  • During the 1500’s and more specifically, the reign of King Henry VIII, Two queens were executed and the carelessly buried within the grounds of st Peter ad vincula at the Tower of London. These two ladies had been stripped of everything and then once brewed, essentially forgotten. There is even a myth that the graves of these two queens, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, were actually mixed up in the documentation process and that the current markers that show their supposed location is wrong. Henry viii wanted rid of Anne and Catherine but little would he know, that around 350 years later, another queen would come along and save their remains and memory from oblivion. Queen Victoria, in her restoration of the chapel of st Peter ad binocular, did more than restore a building, she restored a sense of peace and dignity to the remains of not just these two queens, but everyone who was buried within the grounds.
