The lesson here is: no matter what, have the attacker react to you instead of you reacting to the attacker!

I used to practice martial arts 30 years ago I'm 61 now I still practice some on my own I've watched a lot of utube self defense videos I just found your Chanel on Utube and this is no doubt the most real no BS channel I've seen. I know you're for real when you say if you go against a knife you're gonna get cut and people need to quit believing that their martial art is going to make them immune to getting hit or cut people need to train for real life because if they don't it might cost them their life. This channel is a breath of fresh air to me because these are things that really happen in defensive encounters and martial artists need to quit selling the fluff and get real with their students. I really like this channel you are teaching not just the mechanics of reality based self defense but there's the psychological element you add that is very important in a confrontation the psychology is just as important as the mechanics. Reality is the most important thing we can't lie to ourselves and think we're prepared. I'll keep watching I think there's a lot to be learned here.

Professor, even though this is serious, it was Hilarious how you was hitting Kenny with the padded bat, but timing is everything in this situation. This is excellent here Gentleman! You Guys energy alone would stay in my mind, if I was to be in a any self defense confrontation!

I think this video is an eye-opener not found on the internet or even in the dojo. Most people would prefer flashy stuff without knowing or caring if it works on the street. I hope the greater audience pays attention and starts to practice self-defense with that awareness.

In our Vee AJ classes we’d frequently have karate black belts come in and they couldn’t deal with what’s going on in class with white belts who have been in class a couple months.

More than 30 years ago, my kickboxing instructor in Glasgow taught us all that if someone has a baseball bat or a knife, your legs are your longest limbs so use them to keep the opponent away by kicking their shins or knees until you can create the space to run away. Nothing has changed as far as I can see.

  •  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Thank you sirs. Much respect and appreciation for lifting the veil of ignorance. This is the best practical explanation and application of what Miyamoto Musashi was trying to say in "A Book Of Five Rings" I have ever seen. It is not just about the baseball bat, sword, knife, punch, kick, tackle, stick, spear, etc. You should lead your enemy if you want to survive. Don't let your enemy lead you. Unfortunately we have been taught that self-defense means waiting for your enemy to attack, then reacting. We see it in the movies and many martial arts class we pay hard earned money to attend all the time. It is drilled into us. Local laws may even threaten citizens with punishment if it is determined they moved against a perceived threat. Stay alive and let your lawyer worry about that.

I just can't help but note, two things he has wrong. Get there early if the guy is getting out of the car with the ball bat shut the door on him. If a guy is reaching in his pocket during a confrontation. Grabbed his wrist keep it forced in his pocket and attack with the other hands and both feet step on his foot stomp something punch him in the face just keep it coming because he has something in that pocket and it's not his telephone number or a tip for you. Don't bust a move and let that guy stabbed and cut your arm what you need is to fight with both hands like a Wing Chun guy bust a move with the offhand to grab his armpit and elbow area blocking with the other arm, or catching his hand if you can after you have slowed it down. If you attack with both hands at once you probably can block with the lower hand and grab the upper arm with the higher hand and catch that wrist. As an old farmer I would like to mention that that guy with the bat only has the torque from the centerline of his body facing your body. If there's distance between you and he can't swing and hit you run towards the hand he has the bat in. You want to get there so his feet are planted and his spine is turned toward you and the back of the swing is the part that you catch so if he swings in hitch you he can't get much going on it until he gets that break where you really drive the ball.

I have to say I had a similar moment where I had a patient at a mental health facility grab a wooden stick. My thinking at the time was that if I made a move first, it would catch him off guard. It worked out. Didn’t know if that was a thing, but seeing this video makes sense. Motion causes motion.

The most critical thing when facing a bat is to move toward the side the guy is holding the bat as much as possible and then Rush him. His feet placement determines where The Sweet spot of the swing is and you want to be upriver as far as you can from the sweet spot where the umpire calls a strike.

People need to prepare themselves mentally, before they're attacked. Make up scenarios in your head. "What would I do if thugs got on the train (or bus) with golf clubs? How many are there? Where can I position myself for best advantage?" This video made me realize that when I ride the train, or bus, I like to sit next to a window and watch the scenery go by. That just means I'm trapped, with no room to move. From now on, I'm sitting on the aisle or one of the long seats, and towards the rear on the bus. I'll see them coming, and the aisle makes them come at me one at a time.

I love the concept and agree with not stand at the end of the power point of the circle where the power is deadly by attacking the attacker. I like the idea of merging with his rotational momentum once you connect and continuing the turn to trip and off balance him also.

It doesn't matter what it is...... Gholf club, stick, sword, baseball bat, knife, ........it's all just an extension of the arm/hand/fist.
In other words the attackers natural tool of attack, namely his arm just got longer, the defence remains the same.
    (Talking from experience)

It depends on the situation and how the guy comes at you with the bat. If you're in a situation like you are right now on the mat. The second dude starts to cock back, Yes, you rush him before he can set. Especially if running is not an option! If GOD goes before us, who can stand against us! Amen!

I love this guy because he's confrontational. If he had me against that wall I would scurry it would be to my right and that would make him turn towards me and his swinging hand would be towards the wall and hopefully when he swung and hit that wall by mistake I could step in there quick but you may just have to try and get past this guy when he doesn't for swing backswing. If you pointed a bat in my face and then you looked at the ground to thump it and I knew you were going to hit me with that bat as soon as you pointed the bad at me and then you bent over and looked at the ground looked away from my eyes for a second I'd kick you as hard as I could right in the face or the neck or somewhere thereabouts and I'm not sure what I do next but it be anything but quit. If you see somebody opening a car door with a bat in his hand and you can get their shut that car door on him hold him in that car door. Also make them corner you just your back against the wall is not cornered you need to move in the direction of your benefit if he has that bat in his right hand move to your right so when he's facing you he will have the bat on the side that has the wall.

  • @dangerdavefreestyle

The other various techniques learned for this sortof thing (bat) with martial arts are effective when they are if applied properly for the right scenario or the right wielder, but they dont cover this street scenario the ways that you have, and all that stuff you showed is very real, this is an eye opener.
"Gotta get him before he gets you", thing is though, one must know what to do from there. (i have no idea!) it involves a punch, kick, slap, throw, trip, disarm the weapon and take it from him etc.... lol u cant just move in and not know what to do. u also cant time it, let him swing and do something about it either if u dont know what to do. ❤

Hmmm...so why when Kenny tried to come in earlier did he get hit??? Just before the 10:00 min mark, Kenny tried to attack in and got hit. Why? And then when you do it, it works perfectly. It would seem to me that Kenny delayed swinging just enough to let you be successful. You're doing a bit of a parlor trick.
And do you really need to shout the entire time? Is that how you actually teach people? I know you're trying to show some intensity, but it gets old real fast.
I've been in this stuff for 35+ years, I don't say that to impress or to make any claims. I say it to show I've seen all this stuff before. And one thing I've picked up over the years is that the more guys scream and yell the more they show their insecurity. Insecurity??? Oh not insecure of their abilities, etc. But insecure that they have not been more successful, that their methods or teachings have not attracted a bigger audience. I see that you've been on TH-cam since 2017 and you only have 13.5K subscribers. That clown from Detroit self defense has over 2 MILLION subs!!! He's making a fortune!! And of course it is very annoying to see shit like that. But don't keep screaming at your viewers, and been angry towards them. Just make your videos and educate your viewers.
