Fantastic to see Jon’s daughter following in his footsteps , restoring furniture properly and learning from a master. So many crap Videos of ladies on utube plastering furniture In Paint and calling it restored. They should watch some of your fathers videos and take note ! Fantastic. Well done.
Not only am I impressed by the work you do, I'm also amazed at how you're able to maintain such a beautiful manicure while doing it; especially since you don't always wear gloves.
It went from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan. The sum being greater than the individual components. I especially like this video. The background music in particular. So appropriate for the thoughtfulness put into this restoration.
I can only imagine how loved this chair has been through the years that it has been repaired, and repaired. So happy you could return it to like-new condition so it can continue to be a cherished item.
What I love about your channel is that you employ some well-used, well-worn tools, containers, and surfaces to create some very clean, lovely pieces. Not a lot of flash; simply outstanding craft, technique, talent and attention to detail.
Trena, this is your golden formula for videos! Love the stripping and serious repair along with a what not to do without saying it. So perfect videography balance!
Trina You are such a superb colourist- you have my complete admiration. Happy Mother’s Day to you! I’m lounging on the sofa watching you work your magic as my kids and partner make me brunch - heavenly!
Absolutely gorgeous. I love that you love returning these pieces to new again. There is some beautiful wood and history in that chair and your mother's upholstery is just fabulous. Love that your customers also want to keep old alive and make it new. Just beautiful Trena! I hope you had a beautiful Mother's Day! Blessings
I like the "it's no big deal" comment mid-video. Concrete guy / mason / you tuber Mike Haduck shares your practical approach but staying with traditional construction methods. It's one of his tag lines. I appreciate you both
Another beautiful restoration, Trina. It turned out gorgeous as always. I found it hard to believe that they even painted the leather seat! Now it looks like it was supposed to be. I also love the music you chose - it is really pretty and relaxing to listen too. Until the next video, have a great day 😘💕🇦🇺.
I have to say, this is one of the best restorations I have ever seen you (or anyone) do! I love the color, the beautiful elm grain peaking through, and the elegant simplicity of the whole piece. Absolutely stunning!
Trena: good looking chair, very functional. It’s amazing to me how you can stain different woods and get them to look like they are the same. I guess that says professional refinisher! Great job as usual. Carol from California
Amazing transformation! And I know you have mentioned using dowels vs plugs before, but I think this is the first time you have explained why. It makes perfect sense now. Thank you.
WHAT? That can't be right? I guess it is, I watched the entire refinish! Trena took a piece of trash and made it beautiful! My head hurts from the Magical Furniture Transformation.
Trena, thank you for sharing another lovely example of your skill and artistry!!! I'm guessing this chair was made in the 1930's. I have discovered through my years that a lot of furniture crafted in the 1930's was made from whatever assorted wood parts and pices that were on hand, and then faux grain and various colored stains tied it all together and made it look like a piece of finer furniture. "Whatever works" is emplyed more often when times are hard, finances are limited, and resources are scarce. Furniture pieces like this chair served long and hid their secrets well. Their longevity is a testament to the original craftsmanship, regardless of the assorted materials utilized for construction. The additions of oversized screws and nails add to the chairs apparent refusal to give up. Vintage treasures like this once again lovely chair make me wish furniture could talk and tell us its story. ❤
Not to nitpick but using screws rather than glue to secure pieces of wood together is the opposite of primitive. It is an industrial means to the same end. I completely agree with you that using screws is far less elegant and definitely less artisan but not primitive. Your result using skillfully applied hardware was beautiful!
Hello . I just want to Thank you for the great videos u make showing us your amazing job and your professional skills. Im watching your videos cause make me feel closer to my dad. I lost him last year 59 y.o from cancer .He was a great carpenter an amazing technician, he teach me everything I know today . Your videos take me back some years ago watching him working on his bench. You can't believe how you make people feel by watching u. Continue the great job. The world needs talented people like u.Thank you ❤
Excellent transformation! I wouldn't have looked twice at that painted ugly chair but I see with some time, patience and work you can make it look brand new! Bravo!
You are truly a magician it looked so ugly before and almost regal finished. I think that tint brought it together. Well done young lady thank you for sharing.👍
I cannot understand why somebody would paint over a lovely wood grained chair as you have revealed. That is the appeal of furniture, the personality of the wood grain imo. And your attention to detail esp. with small repairs is much appreciated. I like that this piece is a hybrid of contrasting woods.
I’m impressed that you can do such great work with those nails! I had some acrylic nails done for the first time two weeks ago and I can’t function properly 😂 I can’t grab anything, use my phone or type. It’s ridiculous
You have done it again Trena! Taken a humdrum kitchen chair with multiple bodged repairs and a worn out paint job, and promoted it to the front hallway or dining room. Nice finish and well done Mom too!
I just about had a heart attack when I saw that they painted over the leather seat. That turned out beautifully and I actually love the mismatched wood.
Hi Trenna, I hope you had a Merry Christmas and wishing you and your family a Happy New Year! As always, God bless you and your family from your long-time California subscriber 🙏 🤲
That's a great transition for that chair. Initially, I would have turned that chair into kindling. But there was much to learn watching you do this chair.
You never cease to beautify! When you said “off to the upholsterer” I thought, what about Mom? Glad she is still rockin’ it, too. Still planning to redo my own stuff down here in the lower 48, but in the meantime, I’ll keep learning vicariously thru you. Thanks, Trena!
We sit and wonder at our past with open eyes and open mind our history past and present; we gaze in awe at our last past just to think who was that person last to use the things we restore ! and still we know not our history past yet with a smile we will always still wonder ‘
This video comes in handy because I’ve inherited two Biedermeier chairs with as far as I know at least 4 layers of paint on them (cause I know them all my life) I know the original veneer is taken off ages ago because it was not salvageable my mother told me. I wonder what the original wood looks like. If they turn out half as good as yours I’d be over the moon. 🍀🍀🍀🍀
Wow! you took a chair that looked like it was ready to be tossed out, to a chair that will sit proud in any home. Beautiful and sturdy now. You always impress with the final reveal. I enjoy the process and your calm voice in the videos. can't wait to see what you are up to next. Until then be happy and healthy.
I love that they built it out of whatever wood they had - and you fixed it, and added to with what you deemed best; and the result was and is a beautiful functional chair :)
That has turned out much better, all came together nicely.. each time I watch, I'm thinking what is there I could find needing restoring, but first I need to build up to that stage with the kit.. Hey Ho..
Looks like they used whatever wood they had and used that patterning to disguise it. Then you transformed it and gave it a new lease of life. And mom too with her upholstery skills.
I cannot imagine that this chair looked better than this new. I am not extremely fond of the painted on tiger oak grain so was glad you didn’t try to recreate it. You did an amazing job on one small chair. Trena, you have a gift. I watch many different furniture restorers and your skills are second to none. I learn something new with every video of yours that I watch. Thank you.
If one thing, this video shows that every wood is beautiful, and that all different species creates a beautiful chair together. Food for thoughts! Great work as always!
I never have restored a piece of furniture and at 78 I never will. And yet watching your excellent work is a joy. Another beautiful restoration done.
Wow, thank you!
Fantastic to see Jon’s daughter following in his footsteps , restoring furniture properly and learning from a master. So many crap

Acrylic nails
👍👏🌹
Thank you! Cheers!
Yeah it got my attention too😅
Exactly my thoughts too
It went from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan. The sum being greater than the individual components. I especially like this video. The background music in particular. So appropriate for the thoughtfulness put into this restoration.
Thankyou!
Trena, you took a chair with “Heinz 57 varieties of wood” and worked your meticulous magic once again. Absolutely stunning!
Same thought exactly, Heinz 57 ,,,
Thank you! Cheers!
How can you work with those nails
Love the manicure!
Happy Mother’s Day to the mother of furniture restoration TH-cam!
Oh thank you!
You give that old broken down chair a new lease on life and another hundred years service. Great job as usual
I can only imagine how loved this chair has been through the years that it has been repaired, and repaired. So happy you could return it to like-new condition so it can continue to be a cherished item.
Yes! Thank you!
What I love about your channel is that you employ some well-used, well-worn tools, containers, and surfaces to create some very clean, lovely pieces. Not a lot of flash; simply outstanding craft, technique, talent and attention to detail.
Thank you very much!
Someone made this chair with what they had, they did wonderful work and you have honored it. I love watching you work.
Thankuou.
Trena, this is your golden formula for videos! Love the stripping and serious repair along with a what not to do without saying it. So perfect videography balance!
Thankyou!
There again you have taken an ugly duckling and made it a beautiful swan. Great job Trena! Cheers ❤
Thankyou!
The use of lacquer toner is the best thing I have learned so far watching your videos.
Awesome! Thank you!
Ahhh the sweet gratification of turning a seemingly hopeless piece in to a thing of beauty. Nice job!
Yes! Thank you!
This video reminds me of the time when I was young, in the 70’s, when we smeared paint on everything to make it look ‘modern’.
Beautiful transformation of that chair. Like night and day. And "Happy Mother's Day!"
Thank you!
Trina
You are such a superb colourist- you have my complete admiration.
Happy Mother’s Day to you! I’m lounging on the sofa watching you work your magic as my kids and partner make me brunch - heavenly!
Wonderful! Happy Mother’s Day to you too.

Thanks for that. I love Mike’s channel.
Happy Mother’s Day! Was about to get up for breakfast but will watch this first!
Hope you enjoy
Another beautiful restoration, Trina. It turned out gorgeous as always. I found it hard to believe that they even painted the leather seat! Now it looks like it was supposed to be. That chair is absolutely delightful…….👍🏻🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Happy mother's day.❤ As usual what a great job full of very useful teaching and comments. Many thanks.😊
So nice of you
Trena, I love how much you love doing a good job, a proper, respectful job.
I have to say, this is one of the best restorations I have ever seen you (or anyone) do! I love the color, the beautiful elm grain peaking through, and the elegant simplicity of the whole piece. Absolutely stunning!
Wow, thank you!
Scrap wood chair, hence the tiger stripped finish. Great job pulling it all together.
Trena: good looking chair, very functional. It’s amazing to me how you can stain different woods and get them to look like they are the same. I guess that says professional refinisher! Great job as usual. Carol from California
Thanks Carol
It is such a pleasure watching you work your magic! Thank you!
Thank you so much!
As usual, your results are far better than I thought possible.
If it doesn't work out for with your dad I will happily adopt you! I would be so proud if my daughter could do this kind of work.
lol always good to know I have options. 😂😂🥰
Amazing transformation! And I know you have mentioned using dowels vs plugs before, but I think this is the first time you have explained why. It makes perfect sense now. Thank you.
I kinda liked it even without the toning! Beautiful job and so nice to see the chair brought back to life rather than thrown on the burn pile.
WHAT? That can't be right? I guess it is, I watched the entire refinish! Trena took a piece of trash and made it beautiful! My head hurts from the Magical Furniture Transformation.
You can see/feel the wood breathe again. What a relief! Beautiful.
Can't believe they painted that beautiful chair. Now it's beautiful again. Love it.
Thank you for rescuing this poor painted chair. I really like how you appreciate natural wood, even on less than priceless heirlooms.😄
Trena, thank you for sharing another lovely example of your skill and artistry!!!

Wow. That’s so special! Thankyou!
I’m going to remember to scrape as much as possible before stripping in the future! Great tip.
😉
Excellent transformation! I wouldn't have looked twice at that painted ugly chair but I see with some time, patience and work you can make it look brand new! Bravo!
Nice job- you gave the "old lady" new life!
How in the world do you keep those gorgeous nails with a job like this! ❤
That you see the beauty within the beast, is awe inspiring.
Beautiful chair Beautiful work thanks Trena
It’s wonderful you can see the beauty of furniture underneath all that paint 😊
You are truly a magician it looked so ugly before and almost regal finished. I think that tint brought it together. Well done young lady thank you for sharing.👍

Beautiful 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
From a bridge job or fire wood to a real beauty 😊
You have done it again Trena! Taken a humdrum kitchen chair with multiple bodged repairs and a worn out paint job, and promoted it to the front hallway or dining room.
Nice finish and well done Mom too!
I just about had a heart attack when I saw that they painted over the leather seat. That turned out beautifully and I actually love the mismatched wood.
From Frankenchair to a beautiful piece of furniture. Love the color/finish, Very beautiful. Great job young lady!
Thank you so much!

I can't believe it is the same chair, the toner really gives it a great color match. Realy love the seat cushion.
That chair was looking very sorry for itself but look at her now....gorgeous !
Lol ! Your nails compliment the green of the chair! My best to you , and beautiful shop dog !❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks Ms John and family !!!
Hi Trenna, I hope you had a Merry Christmas and wishing you and your family a Happy New Year! As always, God bless you and your family from your long-time California subscriber 🙏 🤲
Merry Christmas to you too! Thank you for the well wishes, I appreciate you.
That's a great transition for that chair. Initially, I would have turned that chair into kindling. But there was much to learn watching you do this chair.
Wow! What an amazing restoration! To find such a pretty piece beneath that hideous paint job was wonderful. Thanks for sharing this, Trena.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great reminder that hacksaw blades will clear a paint-filled slotted screw. Thanks!
I think after people see this video, They will get it. Nice job.
I hope so 🥰
You never cease to beautify! When you said “off to the upholsterer” I thought, what about Mom? Glad she is still rockin’ it, too. Still planning to redo my own stuff down here in the lower 48, but in the meantime, I’ll keep learning vicariously thru you. Thanks, Trena!
WOW! What a fantastic job at restoration.
You did that beautifully again! I've enjoyed it! The chair can last for years to come! Niek.

Another absolutely perfect job - as expected. Your Mom's upholstery is nice too.
Beautiful job with the chair 🪑 ❤

I watched the intro and thought, here is another stroll in the park for Trena. As always it looks great, and your Mom did a nice job on the seat.
Thanks so much

I can tell that your heart is whole being back in the shop WITH your dad ❤
Turned it back into a handsome chair to be enjoyed for many more years. Great job as usual.
Awesome! Thank you!
I never cease to feel real joy when you take a trashy piece and bring back its beauty. What a lovely result!
🥰
even on a small piece there are plenty of things to d to give it a stylish new life.
This turned out great. The paint was so sad!
Looks like they used whatever wood they had and used that patterning to disguise it.
Then you transformed it and gave it a new lease of life. And mom too with her upholstery skills.
Yea Thankyou
Fantastic job. Who knew there was a real chair under all that paint.
That chair looks gorgeous ❤
Wow, looking really good, the chair looks ok too.
Beauty-full.
Excellent job.!
Greetings from México City
I like that you truly restore.
I love this chair. It is like me genetically, diverse and beautiful.
Very pretty little chair! I like it a lot!❤
I cannot imagine that this chair looked better than this new. I am not extremely fond of the painted on tiger oak grain so was glad you didn’t try to recreate it. Absolutely amazing! Your father and mother must be very proud of you. I know we sure are. Thank you for inspiring so many.
Thank you so much!
I needed the 120 sand paper hint!! Thankyou it was very soothing watching you.
You are so welcome!
If one thing, this video shows that every wood is beautiful, and that all different species creates a beautiful chair together. Food for thoughts! Great work as always!
Well said!
very nice probably nicer than what it was originally. enjoyed watching.
I mean DAMN. What a difference. That's what talent, knowledge, and perseverance get you. A gorgeous chair.
Thankyou!
A “Phoenix” to pass on for another generation! Bravo 👏🏽
Magnifique! Talent will always produce results that seem impossible and you make it look simple. Just wonderful.
Thank you very much!
Another job well done Trine 😊
You’re my absolute favourite among furnish repair people on the Tube.
Wow, thank you!
