Personally im not having kids because I see those people with like 6 kids and go "thats too many i dont need to bring my own into the world too" and I know the shit i had to deal with growing up (nothing bad just health issues) and i dont wanna make anyone else deal with it
LOL I feel that - I've definitely thought 'surely this massive family has pretty much had kids *for* me???' so I was almost relieved looking into these numbers and realising that it's actually not accounting to an insane raise in the population. I think that not wanting to pass on the possibility of health issues to your own children is a completely understandable reason to not have children. that is completely selfless and so empathetic of you!
The other day, this nice dad-aged man who goes to my local YMCA asked me why I don't have a family. He said that it was important to get out of the house and start a family. I'm 32, and I live with my brother in my home. I know that this man was being nice; I understand that it's just his values and he's encouraging it because in his mind that's one of the most important things. He was super receptive when I explained to him that some people make babies and some people make art, plenty of people do both, but I'm just an artist. Also I have like 17 nieces and nephews. I have 11 siblings. We're doing fine. If I wanted to be more of a paternal figure, I would make more of an effort to participate in their lives as an uncle. Just thought I'd share.
awww he was clearly coming from a good place, but not everyone is excited about the idea of becoming a parent! it’s great that you got the chance to share your perspective about the topic with him. I know two brothers who live together and they’re perfectly happy that way hahaha, there shouldn’t be any pressure to live any differently than the way you’re most content with. my partner is one of many siblings too, and I’ve always thought he was crazy for wanting a child himself! it’s like, but you grew up around babies!! don’t you want a break??! 😆
Wild that you made a video on this topic when only very recently my friend started writing a play all about this! I don't want kids, many reasons, and we chatted back and forth about our reasons, and so many of the things we spoke about, you also mentioned. Tossing up the pros and cons of having kids rather than straight-up procreating seems to be an incredibly universal experience!
Well I love this video and I love how much research and stats you put in here and then saying Im not smarter than the Google bot I only do what it tells me.... me: ded laughing brb. Also my response to your video: the 20 year olds need to get off "the tiktok" and do more fun things uhm 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Great video your intro is amazing. ❤❤❤

Also gay.🎉
But people should be allowed to be parents if they want regardless of that
