- An aerial view dating from c 1976 or 1977 of Walsall St Pauls Street Bus Station. The buses are all in West Midlands PTE blue/cream livery : Daimler CVG6, Daimler Fleetlines, Bristol VRs and Leyland Nationals.

Great to see Walsall like this.......
Brings back memories.... the fine old rail station was also demolished during the late 1970s and replaced with the usual soul-less concrete jacket...
I would have been around six or seven at the time and at infant school then. Remember the cream and blue buses of the period. In those days I used to look forward to visiting Walsall; now, in my early fifties, hardly go there!
Standing on the top of Hatherton Street Carpark? I love going up there for 10mins
The bus station in the video is the SECOND version, opened in 1975.
The ORIGINAL version was opened around 1936/37 and was originally designed to have an underground bus garage as part of the scheme !
The current bus station is version THREE.
The problems with version three include many buses entering the station cross the path of buses leaving. The current station reflects a higher priority given to image than to practicality.
the thought of garage UNDER the original bus station is frightening! Most of the time it would have been underwater!
Bloody awful looking structure, soon as it was finished it cracked. Proposed green roof never happened.
There were several batches of WMPTE Leyland Nationals.
The lowest numbered was 102 (HHA102L) this later got renumbered 5102.
The highest numbered was 7052 (DOC52V) this later got renumbered 1052.
In between there were several batches such as7 4467 to 4526 which later were renumbered 1467 to 1526; 6801 to 6860 which got renumbered 1801 to 1826; 7008 to 7052 that later were numbered 1008 to 1052.
They told me to go away basicially when i last went up the top of the carpark
Yes, top of Hatherton Road car park.
Unfortunately when I was last there the top floor was fenced off !
Early 80 top floor used to park Royal mail vans.

Good ole’ Walsall - when it was a wonderful town to live in and be proud to say you live here. Not anymore, it’s a cesspit full of filthy, foul mouthed people of all nationalities spouting their vitriol in front of children and well-respected residents of the town. My advice is get out of this awful place and live a better, healthier life and let ‘them’ fight over it. You know the people I’m talking about... just look at Caldmore, Palfrey, Pleck and Birchills to name a few of the shady areas now classed as no-go areas. What a dump. Corrupt council, dodgy people and awful road system make Walsall top of your ‘avoids’ list.
I've seen you copy and paste this on a few videos. You shouldn't let what ever hatred you possess make you look a bit of a psycho mate. Just saying.
