It's June 2011 and Ibanez just announced the Xiphos is coming back as part of the Iron Label line Nice video. I subscribed 👍 Justin from the Philippines
I own the XPT 700 chameleon red and i swap every chrome parts for black parts and i replace the ibanez bridge for a OFR black! Best looking guitar that pmays like a 5000$ instrument without breaking the bank and they are hard to find nowadays so im more stoked to own one than to own something else. Brutal looking, plays great and it’s a rock solid instrument. Cheer’s from Montreal budd 🤘🏻🔥
I have the XPT700FX. This variant was not mentioned in the video, but its basically the xiphos with no whammy bar ( so a super solid bridge instead) and only 6 strings. I've had it for about 10 years. This is one of the most solid, not just guitars, things I own. From a distance the body may seem somewhat petite, however in my arms this cluster of cellulose and metal is surprisingly dense. This was my first guitar and may be my last. I got used to the weight early on thinking this is how guitars are, then one of my friends who played guitar for far longer than I mentioned that it was the heaviest guitar he'd ever held. This particular model has a slightly thinner neck than modern guitars which is great for reducing finger movement so I can play faster. I barely every have to tune the thing. The truss rod has held up to cold and heat without adjustment. It has spent most of it's time leaning on my couch where I can always see it and play it. I feel like this is the perfect body design, especially if you want to learn classical guitar and point the headstock towards the ceiling. Every time I see a jackson or LTD or someone else with something similar, I think about buying it but then I'll notice some slight feature that my xiphos has and then I move on with life. This guitar has spoiled me on other body types.
Wow that's fantastic looks like u really love ur guitar a lot... It's comfy, good playability...ands really interesting to know that there's a fixed bridge model of the XPT700... what's the color on yours?
have the xpt700xh, bought one of the last new ones I think because I made the purchase through three different music shops telling me that they didn’t have it in stock and didn’t know if they would get more anytime soon.
XPT7000 owner here. I love it, the shape is amazingly ergonomic - both for standing up and sitting down. Amazing neck, sick looks. I did have to mod it a little - I moved the strap button because it had a neck dive (stupid, dunno why they did that). I blocked the trem (it wasn't very good) and change the pickup. Still it was worth every penny and I'd love to have the 7 string and the 27 fret versions. :)
Ya man...same here...the seven string and 27fret versions are something that I d like to try as well...well sitting down its very comfortable to play unlike V shaped guitars.
my main guitar for the past 5 years is an Ibanez Xp300Fx I found neglected and unplayed collecting dust I traded it for a Casio keyboard for a fraction of it's real price and it was a struggle to play since the pickup were noisy and hard to control but after a while I couldn't find any guitar that I felt in love with like this one and now it's my inspiration to actually build my own custom guitar since Xp is my instrumental wife the next logical step is to have a kid down the line that has the best qualities of her and my vision of an instruments and more
@@MetalGuitar911 i'll check it for sure I hope they are willing to listen to my ungodly number ideas since i've been working on this design for 2 years now thank you my friend
Nice vid! I also own an XP700 the first version, chameleon brownish green color. I bought it by chance, second hand and on a good deal. It needed some loving and cleaning. I upgraded it with Gotoh locking tuners, Gotoh locking nut and string tree, Tremol-no and a damper system, also changed the worned out edge 3 with a used good looking one and upgraded to futone brass block. I also changed the pickup rings and allen locking Gotoh knobs to new ones, it was too grimey and worned. It was pretty much in a 70% looking state when I bought it. But I am very happy when I cleaned, polished and upgraded it. It is now looking brilliant to almost new to 97%, but better with the upgrades. I never really planned on getting the xiphos, it was a spur of the moment and I thought that it can gain some history. A nice addition to my Ibanez IC and STM collection, amongst others.. Anyhow, just sharing as I was stoked when I got the axe and it turned out to be a great build. Chon (cheers) from Manila!
Xiphos XPT 700 is no longer available however sometimes you can find them in the used/second hand market in good condition... Ibanez has re released the Xiphos as part of their Iron label series which is a bit costly than what the original xiphos went for
god i wish there was some way to bring this shape back (jackson warrior is just not the same). unfortunately big brands don't give a shit about customers, just like boss won't bring back the HM-2 life is pain
If u are really into it or want a new one badly, check out Balaguer guitars..they offer this shape in their custom shop options , else u ll find one (Ibanez Xiphos) from the used market
I want the Xiphos back and Necrophagist too!!!!!
Same here 😊😊😊😊
