- It has been more than three decades since the last U.S. military base was removed from the Philippines, but amid fears of an expansionist China, Manila is granting more U.S. military access to sites across the country. VOA’s Bill Gallo visited some of the sites and has this report. Camera: Ron Lopez.

Probably the governor forgot in WW2 it was not only the Philippines that was attacked by Imperial Japan. There were other countries aswell and some of them don't even have any US bases. Even if there are no US bases in the Philippines, Japan will still attack it because it was one of the best strategic areas and also a resource rich country to control Asia. At present, even if we don't have any US bases in our country, China will still see the Philippines as an enemy because of the conflicts we have in the West Philippine Sea. Also, the Philippines has mutual defense treaty with the US which meant other than the US defending us if we are attacked, it also goes both ways hence the word 'mutual' meaning the Philippines will help defend the US if it is being attacked.

The Philippines has very FEW natural resources and the comments that is it resource rich is just not correct. China does not want to attack The Philippines BUT it is strategically placed in it's geographic location.
