Since this weapon can only be dropped via a glitch, its not programmed to be held by an enemy and the code simply defaults to an error handler code which says that if weapon cannot be identified properly damage values will always be equal to 1/4 of a heart piece.
No it just does 1 damage, look at the damage value.

I think the issue is with the item's data values, while yes it does count as a weapon, when it's in Link's hands it sacrifices his health for endless damage. While in the hands of a Moblin or Bokoblin it doesn't sacrifice their health, since you can't drain it like you do with Link
It's also not draining his health after he used the glitch so it basically was depowered
Either this or the weapon itself increases Link's base attack value by a lot instead of the weapon having the attack value.
I think that the one hit kill is bound to the location, outside of the trial the weapon deal the least amount of damage possible
I think whatever weapon you use when picking up the one hit obliterator gives it that weapons base damage, that is covered up by infinite weapon damage. Keep in mind he has a korok leaf a lot of the time so he probably got the one hit obliterator with the korok leaf.
Im pretty sure Link is just too powerful
It would be interesting for every mob to have the one hit obliterator, it could be slightly harder than master mode if your not careful

@@ThornyFox because the one hit obliterator probably does just 1/4 a heart of damage but when PLAYER holds it it probably just does the 1/4 heart and then the game just kills whatever the PLAYER hits when holding the weapon but because its probably not coded to just kill the thing it hits when its a monster.

I love these videos. Everytime I think I'm getting closer to understanding this complex game, your videos show me I'm far away from it. Can't even always tell what is actually possible and what is just random editing or little tricks. It's a fun guessing game! :D

It doesn’t work because technically the one hit obliterator only does 0.25 damage but the coders made it so that when fully boosted in the players hand because they made the cooldown in the player class. Which is why it doesn’t even change color when you get hit by it from a mob.

That bomb reflect transition was beautiful
Reasons maybe why the 1-hit obliterator doesnt actually 1-tap link:
1. Dispite the weapon having infinite damage to MOSTERS. it only does a quarter to link. eitehr because they aren't the hero thus wont listen. or because link is the hero that's ment to wield them thus the obliterator REFUSES to damage link fatally.
2. Funny coding thing where the damage values are actually entirely seperate. small damage with monsters holding it but big damage when link uses it.
3. I have no clue but hey speculation is fun
My guess is since it’s not link holding it it just does the damage of that boko hitting you but it looks like it’s using the one hit obliterator. That’s my guess
My guess is that it only does the one hit kill in a special "mode". The flag didn't fully trigger to switch to that mode, due to the Trial of Wood glitch. Something that should have been tested is if it did one hit kills in Link's hand after leaving the great plateau.
@@FrogworfKnight yea that should of been checked, but its entirely possible this weapon was programmed to instant kill monster types, and link isnt a "monster type"
however I would like to see someone test if it does 1 hit, etc with link before I can go with that route I gave xD

Bokos are so weak that they make the One Hit Obliterator look more like a mystical glowing fly swatter.
To be fair, you only have a quarter heart during the quest where you use the one hit obliterator, so, if you were actually in the quest, the monsters would be able to one-hit you with it ;)
Yeah that makes me wonder if monsters health would be reduced to 1 HP 🤔 I just need a way to actually drop the Obliterator during the quest

I think it was programmed so that the weapon doesnt one hit, but link one hits with the weapon
The transitions were really interesting, but something about the video just felt... off. I don't know why. Anyway, I feel like you'd know this, but the reason why it doesn't work is because the OHO has a base damage of 1, and it becomes infinity when the trial is underway and link has it.
Yeah I knew it worked that way with Link when you do the glitch to keep it, I just thought it might be different with monsters. Especially since it glows on the Plateau. But can't say I'm TOO surprised with the results.

There is probably a check in the code to see who is holding the weapon. I suspect they knew the possibility of it not being with link for whatever reason and added the check. Even though your not suppose to be able to drop it, someone probably still added the check (its possible the not being able to drop it, etc probably wasnt under consideration or understood to be the thing at the time of its programming xD)
I guess it just resorts to its form where it only does one damage to do it recharging, because it’s confused.

If I had to guess when that game mode is active all Killarney entities are set to 1HP so it only does 1 damage. It is much easier from a programming perspective to make everything weaker during a limited time than program Infinity Damage.
Monsters lack the ability to utilize weapons to there full potential. Their weapons never break because they are not swinging them nearly as hard as Link does.

I can’t wait for your next video but I got a question can you make a glitch where you get the one hit obliterater after completing the whole champions ballad quest
That's very easy. Do the menu overloading glitch near the obliterator, when you close the inventory tap B to put away your bow then pick up the obliterator. It will be in your inventory but not equipped. Just teleport away from the plateau to end the quest and to acquire the obliterator permanently.
But if what you want is to get the obliterator after the champion's ballad is complete, then that is impossible.
