Terrific. I am slowly educating my doc about this and he is listening (maybe cuz I am a doc). I have found that I do not convert T4 to T3 with an elevated revT3 and have had symptom relief with compounded slow release T3 twice a day.

Since 2019 I have been dealing with my thyroidectomy. It is so hard to get doctors to hear me when I say I need a full test panel. They wouldn't do it! I now go to Labcorp and order my own testing with all the things you talked about in this spot on amazing video. I hand it to my doctor and have a better experience getting my Synthroid levels right.I went on carnivore last year and lost my synthroid weight gain, 58 pounds released. I feel so good and feel like a new person. Thank you Dr. Berry!!! You helped to save my thyroidectomy body and made my Soul happy! My Hashimotos is so much better too. Yay!!

Many work for a company that provide lab services. I know of one company that has there own hospitals, nursing homes, home health, lab, X-ray, pharmacy and own insurance. Unfortunately they employ 3/4 of the doctors in my area here in Ohio.

This will very likely... *_motivate_* them to change their mind and order the tests for you.

Then, when I told her I didn't want to take synthroid, but armour instead, she told me to find a new doctor 😂 which I did and she was the best doc I ever had until she retired many years later.

Got a 2nd opinion, found out I was severely anemic, which happened after a miscarriage that I should have gone to the er for and didn't know better. My advice, is when they test you and something ends up being off, ask them to test certain nutrients. I was on 2 iron pills a day for a couple months. Check your iron, iodine, b12. Make sure your levels are towards the middle of the scale, not the low end.

I wasted so much time and money trying to find a doctor who would treat my hypothyroidism without luck, until a life coach from Dr William Davis' group on FB told me about Elevate MD. They are in Ohio but do video consults. They order tests from LabCorp, then treat me accordingly. They don't accept insurance, but it is well worth the money. I decided to have my thyroid removed and am now on Synthroid for the rest of my life. There is a greater risk of thyroid cancer if you had breast cancer and vice versa so just as well you removed your thyroid, likely it was cancerous. I had follicular thyroid cancer. Apparently it's linked to low iodine. Breast tissue has iodine receptors too, second only to the thyroid. So make sure you take elemental iodine too.

There is actually a third antibody test that is important to order - TSI (thyroid stimulating immunoglobulins). This is the antibody which triggers the TSH receptors on the thyroid, causing autoimmune hyperthyroidism (I tested positive for these and was diagnosed with Graves'). If you don't know why your Dr won't order the tests you need...it's time to understand how docs are paid. Ask if your doc is part of an ACO? Docs are paid on many models in which they are paid a share of the "savings" that they manage for Medicare or the Manage Care Organization....bottom line is that your health is their last concern and in most cases they are only employees and the system will not allow them to order anything that is outside of the usual checklist.

I've had a partial thyroidectomy, where half my thyroid was removed. The surgeon said that portion of the thyroid had overgrown to the point it was wrapped around my trachea, essentially strangling me. 😳 After the surgery, I experienced worsening asthma symptoms, which the surgeon said was unrelated. Then I developed a sensitivity to corn products. I gaineed about 30lbs and have only been able to lose maybe 10 lbs no matter what ive tried to do. I've been on the keto/carnivore diet for a little over a month, and my asthma symptoms have subsided, my blood pressure has dropped (it was never really high, just a little elevated for me), and I'm overall feeling better with no thyroid symptoms. And yet my TSH level went from about 4 to 25 😳, after being on Armour thyroid instead of levothyroxine for the past 6 months. I see my endocrinologist in a couple weeks, and hopefully we can resolve things. Since going keto/carnivore, I have more energy, less brain fog, better mood, reduced asthma symptoms, etc. My mom has a complicated medical history, I call her Molly the Anomaly lol...apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! 😂😂

My PCP orders TSH, Free T3, Free T3. I was diagnosed about 25 years ago with hoshimito's with the TPO antibodies. I'd ordered reverse T3 and TPO levels myself a few years ago. My (former) endocrinologist was so angry I'd ordered Reverse T3. She said that my thyroid is fine, that it's my cortisol. Intermittent fasting and cold immersion have been helpful regarding cortisol. But if my thyroid was fine I wouldn't be on such a high dose of NP Thyroid, nor would I constantly have either TSH, Free T3 and/ Free T4 out of range. I'm gradually transitioning to a high fat carnivore and investigating Lugol's Iodine. I have been shocked to learn how essential iodine is for the thyroid, yet every endocrinologist has warned me against iodine and healthy fats. They always push either AIP, plant based or Mediterranean. I really have been getting a lot out if your content; as well as your wife's context. I've been looking also at Dr Elizabeth Bright, Dr Cate Shanahan and Sally Norton.
But I always have low TSH, and barely (low end of normal) normal Free T3 Free T4. I've been on NP Thyroid 120MG for about 4 years.

I've been having low-normal TSH for years now, despite my thyroid being chock full of nodules (ranging from Tirads 1-5). But because the TSH is "normal" the public health system in New Zealand won't do anything about the nodules/thyroid beyond once-yearly ultrasound scans (and the occasional CT every 2-3 years). Hearing about these other tests and knowing they exist I'll ask my doctor to do a greater investigation (especially helpful now, since my next yearly scan is in August).

What are the symptoms of somethings not right due to thyroid?
Can is cause mood & memory changes?
Can it Lead to anxiety, apathy, depression, less concentration and attention, impaired memory function, foggy, and slower thinking and speech.
Body feeling cold? I ask because out of no where my better half some type of attack, wasn't feeling themselves right and we had no clue what brought it on. Whet to Dr and found some numbers all over the place.
I appreciate this video! Timely! Thank you!

My 38 year old son was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 10 days old. This was picked up in a test called a Guthrie test where they pricked his heal . That test is not offered now

Thank you so much - I have been on Levothyroxine for over 25 years and I have been questioning my doctor for better testing to see more info. It is a struggle. If you are on Medicare, changing doctors is not very viable. Too many doctors won’t take on new Medicare patients. It doesn’t pay them enough

My daughter and I both have Hashimoto’s and take Synthroid. Only our TSH is checked routinely and T4 occasionally, with our doses often being adjusted based on the TSH. We both still have hypothyroid symptoms, even when our TSH levels are too low but the endocrinologist will reduce our doses of Synthroid based on that one test. Would these other tests be helpful to us? We’ve had results where the TSH was “normal” and T4 was off, and vice versa.
