Hey Kiara, so cool too see you skiing. I also did alpine ski racing in the Netherlands untill I went to college. Hope you've had some great runs. Haha.
Probably varies a lot depending where you are, but up in Canada where Im from, I started ski racing when I was 11 and that was considered a later start where I lived. But I think some areas of the US are probably different, the race in this video looked more chill then what I was used to in U16 before I quite racing. Again it may be different but it was a massive commitment when I was racing, even at 16 I skied 5-6 days a week and had to miss a lot of school.
łëø no joke, but the ski expectations in austria or Germany are way higher ... it’s not that easy to compete against the others because most of the ski racer are in a club called : Skikader,where only the best can be . They train often times in the week and for me , who’s only on a ski club , I can’t compete against them

Where are the ski racers and mountain lovers ?! ❤️🏔 #pow #snowlove Im skiing since I’m 1 and a half , and I’m snowboarding since I’m 5. I’m in a ski club and my dad and my bigger sister are professional ski trainers so you can really call me mountain addicted 🤤
I don’t know much about giant slalom (the one where the two poles are next to each other with fabric in between them), but in slalom (the one where it’s just poles, which are called gates) you are supposed to hit them! Basically, by hitting the gates instead of going around them completely, you travel a shorter distance, making your time much faster! (I hope this helps haha)
@@KiaraMadisen I guess you are right about that. I had my edges done almost every time going into a slalom race mostly because I was going "too low" and if I didn't have that grip I would be dnf most of the times. :D Can you tell slalom wasn't my fave?
I got caught so off guard by the intro since I have been at white pass for over 20 days this year. I followed an Idaho ski team member into a run and he lost a ski after the first turn.
hi! i know you probably wanted Kiara to answer this but figured i could help out. it's called a "chinbar" or "chinny". you wear it for slalom but not GS and it functions to protect your face from a gate. you also wear shinguards, which are also in the video to protect your shins when you shin a gate.

The icier the better isn't it? I personaly always prefered the track to be as icy as possible when it came to slalom.
I mean if you have super good edges...I always get nervous and sit in the back seat on the ice though :/
