Been a ski instructor for 22 years and let me tell you, you're doing fine. Your instructor didn't think anything of it and has considered it a normal part of the learning process if he is worth anything. When other people pick things up quickly it's usually because of cross learnings. Meaning prior experiences have enough similarities that they are starting with certain familiarities with those movement patterns. I always explain it like this; your brain has to build neuro-pathways to do things. It's like the process of going from a dirt path in the woods to a super highway. Day one there's nothing to guide you. Your hacking through the woods with a machete. Then the next time there's the trail you cut last time and the faint outline of a path on the ground. Eventually the path becomes easier to follow and you know the way. Then it turns into a narrow dirt road. After a while longer its a basic paved road. Then after some more time it becomes a wider road capable of transporting more traffic. Then a highway and eventually a large freeway. So those two guys essentially started with dirt paths and all the vegetation hacked back. You were clearing a path for the first time.

@@charlotteelizabeth8918 I’m training in Les Menuires with all the other Chalet Hosts/ Chefs in the company for around 10 days. We don’t find out the actual resort we’ll be working in until the end of training then we move there for a week before guests arrive to set up the chalet!! So who knows where I’ll end up haha.

If VIP pay for board rental I would recommend doing that rather than buying one. You will be able to get a beginner board and then you can buy some decent snowboard wear. Good luck!

ooo thank you so much for this advice! do you have any recco's for boots?

@@charlotteelizabeth8918 I bought my jacket, salopettes and boots from Burton online. The boots have a Boa fastening system and are really comfortable for me. I wouldn’t get lace up ones as although they look good they are a pain to do up. Ideally go to a snowboard shop and get your boots fitted. Believe it or not TK Maxx is a great place to get winter wear and base layers. I bought my helmet and goggles from there first season. Don’t worry about being a beginner. Everyone has to start somewhere. I am still learning and get really frustrated that I am not perfect at it but it takes practice and perseverance. Having a lesson like you did was the best thing as you can successfully stand on a snowboard and are already starting to make turns. I look forward to seeing how you get on for the season.

Love the ski season videos 🙌🏻 Do you have a UK passport? As I’ve found a lot of ski season jobs have said they don’t take UK passport holders now since brexit :/ So just wondering if you do/how you have gone about it and if it’s affected the process at all xx

Thank you!!! I do have a UK passport, went to get my visa for France yday, VIP help to sort and organise this process. but yes it's harder to find a company that will help with it. My experience has been simple in the sense VIPSKI facilitate it for you! sorry I can't be more help xx maybe just look for companies who will or I know Canada is a fair bit easier to get a visa

Skiing is still better, fact. Boarding is great but such a hassle.
