I love your positivity. I haven’t sewn in about 20 yrs, my sewing was 50 yrs old so I bought a new which I haven’t used yet. Since watching you I can’t wait to start learning to quilt and make bags. Thanks for being encouraging and positive. Love your channel.
I am 65 years old and have been a frustrated sewist and quilter for years. I love to try to sew and quilt because I love the beautiful colors and patterns in fabric (just like my card stock and paper for card crafts and flowers in my garden) - thank you for your encouragement and positive videos. I am now retired and want to make gifts with the stash of fabrics and kits that i have collected. After finding you and your videos I feel that I can do it. Thank you for being such a sweet friend!
You've inspired me!!! Making 2 of these for my grandchildren - 2 in Ohio, 2 in NH. I purchased 2 books and will be giving them the book as well. I LOVE to watch your videos! You are such a beautiful inspiration to new sewists/quilters and to those of us who have been doing this a looooooong time!!! I look forward to every new video and enjoy your encouraging comments and love when you laugh at yourself....something I do frequently, to include talking to my machine, quilt, etc. Looking forward to your next video!!!!
I'm a professional stitcher and have worked in Professional Theater costume shops for many years. I currently work at home taking in alterations and custom sewing work. This leaves me little to no time to sew for "fun". Your video today has inspired me to have a fun sewing day and work on projects for myself and that make me happy. 😊 Thank you, friend!❤
I’ve previously mentioned how awesome I think you are. Now that you are moving into quilting I need a next level word. Awesomer? The ghostie is adorable and will be making its way into a future quilt. This tutorial is perfect for beginners and non beginners. You explain things calmly and it’s more like a friend teaching you than an instructor. I have my own soap box concerning the quilt police. I think the term quilt police should be relabeled as quilt show peeps. Those rules pertain to quilts being entered into competitions. The rest of the world, through out history, just wings it and does what they want. For anyone reading this, I promise that anyone who knows you will love whatever quilt you make them. They don’t expect perfection. If that’s not the case then they don’t know you. Thank you so much for making this positive, happy, informative video. I love it.
My mother was one of those quilt show peeps. I was so proud of my 1st quilt. Showed my mom & I didn’t sew for about 10 years after that. So disillusioned after her critique. Yes I’d sewn for about 40 yrs. but quilting is so different & so precise. I now refuse to let others steal my happiness.
I love this sooooooo much!!! My grandson got into ghosts pretty early. As soon as he could talk. My daughter picked his first few costumes for Halloween. He turned 3 last year so she let him pick his own costume. He chose to be a ghost. He looked adorable!!! So making him a ghost quilt and gifting it to him along with the book would earn me granny points!!! 🤩🥳 Gotta start practicing my sewing. I have a lot to learn. 😅 Thanks for rooting for us Chelsea!!! 🙏🏼
I love your soapbox! So true. Enough negativity out there, we need positivity! I was surprised to learn you have only been quilting for a year, I started quilting in 2021 my daughter wanted a quilt. It was the year she was getting married so I started watching video tutorials. I’ve made about twenty quilts since. I always enjoy watching and learning from you ❤
I ordered this book as soon as I saw this, my grandson loves books and I think this will be a hit... My top is done and the sandwich is being pinned later today. I think this is the fastest a project has ever left my brain to completion. There will be two little boys in the Nashville area with these...🎉
When I made my ghost quilt, I sewed my lines about a 1/4 of an inch on each side of the seam, to me that was a little more forgiving than stitching in the ditch. You can also use an elongated serpentine stitch and then there are no worries at all about whether it's straight or not!! Love your tutorials and your positivity!! 💙👻💙
I love this. We were talking about how you are a great teacher. My friend is a stitcher and has her own Facebook page and we found out a lot of the girls watch you too. I have that ditch foot and had no idea what it was for 😂. I have learned so much from you.
just finished the top, now to get the sandwich together and get it quilted. this is a 1st birthday present with the book for my grandson. thanks for sharing this video.
Absolutely LOVED this tutorial. My best friend makes quilts and she’s been trying to get me to try it but I feel like it’s something that would take days to complete. I like to start something and be able to see the finished product. But I think I could do this the way you demonstrated it. Thank you again for your great tutelage
Love learning from you! Your channel is my absolute favorite sewing channel! The Ghostie quilt is adorable and gifting it with the book is perfect and sew sweet! Love, love your positivity! I’ve sewn off and off since I was very young, but my mother was a perfectionist and extremely talented seamstress, I never felt like I could live up to her standards. Even though my Mom has been gone for 25 years, I was still trying to measure up. You’ve taught me to accept myself and that just doing my best is good enough. Thank you so much, finally at 72 years old I’m really enjoying sewing.
Thank you for all you teach us! I have been sewing for 25 plus yrs I think you might like jaybird! Nebula is a fun blocks more advance ! Yes help each other is very important we should help everyone! I hate mean people ❤
❤ this is my third time watching this. I wish there was a way to like something again and again. I’m leaving a hard instead along with this comment. You rock.
I ordered my book on Amazon and it came today! I am so excited. My son is getting married next month, so I am collecting things like this book for any future grandbabies.... no pressure .. no rush... but .. just sayin...😬
I went straight to my local quilt shop, finding the book to purchase and a sample quilt the owner made. I was just too excited to read the book and get my machines set up and start 1 for my grandchildren........Thank you for all the encouragement and positive words to get people sewing and love it. 💚💚💚
Your ghost quilt is adorable. I also like to hand sew my binding down. I use Acorn glue on the inside upper edge, and heat set it with my iron. Doing this avoids having to use clips or pins to hold the binding down while hand sewing. Thanks for another great tutorial.
This video is wonderful. I just love following your videos because you explain things. Not to mention love love your sense of humor. Thanks for sharing this! 💜
I just ordered 3 books and will be making 3 quilts to go along with them for gifts. One will be extra special for my 4yr old granddaughter. Thanks for sharing and I can’t wait to get started on this project
✍Hello Chelsea... I just love your attitude about sewing. I'm 79 and have been sewing since I was 9years old but got serious about it in junior high in Home Economics class. I even got to model in a style show our teacher coordinated. She I married and had my girls I made a lot of their clothes. At first I didn't have sewing machine so my mother-in-law gave me my husband's grandmother s treadle sewing machine. I finally had my husband take me (I didn't learn to drive till I was 37) to buy an inexpensive sewing machine but he started asking the clerk questions about the different machines and he ended up buying me a really nice sewing machine. I had it for years and then he passed away 20 years ago. While I was home on funeral leave I bought a sewing machine from QVC but had to have it repaired twice and just recently bought me a new Singer heavy duty machine. I don't sew as much as I used to but just wanted to be able to do a little sewing now and then. I came across your TH-cam channel just by chance a couple of months ago and just loved your attitude and channel. You're so sweet and make everything you're demonstrating interesting and very fun. Thank you for giving me the urge to start sewing again. This quilt for your nephews is going to be cute and I just know they'll love it. I save my favorite TH-cam channels as my evening entertainment instead of watching TV📺 so i'll be watching late night. Good Night😴 God Bless LuvYa! Bye from Ohio🌹
Random. I thumbed down by mistake while trying to rewind. I thumbed up immediately. Love ur channel. Thank you for helping newbies in this crazy quilt world ❤😊 hoping no negativity comes ur way!
I've been sewing for many years but like you, I was intimated by quilting. I thought it was too complicated and I'd need other tools. Because of you, I just made an awesome patchwork Halloween quilted bag. It's far from perfect but I know my daughter who is a teacher will love it! Thank you for your joy and positive attitude. You are an excellent teacher.
I'm not a stitcher, quilter, etc. I stumbled on your channel and made the pumpkin dish mat bag!! We do not have an abundant of Dollar trees. So, I drove 45 mines to 2 more to get the mats!! it's not perfect, but I love it.!! Thank you!! I love your story about Little house on the Prarie!! I clean and watch hoarders when I need to purge my own home!!!
Hey Chelsea, You are my chocolate bar of the day. You are a breath of fresh air in the quilting and sewing world. I love your happy energy and patient, well-paced instruction. You are very talented while totally self-effacing.
To help manage your scraps, cut them to the largest precut size that you can. Start with fat quarter and go down to 1 inch squares if you want. Since a lot of quilt patterns these days are based on precut sizes. I personally don't get any smaller than 2.5 inch squares. I'm not that accurate all of the time. So I make things as large as I can and square up the blocks.
Have been wanting to make a quilt, just so overwhelming & not sure where or how to start, but think I may give this one a go! Will be saving your video for when I give this a go! Wish me luck!!
Hi Chelsea!! I loved watching you go through this little ghost quilt!! I just finished sewing eight of them. They are for my 8 grandchildren, each one based on their favorite color, each one will be presented with the book! I am making all the bindings now while enjoying your tutorial. They have been SO FUN, and seeing them all smiling back at me sends me into a giddy joyful true happiness !! I cannot wait to give them to all of them! 🥰. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
Hey @chelsea! I have a legit question being new to all this sewing and quilting stuff. Maybe other newbies have the same question! Could you do a live zoom where we could ask questions such as I don’t even know how to use the quilting ruler sad but very true please help lol 😂
Say it louder for the people in the back! ❤😂😂😂 I have learned sew much from you! I have mastered zippers, unpicking to add sliders AND I made a quilted Halloween bag for my Grandbaby for trick or treating ! ❤ thank you amazing Chelsea!
Wow!! I absolutely love the ghostie patchwork quilt! Thank you so much for showing how to do this step by step. I’m ready to try it out! Have a wonderful week of sewing!❤
I love all the colors and prints together they look amazing!! I just started quilting and I have enjoyed using school glue to baste all 3 layers, gets it really smooth, is super inexpensive, has no smell, no mess and comes together very quickly. This turned out darling as all of your stuff does.
Watching this tutorial has filled in so many areas that were a mystery to me concerning quilt making! I also LOVE hand sewing. I always hand sew hems when I make clothing. I think that hand sewn binding is beautiful. Because of some problems with my hands I can’t hand bind anymore. I sew the binding on the back and wrap to front sewing right at the edge of the binding.
I saw a quilter just use school glue to do that step u used the spray glue on . More economical and u wouldn't have to use the pins because it's all glued down. I think her name is Muriel I can't remember but she's very interesting 🤔
Amazing 😊 would it be easier to turn the next pile over so you can take from the top instead of sliding out from the bottom (knowing me the pile would get stuck together and messed up)
I can’t wait to try this. However, I live in Florida with hurricane helene coming we will be without power. I look forward to catching up on all your videos. You rock
🤯 I think I could actually do this. The binding part always scared me off, because I don't know that my attention span could tolerate hand sewing. You just blew the lid off that fear. Plus a smaller quilt would be more achievable. Better approach than any previous attempts. 😊
Our local library has sewing machines to use. We live in a small/medium sized town. So others may have this option if the want to try without much investment
I love your work and how you show how to make each project. Would you please send me a message on how to get the pattern for the dress you made in a long and short style? I've tried to find it in your videos, but I can not find the video. Thank you
I love your positivity. I haven’t sewn in about 20 yrs, my sewing was 50 yrs old so I bought a new which I haven’t used yet. Since watching you I can’t wait to start learning to quilt and make bags. Thanks for being encouraging and positive. Love your channel.

If you don’t have the plastic thing for binding you can use a toilet paper roll. Cut a slit and put the end of binding in slit to hold it then wrap around the tp roll.

I think that hand sewn binding is beautiful. Because of some problems with my hands I can’t hand bind anymore. I sew the binding on the back and wrap to front sewing right at the edge of the binding.

I'm so excited to try. I have a question how long does it take to make ? I have 4 of my Grandchildren that would love to have. Thank for sharing.
I Love watching, I made dish mat tote and duffle bag. Having fun and giving them away.
That’s so cool!
I love your work and how you show how to make each project. Would you please send me a message on how to get the pattern for the dress you made in a long and short style? I've tried to find it in your videos, but I can not find the video. Thank you
I recommend bypassing hest n bond eyes n nose and follow Hailey Youngs Free Pattern for Pieced Eyes N Nose..
I love your tutorials. What “tackle box” do you use for your supplies? I’ve been looking for something similar! Your bag tutorials are my favorites!
Do change the color for the back?
People who repair machines usually also have sewing machines for sale. Hope that helps.
