I own 8 GTI and interface is super simple to use. Problem is that reviewers spend short amount of time with car and actually don't figure it out how to use multimedia features, so they blame manufacturer that they made it worse than last one. Truth is that i also watched so many reviews and didn't like the car from photos and videos, but anyway i ordered one and when car came, my impression was almost impeccable for GOLF, car is on another level from every golf before. Everything you need you can make two touch enabled by shortcuts, touch sensitive buttons on steering wheel are so easy and intuitive to use with no bugs whatsoever, car is so finely engineered, much better than 7.5 GTD i had before. You can say JLR has bad touch sensitive controls on steering wheel but VW nailed it. My car is made in Germany not in Mexico that can also cause difference.

The door open chime on the new Golf R and GTI sounds WAY BETTER than the annoying beep that other VW’s have. That’s just me.
Hey do you know how to keep the car from warning you to keep your hands on the steering wheel? Keep your hands on the steering wheel, there done and it’s not hard.
I'm super impressed by the performance. I'm a manual guy and i'd probably go with the DSG here because of how good it is... It's really too bad the User interface is so poor. No sale for me. The day they fix that mess, I'll buy one!
Thats what reviewers are saying, actual ownership reveals that the user interface is amazing. Just something you need to get used to.
Yeah I test drive a 22 GTI today and I already got used to the infotainment. It’s not bad at all just takes getting used to
You’ll have to pay extra for the DSG but yeah I’d go for the DSG too
From real drivers they all say its fine once you use it

It has a different AWD system with a specialized rear diff, the mk7 just had a normal open diff in the back
For $45, you could find better options tbh
