Radiohead are an English rock band formed in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, in 1985. The band consists of Thom Yorke; the brothers Jonny Greenwood and Colin Greenwood; Ed O'Brien; and Philip Selway. They have worked with the producer Nigel Godrich and the cover artist Stanley Donwood since 1994.
I saw an interview with Thom where he said he wrote the song with no meaning. And in doing that he wrote a song that meant something. He went on to explain he was putting lyrics together not worrying about if they meant anything. It ended up they did mean something.
Thank you for this reaction :) I always loved this Radiohead song, I love the way it builds and swells before fading back out, they are great musicians and song writers.
"She looks like the real thing, she tastes like the real thing - my fake plastic love." That's the part that always gets me The fakeness is within us. You know, that thing you feel so strongly about? That feeling is probably manufactured in some sense.
Fil, brilliant track. Powerful and everlasting.... We now have proven evidence that microplastics are inside us, I know I started dreaming of electric sheep (reference - Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is a 1968 science fiction novel by Philip K. Dick). #QcumberSquad #Radiohead - Fil, I'm off back to the study.
Erm... Sorry to break this to you but this isn't a song about materialistic things in a supermarket. This is a love song. Your interpretation was enjoyable but way off the mark. It's a relationship story.
The track was released 1995 so we have levelled up many times since then, especially in plastic and silicone areas
This is my favorite Radiohead track and one of my favorite songs from the awesome 90s alternative rock era.
Brilliant song, the entire The Bends album is just fantastic.

A Thom Yorke quote from when he was on Stephen Colbert show: " We live in strange times"- " It's not my fault"
I love Thom Yorke's voice !!!!!! Massive fan

We can all be bought, for better or for worse.
The world is exhausting for those who can see through all its facades.
I literally had this song in a mix CD for someone more than 20 years ago
