I grew up around chickens and it still amazes me how much each chickens personality really shines in unique ways. They are definitely smart, grow bonds and are extremely curious and funny pets.

Parrot and cockatiel brains are smaller and they also have personalities.
Avian brain are tightly packed with nerves, about twice as much compared to mammals. And although they only have 'lizard' brain, their brain is actually arranged in really complex manner, making them a really smart animal.

Use to think chickens were just chickens, until I got them. Can honestly say they bring such value to your life. They're funny, cute, inquisitive, clever little things. Love locking them in bed of a night all sitting on their roost, talking to you as you say goodnight ♥️

My one hen came running to me, looked me in the eye and sat by me.. Another time a squirrel was chasing me and Blossom the chicken ran after it and nearly killed the thing.. Haha some of them can fly really well. I was driving on Kauai on a highway and a chicken suddenly flew right in front of my car right across the entire highway. It was spectacular.

As long as the chicken's not too fat and heavy, they can usually fly fairly well. I have two 5-month-old cockerels now, and they can both fly up (and/or bound up a ten-foot ladder) into their loft. Considering how many predators have broken into their rooster house in the past, I don't want to trim their wings in case they need to fly to safety.

As somebody who raises chickens, they are so unique! They have personalities, a set language, and are actually fairly intelligent! I love them.

Man I love chickens. We had one for each member of our family and they had names and everything. They were just for eggs. But they loved being pet. OH AND THE *DUCK* . The duck had a diaper and came and watched Movies with us inside. She also followed us around the house because he had imprinted on us.

I grew with chickens and had a rooster when I was a youngster. But it's not until my kids recently had their own pet chickens I've come to discover how absolutely amazing they are in everyway. They are smart and tough and resilient.

+Reagan Buck when I was younger my family had a huge backyard and it had over 50 chickens and over 100 chicks, we sold every 2nd chicken we counted (because why not?) and raised all the small chicks, we even got a goose(well this was our 3rd one, because I am a cruel moma :c) and 2 ducks :D but then we had to get rid of all of the chickens but we kept the goose and ducks :D

Charlie Reddick You can order chicks or eggs for hatching online. The chicks can survive transport because they need a day or two after hatching to dry off and for their bones to harden so they have some yolk left inside them to live off of.

4 of my chickens started a band and were traveling a lot until one died of a heroin overdose. It's cute but when they take up instruments it can lead to heartbreak.

They are actually really easy to get. Get yourself a little incubator, order some hatching eggs online, wait ~month and you have your little peepers.
Just make sure to do your research for *all* stages of their lives. For example, you *need* to turn their eggs while they are incubating, 3 times a day, or get an incubator that will do it for you. None of it is hard to do, it's just important to actually do it.

In my experience raising chickens is they are the most useful animal we have. They are also smarter than most people think and actually have personalities to some degree making good pets once they trust you.😊

Well, my grandparents have a chicken farm (for eggs only) and some chicken are really smart. Some are dumb, some are bullies, some are loners, some are selfless. A lot like people. I spent a lot of time with them when I was a kid, I named each one. But when my best chicken friend died after 10 years of raising her I didn't want such heartbreak again...
But still, I NEVER EAT CHICKEN.

I don't raise animals but I sure do think they are cute, and sometimes also appreciate how they taste. Just like all those carnivorous animals. They don't really live to kill, they kill because they hunger. *Have a cat and a rat living together as friends? Totally possible. But starve the cat for a day or two and we'll see.*
