  • Experimenting with Winsor and Newton Granulation Medium and Daler and Rowney Acrylic Ink. I wanted to get some amazing textures I see in the work of Naomi Tydeman. I believe she's using Granulation Medium in her work. This effect doesn't work if you try with regular watercolors. I won't separate out as much. I'm using 140 lb watercolor paper, old brushes, plastic cups, a cup of water, and paper towels. It does get pretty messy. The watercolor granulation medium doesn't work with Daler and Rowney Watercolor Inks.
Here is a link to her work.

I also love Lisbeth Zwerger I think she uses granulation medium but sprays it on her watercolors. This is just my hypothesis looking at the finished work.

Welcome to the Messy Art Teacher Channel. I created this channel anyone interested in learning more about digital art, graphic design, and illustration. I teach high school animation, graphic design, and photography. I've taught everything from traditional drawing/painting, crafts, ceramics, digital art, and recycled art. Probably stuff I've forgotten as well. Thanks for visiting and Enjoy!
This video would be WAY too long if I did all the mediums I purchased so will do more videos on them.
Visit my blog: messyartteacher.wordpress.com or www.teacherspayteachers.com/S... for more art lessons and instructions.

FYI, I mentioned Schminke has a spray version of the granulation medium. Dick blick no longer carries it online or in store. I asked, but they couldn't tell me why they stopped carrying. I can't find on Amazon.

Thank you for the video! Will this work on canvas? Or with regular acrylic paints?

Your welcome. I'm not sure about your questions. Because acrylic paints are thicker. I only used it with watercolor and watercolor acrylic inks.
