Go for it! And just a reminder that it doesn’t matter how old you are. As a 63 year old open water swimmer (that had major shoulder surgery at 55) I’ve resolved to go colder and colder. It’s invigorating and liberating. Did my first ice swim this week with no wet suit and had to break some ice. Probably the best thing I’ve done though? I’ve been getting rid of things. Don’t let the stuff you own make you feel obligated to stay in and use it…Move….good luck Max! Hugs to Occy!

Me, too. On a wait list for counseling to go in depth on the 14 items I’ve identified that are holding me back. It’s a short wait list, Thank God. I need major change asap
I’ve spent the last 8 years fighting the muscle wasting disease that was triggered by my cancer treatment. Last June I was finally strong enough to start physical therapy. After 6 months, I realized that I would be going to PT for all of 2023. I’ve decided that this is going to be the year of getting my life back. I’m planning on spending the year getting things in order and starting to do the things that I’ve wanted to do but felt like my health was holding me back. So far this year I’ve learned to snowshoe, planted an herb garden, and booked a trip for this summer. I also just got a compost bin today so I can live a more sustainable life. I feel like this year is going to be the hardest work I’ve done so far, but I believe it will be worth it.

I know this sounds weird. Just lost a dog 2 days ago. Had Diezel for 12 years. Started crying when i saw Occy. Strange for me to publicly admit that not even sure why i am saying it on here but oh well. Love you guys and keep up the great work. Got 4 more dogs that are all 12 and up not looking forward to the coming years.
I have to admit a tear came to my eye. Our departed border collie Lucy loved the vegemite left behind by some Aussie friends. We used it as a treat for the underwater treadmill at rehab. ❤

I loved this vid. especially @the end. It looked like Occy was trying to talk too. When you said... "you've just got to put yourself out there", Occy lifted his paw waving like saying "out there". He was just so into what you were talking about and that it included him. I can't imagine how he must miss you when your adventures don't include him. It's obvious your his world like he is yours. Your message really hit home for me! I come from a very muscial family, and has always told myself that the gene for music skipped me, although I love music. I started taking gutiar lessons at 61, and I LOVE it. It was a huge step for me, as I am a perfectionist too, and don't like to fail. I realized that I had talked myself OUT of this for years! Great video!!
A mentor of mine told me a while ago to "just be yourself". Following that advice has helped, especially in hard times. Thank you for being open about challenges and for being yourself, Max!

I stumbled on your site by accident and have loved the tone and approach of your content. As a 67yr old single bloke I upped from my 55yr plus home city in South Africa and moved to central Portugal. It's a case of meeting my own mortality and doing the things I want to do before it's too late!! It's a HUGE learning curve in a foreign country with different customs and cultural lifestyle. I've been incredibly lucky to have met a few amazingly helpful local people to "hold my hand" getting the wall of redtape and bureaucracy under control - your own approach is paramount in achieving your goals. Kindness abd patience costs nothing. Your vulnerability and open manner of dealing with the "shit happens" events has given me a modified approach to adversity in my life. There are resources online to help guide you along the rocky road that is life. I hope your effort is able to help those on this path. My best wishes to you and Occy for the road ahead. When I was in my 20’s I was terrified to start my own business and here it is 19 years later and it was the best thing I ever did! I have a great life. I’m not saying I don’t struggle we all do from time to time but that is what makes us stronger! I have even made new lifelong friends because of it. You got this Max! Only just seeing this video now. Love the beautiful countryside in this video. Living on dad's property on the Fraser Coast QLD surrounded by bush and forestry on 3 sides is great. There is definitely something about the bush that is therapeutic. Grew up on the farm and enjoying it again now.
I always love watching you run around with Occy! Being able to give your dog the freedom to roam as far as wide as they please as often as they want to is such a beautiful thing 🥹 I made a point to meditate every day outside on the road this year as well and feel like I’ve uncovered SO much about both life and myself. Been watching you and Occy a few years and this really hit me in the heart, I’ve been intending to start my own business for five or more years and never brave enough always self doubt, and the situation finally pushed me that way when my remote job ended and I couldn’t go to the location, I didn’t enjoy it anyway. I left a month ago and have had so much anxiety every step building this, every wall I hit I told myself well that shows you, you aren’t good enough to do it, and I’m at the point where I must advertise and as a reclusive introvert I’m freaking out, even questioning whether I’ll even have one client. You saying to put yourself out and there go for it as many times as you did, watching this at this exact time, so needed !! Found myself in tears 😭thank you for the push and reminder it’s amazing how the universe works, exactly when I needed to hear it ❤

Yay Becky! Totally relate - I started writing a book last year - finished writing now and into the editing -which is taking even longer! Don't know if it will ever get published but I've got so much out of just writing for myself, learnt so much and made so many writing friends. When my book is ready to submit I'm going to get a fancy looking copy printed up for myself and put it on my bookshelf - then I'll always know I made something. -And then it's on to writing the next thing! Definitely planning to sign up for Headspace now. 😊 For myself, one of the things that I am committing to this year is training to ride the Bike MS Ride (in Colorado in June). I was diagnosed with MS 6 years ago and I'm fortunate in that my treatment has been successful in preventing the MS from getting worse. My plan is to ride 120 miles over the 2 days and since I started training I have found a new love (obsession) for getting on my bike as often as I can. Much love to you and King Occy! 💛

I've been thinking about how complicated life is and how there are no simple roads or paths. We are all a tapestry of complications; a family tree of fumbled attempts, successes and failures, wins and losses. But we don't have to confuse mistakes with who we are. It’s ok; we all make them. We can let them take us somewhere new. We can let them shape us into the person we truly want to become. Perhaps the most important thing is not to let our mistakes discourage us from trying again. Sometimes, mistakes aren’t one big blunder but rather a series of little choices that lead to less-than-optimal situations. I'm trying to pay attention to my errors, no matter how big or how small they might seem. And to recognize that each mistake can be an opportunity to build a stronger me. My parents lived in Cooriemungle out in the Otways and it was stunnnnnning! They retired and just had a big property out there in between farming paddocks. Only downside it gets seriously soggy in winter!

Just being vulnerable in the moment is tough. I believe we all have dealt with getting out of our own way at one time or another! Once we get out of our own way everything comes to where we all want to be! The music you choose for your videos I think it would be cool if there'd be some way to put them all together and share them with us or maybe a CD or something just a thought. I have also committed to myself this year to go after everything I want. If it works out yay if not I learn. I started my you tube channel about a rented space homestead and my journey of learning new skills and gaining experience even though I don’t have the land to grow my actual homestead yet. I can learn while I wait. But I’ll keep chasing my goals and I will get there.

Me, too. On a wait list for counseling to go in depth on the 14 items I’ve identified that are holding me back. It’s a short wait list, Thank God. I need major change asap
I’ve spent the last 8 years fighting the muscle wasting disease that was triggered by my cancer treatment. Last June I was finally strong enough to start physical therapy. After 6 months, I realized that I would be going to PT for all of 2023. I’ve decided that this is going to be the year of getting my life back.
I’m planning on spending the year getting things in order and starting to do the things that I’ve wanted to do but felt like my health was holding me back. So far this year I’ve learned to snowshoe, planted an herb garden, and booked a trip for this summer. I also just got a compost bin today so I can live a more sustainable life. I feel like this year is going to be the hardest work I’ve done so far, but I believe it will be worth it.

I know this sounds weird. Just lost a dog 2 days ago. Had Diezel for 12 years. Started crying when i saw Occy. Strange for me to publicly admit that not even sure why i am saying it on here but oh well. Love you guys and keep up the great work. Got 4 more dogs that are all 12 and up not looking forward to the coming years.

I loved this vid. especially @the end. It looked like Occy was trying to talk too. When you said... "you've just got to put yourself out there", Occy lifted his paw waving like saying "out there". He was just so into what you were talking about and that it included him. I can't imagine how he must miss you when your adventures don't include him. It's obvious your his world like he is yours. Your message really hit home for me! I come from a very muscial family, and has always told myself that the gene for music skipped me, although I love music. I started taking gutiar lessons at 61, and I LOVE it. It was a huge step for me, as I am a perfectionist too, and don't like to fail. I realized that I had talked myself OUT of this for years! A mentor of mine told me a while ago to "just be yourself". Following that advice has helped, especially in hard times. Thank you for being open about challenges and for being yourself, Max!

I stumbled on your site by accident and have loved the tone and approach of your content. As a 67yr old single bloke I upped from my 55yr plus home city in South Africa and moved to central Portugal. It's a case of meeting my own mortality and doing the things I want to do before it's too late!! It's a HUGE learning curve in a foreign country with different customs and cultural lifestyle. I've been incredibly lucky to have met a few amazingly helpful local people to "hold my hand" getting the wall of redtape and bureaucracy under control - your own approach is paramount in achieving your goals. Kindness abd patience costs nothing. Your vulnerability and open manner of dealing with the "shit happens" events has given me a modified approach to adversity in my life. There are resources online to help guide you along the rocky road that is life. I hope your effort is able to help those on this path. My best wishes to you and Occy for the road ahead. Be better, build it better and leave things better in your wake. Strength to you both.

When I was in my 20’s I was terrified to start my own business and here it is 19 years later and it was the best thing I ever did! I have a great life. I’m not saying I don’t struggle we all do from time to time but that is what makes us stronger! I have even made new lifelong friends because of it. You got this Max! Only just seeing this video now. Love the beautiful countryside in this video. Living on dad's property on the Fraser Coast QLD surrounded by bush and forestry on 3 sides is great. There is definitely something about the bush that is therapeutic. Grew up on the farm and enjoying it again now.
I always love watching you run around with Occy! Being able to give your dog the freedom to roam as far as wide as they please as often as they want to is such a beautiful thing 🥹 I made a point to meditate every day outside on the road this year as well and feel like I’ve uncovered SO much about both life and myself. Been watching you and Occy a few years and this really hit me in the heart, I’ve been intending to start my own business for five or more years and never brave enough always self doubt, and the situation finally pushed me that way when my remote job ended and I couldn’t go to the location, I didn’t enjoy it anyway. I left a month ago and have had so much anxiety every step building this, every wall I hit I told myself well that shows you, you aren’t good enough to do it, and I’m at the point where I must advertise and as a reclusive introvert I’m freaking out, even questioning whether I’ll even have one client. You saying to put yourself out and there go for it as many times as you did, watching this at this exact time, so needed !! Found myself in tears 😭thank you for the push and reminder it’s amazing how the universe works, exactly when I needed to hear it ❤

Yay Becky! Totally relate - I started writing a book last year - finished writing now and into the editing -which is taking even longer! Don't know if it will ever get published but I've got so much out of just writing for myself, learnt so much and made so many writing friends. When my book is ready to submit I'm going to get a fancy looking copy printed up for myself and put it on my bookshelf - then I'll always know I made something. -And then it's on to writing the next thing! I've come to realise I write because I can't not - and that's its own reward. Wishing you joy with your writing journey!

Hey Max! Loved the scenery in this video and your message as well. Definitely planning to sign up for Headspace now. 😊 For myself, one of the things that I am committing to this year is training to ride the Bike MS Ride (in Colorado in June). I was diagnosed with MS 6 years ago and I'm fortunate in that my treatment has been successful in preventing the MS from getting worse. My plan is to ride 120 miles over the 2 days and since I started training I have found a new love (obsession) for getting on my bike as often as I can. Much love to you and King Occy! 💛

I've been thinking about how complicated life is and how there are no simple roads or paths.
We are all a tapestry of complications; a family tree of fumbled attempts, successes and failures, wins and losses.
But we don't have to confuse mistakes with who we are.
It’s ok; we all make them.
We can let them take us somewhere new.
We can let them shape us into the person we truly want to become.
Perhaps the most important thing is not to let our mistakes discourage us from trying again.
Sometimes, mistakes aren’t one big blunder but rather a series of little choices that lead to less-than-optimal situations.
I'm trying to pay attention to my errors, no matter how big or how small they might seem.
And to recognize that each mistake can be an opportunity to build a stronger me.

My parents lived in Cooriemungle out in the Otways and it was stunnnnnning! They retired and just had a big property out there in between farming paddocks. Only downside it gets seriously soggy in winter!
Always enjoy your videos, the adventures you share and the travelers you meet. We all need to enjoy our journey and appreciate the opportunities that we are offered. You do that very well.
Just being vulnerable in the moment is tough. I believe we all have dealt with getting out of our own way at one time or another! Once we get out of our own way everything comes to where we all want to be! I have also committed to myself this year to go after everything I want. If it works out yay if not I learn. I started my you tube channel about a rented space homestead and my journey of learning new skills and gaining experience even though I don’t have the land to grow my actual homestead yet. I can learn while I wait. But I’ll keep chasing my goals and I will get there.
