This was another interesting and yet "horrific," case of domestic violence and murder. It's interesting how close Mamie's skeletal remains were found to where she lived, eventually. May her soul rest in eternal peace.🌹 Great investigating, presentation, photos and historical information, too.
Thank for another fascinating case B.C. It’s a shame they didn’t conduct a search for Amy at the very beginning. Amy’s husband looks like such an ordinary chap. Looks can be deceiving, that’s for sure. Also, I just love the pictures of that time period. ❤keep these great cases coming!

She showed the letters to the police that referenced his violence toward Mamie. The court was more interested in prosecuting the pearl-clutching crime of bigamy >gasp< than the domestic violence OR walking 200 yards to find her remains.
He may have seemed to have gotten away with it, but his fortune sure wasn't good following her death. His reputation was ruined, his "other" wife saw him for what he was and left him. He was written out of a will, and he died in poverty. It doesn't feel like enough, poor Mamie. She seemed like a fun loving, sweet girl. Taken in by a bad apple. Had she met some other man she'd have had a better life.
Thanks, BC, for another, well told, tragic tale. Love, how you managed to find so many, interesting photos. Poor, Mamie. Ahead of her time, really, and didn't leave that swine, in time.

Thank you very much for bringing Mamie 'back to life'. A shame that monster didn't pay for his crime. Small consolation is she is at least laid to rest with her family. Thanks Brief Case
This is one of the saddest cases Brief Case has brought us. Mamie didn’t get justice and only got a proper burial long after being used as a teaching prop 👀.
Of course he did get away with murder! He was clear from almost right away - for me from the telegram that Amy’s parents suddenly received after all the time without no contact from their daughter (it’s fairly obvious he wrote it so they wouldn’t look for her any time soon) - she was murdered by her husband….and it gets me fu*king mad that he died before he could face the consequences.
Finally back with her family where she belonged. Her life turned so sad before her death. As a mother, my heart hurt hearing how her husband was no longer the charming gentleman she married. However, it was when she wrote she didn't think she would live with him long that my heart fell to my feet. Without a doubt, that has 2 interpretations, but my mind said she knew he would end her life. I may perhaps listen to too much true crime. Thank you BC for sharing Mamie's story with us. Always thorough, unfailingly respectful, just how we like our stories. Cheers.
Such a tragic story, so sad Mamie Stuart would bump into the wrong man. Love is blind indeed. She probably told her husband "she'd had it" and he killed her. It's so important for friends and family to keep in touch~ She gave her mother a "clue" it would still take years to solve the murder and the man was already dead. RIP Mamie very sad story.

Ins not do straight forward. The law came around when 3 people were hanged in 1660 only for the alleged victim to appear 3 years later. In 1949 John Haigh was found guilty of murder without a body but the victim’s dentures were recovered, in 1921 a person could not be convicted of murder without a body so the police were unable to charge George
