    Thank you Dr. Mistry and Dr. Lee. I have been seeking help for my TMJD for over 20 years. These videos have been more educational and more helpful than anything/anyone I have encountered in those two decades. I recently ordered the book, and it helped me find a doctor with both a FICCMO and MICCMO designation. My first appointment is next week. Fingers crossed that he will be able to help me.

    Thank you! I find that having some realistic hope is beneficial to enduring TMD discomfort. My main symptom is muscle spasms. Searching online for answers leaves me so depressed as all I find are horror stories. I also have OCD, which gets triggered by these horror stories, so I end up ruminating over the discomfort, getting more anxious, and end up hopeless.
    So I'll read this, (despite it's negative title)

    Why is this not taught in dental and medical school? It’s ridiculous. I know more than my doctors and dentists combined on this subject. It’s like the medical community ignores the jaw as not a part of the human body. I’ve been telling all my providers to show your videos to further their own training.

      I totally agree that it’s ridiculous that this isn’t taught in medical and dental schools. I don’t have a good answer as to why it’s not.

    My ICCMO dentist did not offer me an orthotic but instead referred me to a Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) chiropractor that also specializes in intra-oral adjustments. Can these type of chiropractors realign your jaw or is an orthotic/ orthodontics needed?

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it really depends on the severity of the TMJ issue, so your question is difficult to answer. I do sometimes utilize the unique skills of upper cervical chiropractors in conjunction with my treatment.

    I heard a lot about "LVI dentist" (Las Vegas Institut) for treating TMJD. What are your thoughts about them ? Did they use the same techniques as you ?
    Thank you for your work, you give me some hope 👍

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most LVI dentists use neuromuscular dentistry (NMD) which is the same method I use. But our treatments differ after that initial similarity. :)

    Hey, what if Tmj occurs due to bruxism from medication side effects. How would you go about treating this… I see your videos are targeted at structural causes but what if the root cause is a brain issue that is signalling the trigemenial nerve to tell the jaw to clench chronically and uncontrollably and therefore causing tight muscles. Would that not be the first port of call to treat rather than dealing with the secondary symptom which is the tmj disorder. I would love to hear your feedback Thanks in advance 😊

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re absolutely positive the bruxism is due ONLY to the medication and not due to sleep disordered breathing or stress, then you could talk to your PCP about switching meds.

    I use prolotherapy to heal mine. Find a prolotherapist to do treatment on TMJ. It really worked for me

    How many time tounge up exercise is good for tmj

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not recommend doing tongue exercises if you have tmjd as they can exacerbate existing tmjd pain/issues.

    Dr. Mistry, do you know if TMJD could make a person more susceptible to cold sores, if they have the herpes virus? I have TMJD, and had never experienced a cold sore until a few years ago. I began experiencing TMJD approx a year prior. I am a RDH, and got to wondering since herpes virus can lie dormant in the trigeminal nerve ganglion, if maybe inflammation in the area could provoke an outbreak, or "awaken" the virus? PS, I love your videos, and mention you to my patients with TMJ issues

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t seen that per se but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a correlation there!
