Herb Alpert from the 1974 special filmed at Elstree Studios outside of London. Taken from the original master tape, great quality. Web site: www.sleepynight-records.com
Much respect to Herb Alpert. An amazing entertainer, businessman, and compassionate human being. Though, when he says "this is one of our newer songs" without crediting composer Chuck Mangione it doesn't sit right. His audience might mistakenly believe that this was a TJB original rather than a cover.
"One of our new songs?" Great that Herb Alpert is playing this song, but Um, you may want to mention that Chuck wrote it.... Maybe he did at the end. I didn't hang all the way.
Cool, Dave Frishberg, who I know best from his novelty song My Attorney Bernie, which used to be in regular rotation on the Dr. Demento show. Good song look it up if you're inspired! Well done and entertaining.
Could you please post Work Song, A Taste of Honey, or Spanish Flea from the 1974 show? I have audio recordings of each and would love to see the video again. Thanks.
Chuck Mangione! I seem to remember that Chuck Mangione, Gato Barbieri and Al DiMeola were all popular at this time? At least they were popular with my oldest sister?
Inflected with that hip Tijuana Taxi shuffle feel. Way cool.
This is the man who identified and promoted Karen and Fichard Carpenter to success!
Very fun to hear the TJB version of this classic Chuck Mangione piece. It's like two different flavors of the same great dessert.
😊❤❤❤❤❤❤

That might be a good thing in this case, I'm sure Chuck wouldn't want to be associated with this elevator music version of his music.
@@lwskiner Good point!
You seriously think a man of Herb Alpert's calibre would need to steal Chuck Mangione's thunder?
Chuck was signed to A&M the same year this was taped - 1974.

He gave the Chuck Mangione song a little Herb Alpert flavor-a little more laid back a west coast chill.

Sounds better on Chuck’s flugelhorn, after all he wrote it.

Ufff que lujo músical
Every time I see the guy with the trombone in this clip, he makes me think of Mike Wolf on American Pickers.
@Sleepynightrecords
Please, can you post "vento bravo". It was a tune TJB played in this TV Special at the begining.-
Thank You

Will do, give us a few days. Thanks.

It´s Chuck Mangione the autor of this piece?
If not him ... who has written this melody?
Yes you are right it is Chuck.
Chuck wrote this song. Be sure to watch the Blue Devils tear this song up in 1976-a classic in drum corps history.

Man, I like Herb, but he should have credited Chuck Mangione with the song. The implication is that Herb wrote it. He didn't.
Nice job, though.

@hornedrum
no kidding . . .who was that guy?
Live? Why does the bass player play something other than the real bass line at about 2:44? Dubbed later?
I just listened three times and I can't hear it (can see the edit)
yeah nothing there. just a cut away from the player.
Could you upload the muppet parts
