Thank you for saving these birds, and all of the other animals you are working so hard to save. Thank you for this video. This is the first I've ever heard of this species. I'm a native Texan, but grew up in Austin and El Paso.
I leave on Marta’s Vineyard and a close relative to these birds, the Heath Hen, went extinct here in April 1932 when the last one, a male named Booming Ben did not call and was never seen or heard again. So tragic and sad. I would have loved to watch them do their mating dance and heard their booming calls on the Katama plain!
We need to help them and make sure they don't go extinct. I would like to help. I would volunteer to assist in any way possible. Do you have any volunteer program?
I had a campaign to save the prairie chickens in north Colorado assuming that these are comparable to coop chickens for food during hard times. Does anyone know how veritable the comparison? Otherwise animals do not need saving.
No, since they are an endangered species their care and handing is highly regulated. They need a very specific habitat for recruitment to adulthood. I do know of one ranch in Goliad that participates in this program in conjunction with TPWD.
Thank you your protecting the prairie chicken land you guys to keep away from the human city of Houston also from many people and more people are moving to Texas from and also from Arizona and California and everywhere are moving to Houston, Texas and I hope so the Prairie Chicken Refuge would fin for keeping away from the human city of Houston by the city is growing by building new houses from many people coming to Houston by moving almost everyday and I hope the Refuge would be okay.

The ones I had on my land, it was the fireants that took them out in the 80's.
I will be glad if I can be of any help to these birds
I think if we can have some more shelters for these birds in other regions of the world so that we can preserve the breed and help the mother nature .
We just need to save more prairies for perpetuity

They need to make the available to the home naturalist and hobiest. I think private owners would take this species survival to the next level.
The ones professionally raised have way less chances of surviving. Hobbyists would develop easy food.
Thanks
I guess there are no way to buy chicks and raise them myself?

What is the powder being put on the birds at 6:50 ?
Anti parasite powder possibly
Why not gather the eggs and increase hatching rate?? once numbers are back up...etc.
Looks like some intense predator control is in need
