Coming from an EMS background, the 'gaps' in your memory, Freddo , was most likely shock. Human brains can only get so much input before it shuts down. (It prevents the trauma and injuries from killing you immediately.) Your friend did everything right for you that day. With the patients I'd worked on in the ambulance who had a concussion, talking with them later, sometimes the memories can sneak up on you years later. Also, it takes some time for the brain to register to memory in order to recall it later. Shock short circuits that. Again, it's a primal survival mechanism that humans have. Fantastic video, so good on both of you for putting this out there. Pete, for an untrained 'civilian' and being put in a rough spot with a good friend, you did exactly what a trained person would. That's called instinct, and either you have that or you don't. You were there, in the right place and at the right time. Stay blessed, both of you!

As your parents, this was hard to watch, but it filled in a lot of the gaps we didn’t know at the time. We are so grateful you had Pete with at the time, he is such a level headed sensible young man. Reliving those memories, was obviously very emotional for him. We will always be eternally grateful to him, thank you Pete. As for Lou, what she went though you would not wish on anyone, she was there for Fred every step of the way. Although they are no longer together, we will always be eternally grateful to her, and will always have a special place in our hearts. As a snowboarder myself, I have a lot of respect for backcountry snowboarding. Because of poor visibility or difficult conditions. My good friend was also a very good snowboarder before 2013. He was paralyzed by a motorcycle crash. I will mention you at my next meeting with my good friend. Maybe he already know your channel, i dont know yet. I think it's very nice, your positive attitude and your psychedelic journeys haha. And your friend Pete is a true hero. Have a nice day. best regards Andy

Hello freddo, seen plenty of your videos and I really appreciate them. They are very helpful and encouraging to say the least. Just saw this video and gotta say Pete was probably the best person you could have been with at that time. He did all the right things. I am a complete t7 para and on Oct 26 will be my 1 year anniversary. Went off a ravine (in the desert of Las Vegas, Nevada US) on a quad and was trapped overnight (8hrs) until I found my phone and able to call for help. I went on a quick test ride alone and at night. Keep up the great work with your TH-cam channel and podcast. 🙏👍🤙🏼

I hope you’re dealing with your paralysis in the best way you can, and someone told me once that everything gets better after the one year mark - you stop comparing yourself to the old you, but the you that has worked through the all the struggles of that first year. And I agree, Pete was the perfect companion to have on such a bleak day - forever grateful to him ❤️
It's good to hear your talk about purpose and the next phase. While some days might seem a bit empty and long now you will probably look back in 30 years time and wonder where the time all (and all too quickly) went! Good luck in the next step.

That was so good Freddo (and Pete), I initially saw how long it was and thought ahh nahhh and then I started it thinking I'd do it in stages and time flew by; what a great, relaxed, concise convo. Pete you have an amazingly screwed on head for a young guy, wise beyond your years. I have to say wheelchair or no wheelchair Freddo I also have no idea what I'm doing with my life so you aren't alone there, sometimes I think that's just the travelling mentality of us, who is to say after 8+ years in one place you wouldn't want to move on anyway.. or not, but that's the big decision! Anyway great podcast / video xx

You have defiantly given me an impact in life Freddo, watching your content has given me a clear insight of gratitude and knowing there is so much to live for. What prompted you to film this, too? I mean, I listened to this more than watched it, and one could hear Tim's emotions so much, and how much this experience traumatised him, but I seems it was a really useful exercise for him to talk about it. I thought back to when I first knew of you, because Richard mentioned me and you together in their podcast, so I looked you up, and I am so grateful to have crossed paths with you and Benji and your podcast. Thanks for opening up to the world about such a private issue, both of you.
Weirdly enough he messaged me yesterday, the anniversary of the accident, and he is well, he lives in the UK but is coming to visit soon. We have plans to record another podcast, so that will be fun
