    This dude was my guitar teacher in NJ circa early 90s. I knew him as Ron Thal. Would teach me 80s riffs and tell me story about the band I was into (like Twister Sister, etc.). Nice fella…….EDIT: my grammar sucks.

    Just the fact alone that he mentioned the early Queensryche albums, tells me that we're kindred spirits that definitely grew up in the same time period. The EP, The Warning, and Rage for Order were shocking at the time they were released, very impactful.

    • @dowens3781
      @dowens3781 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every metalhead from the 80's listened to those albums, dude. Or at least the first EP. After that I got into heavier stuff like Metallica and Slayer, so Queensryche didn't really do it for me anymore, especially since the two albums that followed the EP were more prog than heavy. I go back into them when Operation: Mindcrime came out, then back out of them when Empire came out.

    Chinese Democracy is a great album, just not a great "Guns N Roses" album. Presenting it as an Axl solo album would have been more appropriate.

    • @JamesMooreMarketing
      @JamesMooreMarketing 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your right Sean, I wish Axl would have just went solo and released amazing music with different artists performing with him like Slash has done. Instead of trying to keep alive a dead band.
      20 years of music he has thats went undone and now his voice will never be able to do them justice if they were to be completed.

    I love grunge, but I'll take "the party, the party" over grunge any day. Life is to short for all that unnecessary depression. The 80's were a happy time. The 90's so depressing.

      Yup

    • @dowens3781
      @dowens3781 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Really? I fucking hated the 80's with all that gay happy pop and new wave and preppie and day glo fashions - my only salvation was thrash metal. And I love deep dark intense music and lyrics, so I didn't think that the 90's were depressing at all, but everything pretty much went downhill after Kurt died - the spirit of the 90's grunge and alternative movement died with him.

    • @gunnerseven7724
      @gunnerseven7724 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dowens3781 I'm with you on all that new wave bs etc. nothing is perfect. But the dark music from the 80s was also better. Slayer, kreator, obituary, megadeth, anthrax, metallica, danzig etc.

    • @dowens3781
      @dowens3781 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gunnerseven7724
      That's why I said that thrash metal was my salvation. And Danzig was more early 90's than 80's - his first solo album came out in 1988, but his peak of popularity was in 1991/92/93/94. Obituary were also more of a 90's band - their first album came out in 1989, which is when rock and metal really began to transition out of the style and vibe of the 80's. The end of one decade usually sets the tone for the following one.
