I look forward to the weekly visit as if you are a sister who prepares a good meal for me. And, indeed, you do every time. The feast of your shared skills is filling every time!
Love that rich brown on both of those tables. Gives them such an elegant look. Nice to see the progress on your new shop. How exciting for you! Being an investor makes me feel a very personal attachment to your success. You remind me so much of my oldest daughter - she also has a strong work ethic and a contagiously vibrant personality! 🥰 The kind of people who attract others to them - colorful flowers for hummingbirds! 🌺
Every time I watch one of your videos I learn something new. Using a heat gun to loosen glue and then stripper to remove the glue is a neat trick. Thanks!
Your devotion to quality always shines through, whether the job is large or small. A lot of people might have just sanded and filled that old repair to make it less conspicuous, but not in your shop, you _had_ to do it properly and remake the repair. Truly an inspiration.
Amazing as always. I have a little half-table that needs some help. You give me knowledge and confidence. Thanks for all of the free restoration videos! Aside - my husband and I visited the Mystic Seaport museum in CT (USA). They have a working wooden ship yard, where they train young people in the trade of repairing, building, and restoring wooden ships, so the skill is passed onto new generations. Very cool. They cut trees down for masts and dry them out as in the old days Thought you might appreciate this info. Not furniture, but related. I hope your videos can teach the younger gen a skill that we need to maintain.
Trena you have the ability to turn sows ear into a silk purse keep up the awesome work your love for your craft is an inspiration to many people including me 🌷🌷🌷🌷
Trena, terrific job of correcting all the problems this little table had! I just rescued an antique Eastlake table recently. Someone had slapped 5 different coats of paint on it and it looked awful! When I saw it in a junk shop, I bought it. I used Citristrip to get into all the nooks and crannies that it had in the legs and table top. It took me 2 months to complete this project between hurricane Debby occurring with all its rainfall and then very hot weather here in Georgia. But I persevered and now have a beautiful restored table. Always enjoy your videos!
My grandmother had a little table like this that I inherited. She called it a radio table because those old fashioned radios from the 1920s and 1930s sat on it. Nice restoration, thanks!❤
Lots of great info about how/when to use various scraping/stripping techniques. Also never thought to use stripper to clean old glue out of previously failed repairs. Once stripped I was seing more of a honey finishing colour. You went for close to the original 'darkwood'. I'm guessing that if I had a chance to FEEL your final finish I'd be sold. Not everything works on camera. Love your work and the way that present it. THANKS.
It's late, time for b... oh look Trena has a new video. I shall have to bookmark this one. In the pile of furniture I inherited are a nest of tables that look a bit like this piece, right down to the crappy paint job. When I get to them, this video will come in handy. I love the look you achieved with the top. So much more to my taste than some of the lacquer, poly finishes.
Boy, that wood lube really does give a rich finish! It's like chocolate truffle for the eyes. 😋 And PROGRESS! There is a foundation down! I can't wait for a guided tour of the finished shop! (It's gonna be heated, right?)
You are literally good for my heart. A few months ago, I had a stent put into the main artery of my heart, never knowing anything was wrong with it. It's so incredibly bizarre to me to know there is a man-made product in my heart! When I watch the incredible beauty you bring back to life, it makes me forget for a little while my fight back to recovery. Thank you for what you do. ❤
I’m so glad your customer brought this piece to you. The transformation from yard sale junk to delicate classic is amazing. Love that matte satin look on the top. You are such a pro!! Oh, and that new shop is going to be here before you know it!
dear Trena once again you have restored to this little piece of furniture its original beauty which had disappeared under this horrible old paint, but what is more you have repaired its legs like a surgeon of lost causes, bravo to you for this wonderful restoration work . happy and have a good week to you and your family in Ontario.
What a pretty final result! You'd have never known that such a pretty table was hiding under all that paint! Great job, and nice to see what progress is being made on your new shop! Can't wait for you to be all set up and able to spread out and have so much room to work!
It came out looking great! I have a table almost identical to that! It was always in the front hall when I was growing up, and was a similar color. In the 60s, we painted all the dark woodwork in the house white, and my mother painted the table white, with gold accents in the turnings. It stayed in used for many years after, and I have it now. My late husband, who was an excellent woodworker, stripped it back and refinished it to the original, (but better)! Still have it, but it is no longer in use, but in storage. Not crazy about the style, and I never have liked dark wood finishes. For me, they seem to suck all the light and life from a room, especially the way they decorated back in the 30s, with EVERYTHING stained dark!
I remember these small half-round occasional tables from when I was a kid (... I am VERY old... hush, child.) Anyway, I wanted one for a small space... under a mirror, to hold a lamp. They don't make them any more. I was frustrated, and couldn't afford an antique. BUT, (days later... after giving up) I was walking up a street near my apt., one was on the street. Owner was putting stuff out. I begged for him to "guard it" until I could walk back... less than 10 minutes. It was "broken", he said. I didn't care, I said. Ok... the front leg needed to be glued back to the top. I had no clamps, but had many heavy books, and wood glue. Yes, it needs a better repair... but 6 years later... I still love it! And the lamp was ALSO a "street find"... free... just needed a cleaning. Thank you! This channel, and the folks who support it... you all are the special ones who see LIFE in pieces. Who help preserve... and enjoy the furniture. Who "get it". Maybe I'm not crazy when I want to rescue stuff... Maybe, just maybe, ... Nah... I am nuts. But... still. It is a NICE type of nuts! 😁👍
I have a little half round table that belonged to my grandfather. It was in sad shape when I got it and I had it professionally refinished. It is so pretty now and it is my treasure. You did this little table justice and now it is someone's treasure. ❤❤ Cheers from the Finger Lakes of New York 🍷 🍷

Very nice restoration on the fabulous table. Beautiful table. 🍁🍂🧡💛❤ I have a half round table almost identical, Ive had since the 80’s, mine has a triangle shelve 3/4 down. It had 3 lawyers of paint, off white, Pepto-bismal pink, celery green. It took me forever to strip the paint off. It’s one of those tables that will fit almost anywhere.
Another awesome Sunday morning with Trena project done and look amazing , I see the new shop floor is pored a great step in the right direction it will go up fast after the floor is cured ,looking forward to it
In the late 1960s, I found a table like the one you worked on here. I was at the local Salvation Army. Fortunately, the original finish was intact. During one of my many moves, it was somehow lost. It was so delightful to watch you work on this. I always loved that little table and miss it.
Presto - amazo! Once again Trena works her magic to bring a tired old piece back to life. Looks spectacular - love the hand rubbed top. Slab for the new shop looks great, too. Thanks for sharing with us again.
You did a great job with both those pieces. I don’t like them, but you made them come alive again. Look at that base. It’s coming along now. Walls next, then roof and Trena’s Barn will be almost complete. 👏👏❤
My neighbor has a table like that one except instead of a lower brace there is a shelf. Once again you perform a fantastic transformation. Excellent job thank you for sharing.👍
I can’t comment on the video directly for some unknown reason. You’ve really brought out the beauty of the wood in this piece. I once had a similar table that was in an apartment that I was renting. Yes that would be nice but it’s a business so I dont always have the time and space to make things pretty like they do on some DIY channels. But maybe in the new shop I’ll see if I can set up a little staging area. Cheers
I mean, when the yellow paint was fresh, the table probably looked pretty. But now, it looks classy! Oh, and I was wondering how the new shop was coming along, and lo and behold, the slab's down! Yay!
Finally! A hand rubbed finish and someone who knows how to use it! Elegant! For me, I only ever use a gloss finish when French Polishing. Otherwise I start with flat sheen and polish upwards till satisfied. Using Wool-Lube is great but so is the Feed-n-Wax. I use Liberon 0000 to apply. It's much finer than the Box Store stuff. Using a heat gun to heat to separate a poorly glued repair is wisdom and experience. Using your finger to force the glue is usually adequate but if you need to force it go deeper, I usually use 2000 grit automotive sandpaper loaded with glue then drag it down as much as possible. If you can see daylight though, then a gentle use of a vacuum applied to the opposite side should pull the glue all the way through. If not, then your clamps should force the squeeze out to finish it off. These are just a couple of tips that I find useful. I have absolutely NO problem with your methods. In, fact, I admire them and greatly appreciate your dad's influence. He's taught you well and I hope you can learn from him well into the future. Please send him my respects. I also appreciate that you are sending us updates on your new shop. I love following your journey even though I am just a minor contributor. Keep on, keeping on! Life only goes in one direction! Your friend, Lee
A beautiful job on that table, a guest appearance by Laura, and a reveal of the slab! But I remain intrigued by the radio in the background early on, and need to know more about the Beethoven tuba sonata 🙂
Fastidious work as always - Fairy Godmother transforming Cinderella into a princess! And so gratifying to see the foundations for the shop taking shape.
As always, beautiful repair and finishing of a table. I am so glad to see your new shop under construction. Things move so much faster once the slab floor is finished. You'll be moving in very soon.
Another beautiful job. And it is wonderful to see you two working together again. When you two combine on a project it winds up amazing + incredible. You can fight over who is which. 😀
I really prefer natural wood, or near natural as to painted wood, something about painting wood just does ring true with me, that being said, I have seen some nicely painted pieces though. The beauty of that piece is its simplicity and the finish that was applied by you young lady, nicely done, thanks for the update, enjoyed watching. The new shop is coming along nicely I see!!!!👍👍😁
Awesome Trena, I have a bit of a project small like that and I sure will follow your lead on how you handled this one. Yahoooooooooooo looks like your concrete is poured and they are leveling it our and smoothing it down for your shop floor. I am SO EXCITED for you and can't wait to see how fast it goes up. Maybe you could be in by Christmas? Going to be a beautiful building......so so excited and thrilled for you and all lovely people who assisted. Blessings indeed. So happy for you~~~
Thank god for bad paint jobs.reminds me of an old phone table, maybe.beautiful work as always.just keep on doing your thing.hope your doing good.be safe.next.👍👍👍😎😎😎
Hermosa restauracion ,felicitaciones por la reconstruccion de su taller ,saludos para uds y para su amiga laura ,espero que realice algunos videos de sus trabajos con vidrio ,suerte
Trena, the master refinisher....beautiful finish on this one. I like the choice of using a hand rubbed wax. Congrats on the beginnings of your new shop!
Once again, nice job, Trena. Little tables like this are invaluable when furnishing a home. It is so petite and useful - it's like an invisible surface to put things on, like candy trays, objects d'art and even small lamps. We have a few in our home. Love them!
I think that is my favorite finish for natural wood of all the finishes you use! I like the chippy paint look, too, but the color and the fact that someone had tried to strip it was not good. You made it look so beautiful! 🍻
Another marvelous transformation, congratulations on a fantastic resurrection of a very tired piece. While I watched you press glue into the crack in the leg starting at 9:10, I thought of a trick I see a master Luthier do while gluing cracks in wooden guitars. He presses a little suction cup up and down on the glue over the crack to force the glue down inside the crack. I'm not trying to second-guess your mastery -- just thought it was a trick that might have come in handy for that cracking leg.
You always turn sad furniture into beautiful examples of woodwork! Thank you Trena!
I look forward to the weekly visit as if you are a sister who prepares a good meal for me. And, indeed, you do every time. The feast of your shared skills is filling every time!
Thank you so much!
I do believe Trena could turn a toad into a prince. Nice work as always.
You really transformed that table from almost trash to a fabulous piece of furniture. Love it!!
Thankyou. She is boarded 15 minutes from me. But not a home yet 🥰
Beautiful little table. I loved the close up of the stripper bubbling on the leg glue.
Every time I watch one of your videos I learn something new. Using a heat gun to loosen glue and then stripper to remove the glue is a neat trick. Thanks!

Fantastic work as always you show as much respect for small projects as you do big ones❤️❤️
Just add a doily and a vase of flowers. History comes alive.😊❤
@@AnnewithanA73 one thing I’ve noticed, whatever Trena touches, it’s alive for another couple hundred years. 😊
The before/after is a night-and-day difference. I love the new look.
Ooooo actual workshop progress happening, how great!
Gorgeous work as usual, Trena! And the slab is in for the new shop! Congratulations!

Hi from CT! Glad you enjoyed your trip here. We are a history laden state and Mystic is one of our best tourist locations.
Thankyou! That sounds really cool!

Wow you transformed that table into something special. Watching how you work is interesting,
Crass to elegant ... wonderful finish! It's ready for another 100 years!
First video of the day! Perfect way to start my Sunday, with a cup of coffee and my animals scampering around. That turned out so lovely.
My grandmother had a little table like this that I inherited. She called it a radio table because those old fashioned radios from the 1920s and 1930s sat on it.
Nice restoration, thanks!❤
Very cool!
Went from tweety bird to a swan. 👏👏 Trena

Love the transformation of the table, and the Concrete looks good. Great video.

You are such a pro!!
Oh, and that new shop is going to be here before you know it!
I totally agree!
My favorite kind of table, have one like it but longer. Saves lots of room in the house. Well done as always.

Thanks so much! 😊
YOU HAVE A SLAB!!! YAY!!! So glad things are finally moving forward for you. Love your show, Trena.
Yes! Thank you!
Trena, you show so much respect for these beautiful pieces and the results are glorious! Blessings!
Thank you so much!
You're so good at bringing out the "Beauty in the Mundane." The music should be your theme song.
It came out looking great!

You do great work with all your projects, would love to see customer reactions when the pieces are finished
I love that you restore vernacular furniture with the same care as a high end piece. I love this little table and the hand rubbed finish. A other beautiful projdct.
Thanks so much!

What a gorgeous transformation !
Very nice restoration on the fabulous table. Beautiful table. 🍁🍂🧡💛❤

I hope you can find another like it to love
Good job, Trena. The table is beautiful. I anxiously await seeing your new shop. Thanks for the video.
Thanks so much!
Presto - amazo! Once again Trena works her magic to bring a tired old piece back to life. Looks spectacular - love the hand rubbed top. Slab for the new shop looks great, too. Thanks for sharing with us again.
Thank you so much for another beautiful job. And so glad to see progress being made on your new shop.
Thank you so much!
You did a great job with both those pieces. I don’t like them, but you made them come alive again.
Look at that base. It’s coming along now. Walls next, then roof and Trena’s Barn will be almost complete. 👏👏❤
Thank you so much!
My neighbor has a table like that one except instead of a lower brace there is a shelf. Once again you perform a fantastic transformation. Excellent job thank you for sharing.👍
Thanks again!
Wow! The finish was amazing. So lustrous.
Lovely! Those tables are so handy to have. Beautiful result!
I’m missing my mom’s old half-moon table more than ever, even though yours is more beautiful! Thanks for the video!
I can’t comment on the video directly for some unknown reason. You’ve really brought out the beauty of the wood in this piece.
I once had a similar table that was in an apartment that I was renting. It was painted white, and it fit perfectly under the kitchen window. Leaving it behind just broke my heart, but I couldn’t ethically take it with me when I moved out.
Glad you liked it!!
Thanks Shirley!
You are always much fun and I always learn something from you! Thanks for being so generous as to share your knowledge with us.
You are so welcome!
Beautiful table restoration. Concrete looking good for the new shop.
Thanks 👍
I just love your work, Trena! Another gem brought back to life!
Thank you! Cheers!
Pretty little table and nice to see it properly repaired!
Nice job, beautiful table. Suggestion, staging the furniture w a rug, a lamp, a plant and some nice wall background will make your pieces stand out! 💙
Yes that would be nice but it’s a business so I dont always have the time and space to make things pretty like they do on some DIY channels. But maybe in the new shop I’ll see if I can set up a little staging area. Cheers
Lovely. It is good to see Laura. AND your slab is poured. Yaay

Yes it was t the worst color I agree. It could have been cute if it were done nicely. 🥰
Thanks for showing us the electrical tape clamp. I have used it a few times and it really works.

Wow, it’s beautiful! Loving the shop progress pictures too. Hurry! The snow will be flying soon lol
I know!! 🥶
Ohh, at first I thought the stain was too dark. Then when you were waxing...PERFECTION!❤❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Another magical transformation, very nice finish.
Fastidious work as always - Fairy Godmother transforming Cinderella into a princess! And so gratifying to see the foundations for the shop taking shape.
Thank you so much!
Great Transformation. I still can't believe you have a light coloured carpet in the workshop!!! nice to see progress on the new Shop. 😊
lol well it was just there and I guess I just left it
I love how your place is progressing. You need that new place.
Yes I do!🥰
An amazing transformation! Wish I could get your stripper chemicals!
Love seeing shop progress!
It looks wonderful & sturdy now. Good for decades more use!!
Nice looking pad for the shop ! nice repair on the table too
Great job, as usual. Thanks for such interesting projects. I had a table like that....

Thank you very much!

Trena, the master refinisher....beautiful finish on this one. I like the choice of using a hand rubbed wax. Congrats on the beginnings of your new shop!
Thank you very much!
Once again, nice job, Trena. Little tables like this are invaluable when furnishing a home. It is so petite and useful - it's like an invisible surface to put things on, like candy trays, objects d'art and even small lamps. We have a few in our home. Love them!
One great job Trena, look's great have a nice day All. Brian UK !!!. 😀😀👋👋👋.
Thank you! You too!
So pretty! I had one of those tables and, for the life of me, I can’t remember where it went. Great to see that the slab is done for the workshop!
Very nice job, Trena.❤ Better than new!😊 love the work you put into all the peices you finish!
Thank you! 😊
I think that is my favorite finish for natural wood of all the finishes you use! I like the chippy paint look, too, but the color and the fact that someone had tried to strip it was not good. You made it look so beautiful! 🍻
Thanks!
Has anyone ever complained that you over achieved and made the piece to nice for the rest of their furniture? That came out splendid.
lol actually one client in 25 years 😂
Another marvelous transformation, congratulations on a fantastic resurrection of a very tired piece.
Thank you very much! It is a cool trick 🥰
Hooray for the progress on your shop!!!🎉❤
I love watching you strip the nastiest and turning it into beauty.
Again a beautiful piece you did bring back to live !!!!! And great to see that the work is started for the new Shop !!!
Thank you very much!
