    I got the 4060 model of this. Warning to those who are thinking of adding a second SSD. The factory screw in place over the second SSD slot is SOO tight from their assembling line that you are very likely going to strip the screw trying to unscrew it with your normal household screwdriver. I had this same problem with trying to unscrew the WIFI card on their Flow X13 model from last year as well. Others on the reddit complained the same problem. It seems to be a factory assembly issue with many Asus products.

      But should I buy it, I got a good price of around £1800 or just a bit over 2000 usd
      I am looking for good for video playback and enough for xbox game pass games
      Basic work for writing essay etc. and mainly flexibility and upgradability.

    Around 8:59 you mention the thermal pad for the nvme, but if you look close (at least me watching the video 😂) it looks like there is the typical wax/plastic strip that is suppose to be pealed off as you can see it covering the actual thermal pad. Did someone at the factory forget to take it off? If in fact that’s what I’m seeing? Awesome video.

    Trying to decide between the X16 with 4070 and the just announced Surface Laptop Studio 2 with a 4060.
    Main use is drawing and 2nd use is gaming/web browsing.
    Hard to find reviews of people using the X16 as a drawing tablet, specifically with the Surface Pen 2. I know that pen works with the X16, but not sure how that compares to using it on the Surface Laptop Studio.
    I like the ability to swap out hardware with the X16 though (ram, SSD, etc). Any idea how well it works for drawing compared to the Surface lineup? Thanks!

    • @TechGuyBeau
      @TechGuyBeau  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The surface pen works very well on the x16 and the x13 asus. I don’t notice much difference between it and surfaces (I’ve had surface pro 4 through 8, and surface laptop go).

    • @weatherornotsubaru
      @weatherornotsubaru 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TechGuyBeau Thanks! Have you had a chance to compare the Asus pen and the Surface Pen 2 on the X16? This is mainly for my Wife and we are both Microsoft junkies. She's particular about the feel and 'cleanliness' of the pen on the screen (i.e. clean lines without jitter, etc) and loves the surface pen 2.
      Right now she has a Surfacebook 2, but the battery in the screen is dead so can't really remove/rotate it anymore (it'll die before you get the screen plugged back in). It's also been a huge pain for gaming, seems to have trouble recognizing the main GPU. She also has a smaller ipad for 'on the go' drawing which is great too.
      Anyway, we can get the Surface Laptop Studio 2 for about $2,900 with the RTX 4060...but then saw someone suggest the X16 and personally I like the X16 better. My Wife likes convenience though, and the tilt screen on the Surface Laptop Studio 2 seems like a pro for her vs the flip screen on the X16. Hoping to find the X16 on display at BestBuy or something where she can test it.
      I really appreciate the in-depth video of the X16! I've seen you can add external GPU's to it as well...and swapping the SSD's and memory is a huge plus. I've been building desktops for decades and always prefer the option of swapping hardware as needed. I'm just more of a desktop guy, and with all the laptop options out there it's hard to decide on the best one.

    Right now in the US we can get the 2023 ROG Flow X16 with 13th Gen i9 and RTX 4070 for $2,700. I'm torn between that and the 2023 ROG Zephyrus M16 ($1,950) also with i9 + RTX 4070. Price and battery life aren't that important to me, and since specs are so similar it's all coming down to cooling and durability. Been leaning toward the X16 but concerned about long-term durability of the hinges compared to the M16 screen that doesn't flip. I don't upgrade often (coming from a VivoBook K series with i7 and GTX 960m) so some future-proofing might be a consideration as well, though in 2023 both of these models can upgrade both RAM slots (from what I understand) and I have no plans to use XG mobile unless the 4070 gets old real fast. Gameplay would include some AAA but nothing insane. Thoughts on the cooling/durability comparison?

    • @TechGuyBeau
      @TechGuyBeau  ปีที่แล้ว

      An m16 will vastly outperform a x16, but it’s also a thicker laptop and a different form factor overall. Bang for the buck you’re going to have a hard time comparing the more expensive X 16 to the cheaper and more powerful M16
      Last year there were more things to consider since there were Ryzen CPU’s in some models and Intel and others. Seeing as it is basically Intel across-the-board, you might as well get the M 16 unless being convertible is critical

    • @Valmed87
      @Valmed87 ปีที่แล้ว

      speaking strictly about the hinges, flips have better quality hinges then nonflips. So as long as you won't even use it as a flip, they should last forever.
      Unless you really need 4090 and are willing to pay 4500 $/€ for it, or if you hate glossy screens, or if you need the 2 extra tweeters....I honestly see no advantage in getting the M16.

      Appx $1500 USD (I’m Canadian). Gaming laptops are kinda pricy this year to be honest. It’s one of the cheaper ones out there, but still a bit pricy.
      I think you are also paying for the touch, cooling, screen, and other features. If you want a pure gaming laptop I think the g16 would be a better guy
