvious he’s not ready to get married. The relationships seem like they’re side notes.

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking! You could even see the differences in the way he talked about the situation with his dad with each of the women; he seemed way more reserved when discussing it with Bri. To be fair to him, maybe he didn't know that he could choose to opt out of it and this was once again a symptom of the producers taking advantage of his inexperience with the show?
The last two episode has "Producer's" hand writing written all over it. Him crying and breaking down is indicative that he was torn apart. Matt looks like a people pleaser and maybe him breaking down shows that he probably wanted Rachael but producers.

Whatever faults he has as a father, I felt for him in the moment, because to have such a personal conversation completely unprepared like that on national television is so hard, especially if they had never talked about those issues before. I know lots of people think that convo should have happened behind closed doors, but as someone who had a similarly difficult conversation with my own dad, where eventually the relationship ended, I truly felt seen for the first time by this show. It’s very nuanced and tough, but I appreciated it to my core.

The editing has been so bad this season that Matt and Rachel's "love story" just feels empty. She has come across as shallow and needy and their conversations seem to always center around her insecurities. It's not a good look due to producers. So sick of it - just want to get to the ATFR so we can learn what happened after Matt learned about all the stuff that came out about Rachel after the show wrapped.

I was so excited for him as the Bachelor from what I already saw!!!! I was sad that it wasn't Mike - he wouldn't been AMAZING - but happy that they at least had a black bachelor. Production didn't care about making Matt likeable and showing us his personality, instead they focused on mean girls and spreading rumors 😤

I really enjoyed your videos until midway though this season when all of the Rachael upset happened. It’s curious to me how so many people are so willing to condemn Rachael, vilify her and belittle her as “less than desirable.” That comes from a place of cruelty and resentment and discrimination and judgment - all qualities everyone condemns her for as being inherent to her to as a “racist” because of her actions in the past. Those actions though seem to have come from a place of ignorance more than from a place of racist degradation of a people. She seems to really care for Matt, and if he dumps her after choosing her, that shows in him the same meanness of spirit, judgment, and lack of compassion everyone is so wrongly accusing Rachael of having. It’s truly saddening to see the unkind attacks and petty insults everyone is hurling at her.

I do agree her actions seem to stem more from true ignorance than a supremacist mindset. But she wasn't 15 at the ball. She was a grown ass woman, stop coddling her.
It’s REALLY interesting to me how they recorded Matt and his dad. Not one of the conversation shots were the both of them at once. It just cuts back and forth between the conversation. It was probably altered so much, I wonder how it actually went.
Could just be the location it was filmed.. they sat somewhat distanced from each other, very much unlike any conversation he has with any of the girls. Maybe they didn't get a good camera angle that included both of them in the shot.
Right it for sure got deep they only showed 5 minutes of a 30 minute conversation.

There is no chemistry with Matt and Rachel. They had to keep a white women on this show. We all know it should’ve been Bri and a Michelle in the final 2. Also... Matt is not ready for a proposal I said it once and I’ll say it again.. this is the most play this man has had with women in a minute. You can tell by the way he is quick to just make out and through his interactions. He gives me teenage boy who was a nut vibes. He will pick Rachel and I feel terrible for Michelle

I (unfortunately) got roped into this franchise during Coltons season, with the only one I'd seen before being Sean Lowe's. I'm currently watching Rachel Lindsay's season and its cracking me up how obviously it's been Bryan from the literal first impression rose lol.
