I Tried the New Specialized Turbo Tires- Goodbye GP5000?

  • Initial impressions on the new Specialized S-Works Turbo tubeless (2BR) tires and how they compare to the Continental Grand Prix 5000 TL and Grand Prix 5000 S TR. At $80, these might be one of the best road tires I've ever ridden and on par with the king of road tires, the GP5000. Not to mention, significantly less $$$.
    These tires were paired with a set of Enve 4.5 AR wheels on the new Enve Melee.
    After nearly 1,000 miles on the Specialized S-Works Aethos and 600 miles on the Enve Melee, I can't help but ask, "Is this really a fair comparison?" They're such different bikes, both so good.

    Good review, I switched back to Clinchers in the past year. Curious to know if you have had experience on the Spec. Turbo Cottons and if so, how do the GP5000 TL's compare ?

      I've ridden the old Turbo Cottons- they're fast but I hesitate with the puncture protection.

    I switched from Schwalbe Pro One to GP4000 around 2018 and GP 5000 a few years later. Then in 2020 I switched to S Works 2bliss tyres. I’ve never looked back. The ride quality of the S works and the grip in wet and dry was noticeably immediately.

    I just purchased the Vittoria Corsa N.EXT road tires in 32mm. OMG amazing tire. I will retire my Conti 5000's. Running Zipp 303 Firecrest's. Sorry you're sick. Feel better.

    Good vid, nice and clear, shout out to the Conti 5000s too, lighter and quicker than the original 5000, and supposed to be slightly more puncture resistant. I've had the 5000s on Rovals TL all season and they're fab, fast, grippy, light, no punctures yet.

      Nice! 5000’s are just so good. If you saw my recent Instagram story, you’d know that I’m a little disappointed in how quickly these lose air.

    I just switched from the specialized Roubaix tire to the continental 5000 tire. I felt that the specialized Roubaix tire was a lot smoother than the continental tire. Both size 28.

    Installe these SWORKS 2BR tires (28 size) on my Princeton Carbonworks PEAK 4550 wheels yesterday. You are right in saying that the suggested tire pressures seem a bit high. I typically run 65 PSI with Vittoria Corsa tires , tried to run these 2BR tires at the suggested pressure (around 75 PSI in my case) and the ride was way too firm/rigid and almost unbearable on bumpy sections of road. I will test again with 68 to 70 PSI and see how that goes. Otherwise, the tires mounted pretty easily and they seem to roll ok so far.

    • @outdoorbros_
      @outdoorbros_  ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re pretty good! In the end, mine wouldn’t hold air and I swapped them for a set of Pirelli PZERO TLR SL’s

    I have always liked the s works turbo line road tires . i rode the s works turbo clincher 26c for lots of miles an its a good solid performer with good grip an nice an supple.. Now i use continental on other bikes as well.. Its hard to beat a continental imo overall.. For speed the only tires ive tested as fast or are comparable is the vittoria cosrsa.s but i will agree over all the turbo line is a solid performer i like it even for commuting never even 1 flat ever with the turbo clinchers

    Zipp 303S wont even support 80 P{LSI, believe it maxes at 72. I like the review and although I enjoy the Schwalbe Pro One TLE in 30mm they do weep sealant which is annoying so looking for a change.

      @@outdoorbros_ Well, I grabbed a pair after *much* deliberation, coming off of GP5000 TR S we'll see how i feel about them. A bit confused by Speshy's tire pressure guidelines for these which are *really high* / over the hookless rim max (riding 353's w/ a 72PSI max)

    GP5000 S TR - I found them not very reliable .... maybe mine bad luck? GP5000 (standard) worked for me for 2y. but with S TR (tubeless) i had problems in last 3 months, and i had to pump them up every day.

    Just got these (tube only) paired it with my CLX rapide wheels with silca latex inner tubes and having only done 30 miles on them I can’t give a review or anything yet. But coming from GP5000 on my CLX64 wheels. I can say that these are more comfortable than those. Running the same PSI.
    Only one ride in but I think I like these more than the previous generation turbo tires.
    I think they make these in cotton also? But the color of the wall is darker. Not really light than the current turbo cottons, if that makes sense?

    • @outdoorbros_
      @outdoorbros_  ปีที่แล้ว
