    I was exactly like Kitty; would get so nervous before the test that I would either pull out or end up making mistakes because of the pressure of doing the test. I really struggled with the anxiety of feeling that my mistakes were being judged and it took a lot for me to overcome test nerves and just focus on driving and doing my best. It’s important to practice lots so you can learn how to react to different situations in driving and this will definitely help on your test even if you make a mistake you will know what to do to correct it and stay calm. Francis is a great instructor.

      @@DrivingSchoolTV I passed in March! Funnily enough my mock test/ practice before the driving test was dreadful. My pre-test nerves kicked in right before my test; I managed to bump a curb when practising parallel park, managed to park in between 2 bay’s during a reverse park manoeuvre and even managed to drive into a culdesack when my instructor hadn’t told me to do anything except simply follow the road round. I took some rescue remedy my instructor gave to me shortly after and thankfully all those silly errors went out my system and I managed to conquer my nerves and pass! I was fortunate that I had a very informative instructor who was very calm and didn’t get angry with me unlike some previous instructors. My instructor knew I could drive and that it was just my anxiety surrounding the test rather than the actual driving. A lot of it is state of mind as you mention in your videos and knowing how to react and plan ahead!Your videos are really informative and show exactly how a driving instructor should be; calm, patient and informative. So thank you!

A good tip is talking through (or doing commentary driving) helped not only with the nerves, but also a good way of showing the examiner that you know how to drive during your driving test. Good luck to the lady in the video and to all learners out there!

    i found best way to deal with nerves. i was told i ready at 40 hours but my nerves far from ready. i did extra 15 hours but those extra hours i went to much more challenging areas, all questions i had were answered much more tricky location than on test. so on test less thinking about the driving just concentrate on my breathing , mind set before so be it if i pass or not lets just go on nice relaxed journey . at some point during extra hours my mind set changed all i can do is my best and if i pass i pass took that pressure off me. and thankfully i took the extra hours because my test was around 57min to hour it felt never ending the last 15 mins stopped at lights my hands were shaking before moved of few deep breaths my mind i said just keep doing what you doing keep calm doing good. we got back so late all the other tests were out and only ones waiting for my examiner were waiting outside. normally hour test for banned drivers but my first ever test and we rarely stopped for traffic, maybe because i have some disability i don't know but felt never ending. 2 minors in the last 20 mins so passed first time so i feel the extra hours really helped . i was lucky position i save up before even started to learn so i had pot extra money ready, i had to pass first time because i feel it would cost me more than 15 hours to be ready again as my nerves were shot by end the hour test and without the extra changing hours i feel i would really struggled with my nerves even tho told i was ready i ramp up my hours per week. now 6 years in i still not change a thing i learnt so much extra esp how to manage my nerves

  • @wrightwoodwork
    @wrightwoodwork หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    She is thinking what not to do instead of what to do. Thier was nothing wrong with her starting position all she had to do was go I'm having that space so simply aim the left rear side of the car to the front left of the space. . That's the first bit to get correct in the control . When doing the observation dip the clutch and pause your movement slightly give a clance to your right for anyone coming or waiting . Then concentrate on the rear left getting to the front left of your space. Pause again check what's happening around you. Don't worry about what angle you are at any angle is fine. Some you will need to adjust later but not now. As long as you are say anything from 30 to 90 you are good . Some of it is just straight back or straighten up . Let's say you where at 30 and you haven't got a lot of lock on the way you have the whee turned put more on . The left side of the car is fine so forget about a little bit , your aim now is to make sure the right side of the car goes into the right side of the space . You will be a little bit blind on the right using the mirror but don't worry you can keep look out the the bsck window. Then check right mirror that you haven't gone too far right. Don't go over the line, not that it matter but in the future when their is cars next to you it does a little , you can steel a little bit of space from the space next to you within reason. The right side of the car has run wide with full lock on. It's fine just come out of the space and simply straighten up so you are more in line with the space or less of an angle than when you started. Now it's simply gping back check left and right and straighten up and hey presto you've done it. It doesn't matter that you need to readjust. Francis should have said a little bit sooner i feel about reversing left or right into a space at the back of the car park. Which would give you more time in your head to plan. Don't worry about it being perfect as long as you know how to re adjust and how to fix it it perfect in the real world . On a lesson go to a car park on a busy day and you choose one that scares you a little or challenging for you maybe not scares you but is difficult due to other things like junctions cars stopped waiting. The reason it will help even though you will hate it is that by leaning what to do in that environment and you will get their with a few adjustments, you will get their and you will have a massive rush of endorphins and go I can do this which will boost your confidence and that space you struggled with you will go I can do that with my eyes closed.

    • @wrightwoodwork
      @wrightwoodwork หลายเดือนก่อน

      On a lesson why not go to a retail park say park as if going to a certain shop. Like what we all do when we drive and go to the shops. It then gives decision making to them . They can choose to reverse or forward bay . Parking is much easier if you've decided what to do and where you want to be than I want you to reverse into a space along here and your mind goes where

      @@DrivingSchoolTV I had to think how I would do it then brake it down and how I would fix it and how I would fix it . Maybe should see if I could give a lesson with no training on video . That would be more interesting than cam I pass a mock test I'm London . The last time I was in London I had the bike and was going to do London to Paris and had to meet people at some hotel near the eye. As I had a bike bag and could not carry the bags I had the brain wave to get a taxi for the bags and I would draft him over a 15 minutes journey going by Google maps. The driver didn't understand I couldn't accelerate as fast as he could and went up to 35 40 amd I was chasing like mad at 1 point i wished for a red light whem I was at 35mph. I'm sure we did the journey in something like 8 minutes instead of the 16 estimated by Google for a car.

      @DrivingSchoolTV when I say debate, I mean question it. Basically, I was asked to take the right turn after the traffic lights, 2 lanes both go straight on and right one for turning right. So I get into the right lane behind a van that isn't signalling. Lights turn red, on green we set off and he suddenly signals to take the right for the lights, so I'm stuck behind him until he turns and I got a fault for awareness and planning. Which I disagreed with

    Her only weakness is In decision making. The parking and lanes only went wrong because she is going should I I shouldn't I. The lanes when wrong lane which is fine. Simply go I need to make my way to the left lane and look for the safe space or ask to be let accros . Also look at the sat nav. If you are more this is exactly what I'm doing the mistakes won't happen . You know what to do it's the decision part leading to the mistake

      As unfair as it is the result was. Did you have to noticeably alter what you did, so skiw right down which would be unpredictable for cars behind. Or where you at crawling speed and going to have to stop even if they weren't their. The decision is based on how your road is flowing. If it was free flowing then keep going as by stopping you are showing lack of confidence to the examiner and they think you don't k ow what to do. Unless they have entered the road and blocking traffic or you will have to stop keep going it's thier responsibility to join safely. If they mske a mess and you can deal with it . Its good
