Ikora Rey: Luzaku, there's a report I have of an Acolyte with your name that once spared a Guardian during the first assault by the Lucent Brood on Mars. But I see a Wizard here before me. With a normal Hive, I'd assume you'd taken on a new morph. But we know so little about Hive Lightbearers. Are you the same Luzaku?
Luzaku: This one is Luzaku. This one was reforged - for a purpose. Now this one seeks to understand that purpose.
Ikora Rey: You're saying the Light changed you?
Luzaku: After passing through the threshold and arriving here... this one was changed.
Ikora Rey: How? Why?
Luzaku: This one does not know. But this one welcomes you to join her in contemplation on it.

Luzaku changed classes to get her weekly pinnacles done
Acolytes are hunters if lightbearers, everyone uses hunter so... I think it's wrong for me

Luzaku didn't like double jumps so she changed classes
Now she has to deal with falling to her death because she pressed the jump button 0.1 milliseconds late

That's certainly interesting to think about.
I'm only assuming she evolved into a wizard because of the inherent progressive and transformative properties of the light.
Certainly an interesting topic though. We know the light (or traveler) doesn't discriminate when it comes to who or what it touches.
I think it’s like how our memories (Darkness) gave an intelligible shape to the Pale Heart. Luzaku’s natural desires and morph instincts were given form in the Pale Heart.
it's because she abandoned the sword logic. the Traveler knew Luzaku represents a second chance for the Hive as a species, so it changed her into a wizard so she can raise her own brood and teach them to be like her.
Those reborn in the Light are sterile, though, as mentioned by Saladin’s Ghost. Then again, we don’t actually know much about the reproductive cycle of the Hive, so who knows.
Interesting theory
I was wondering about this exact subject, after going back to Euloch's lore tab and noting the use of a Shredder, usually an Acolyte weapon. Glad Bungie also remembered and drew attention to exactly that.

Apparently, she just felt compelled to speak that way when she became a Hive Wizard. She sees all of her resurrections as a new person rather than the same one reborn.
Went from a Hunter main to a Warlock main. As a Titan main I respect it.

The lore entry that actually first featured Luzaku and her Ghost was from the Ghosts perspective and he calls her by name multiple times. It's possible the Guardians Ghost overheard her name

@@giantslayer9335yeah Ghosts just talk over comms/radios, no magic. It's why we were able to "hack" into the Hive Ghost-net for Throne World patrols

We still don’t know how hive turn into knights, wizards, acolytes, or thrall. Dul Incaru was once a thrall but turned into the wizard we know.
It's probably the same process as the krill taking morphs for whichever purposes they wanted to serve. A thrall gets enough power and becomes an acolyte, and acolyte wants to do magic so they become a wizard.
Gonna assume it has to do with sword logic and natural hive magic levels. Seems they go from thrall to acolyte and then any gender can become knights, or if they have enough hive magic female acolytes become wizards. Granted, Nokris sorta throws a wrench in that idea but he's one of Oryx's kids so who knows.
In the books of sorrow, a process is mentioned where Krill (proto-hive) can take certain morphs, like how ants and bees can change to fulfill different purposes.
Implied throughout lore that all Hive start as Thrall (babies), then eat enough Light/gain enough Tithes to become Acolytes.
They then choose Knight or Wizard - generally aligning with male or female. However, you can have female Knights (uncommon) or, in one exception, male Wizards (highly rare) Worth noting that the exceptions do seem to be God-tier: Female Knight Xivu Arath, who co-created the species, and male Wizard Nokris, necromancer and son of Oryx.
Im gonna take a guess and say that it's part of the species natural biology, like how bugs can molt. Thralls are the adolescents, Acoloytes would be a transitional stage, and Knights and Wizards are adults (Wizards are always female, Knights are either male or female and probably function as a soldier/worker class). Nokris and Oryx are the only ones that seem to be exceptions, as Oryx is the King morph (probably uses sone kind of royal jelly like bees), and Im not sure where Nokris fits. A mutation perhaps, which wouldnt be surprising amongst Oryxs children, Ir Haluk and Ir Anuk started out as 1 being that turned into 2 as it was cut in half
“Changed” probably means she doesn’t remember anything similarly to guardians perhaps
But she was a guardian before entering the heart
What ikora was describing was Luzaku changing from an acolyte lightbearer to a Wizard lightbearer.

Nah, shes flying solo. Chaos reach is only good in boss fight damage phases. Storm is the better choice for her. Easy ad clear and pvp monster super. Though i was more of a solar lock myself before strand.

Pretty sure it was a normal acolyte, and acolytes after gathering enough tithes chose between a knight or wizard morph.

I feel like a part of the reason why she's a Hive Wizard is because they float and that'd make it easier for her to traverse the Lost Sector with you and help you.
Hope she gets a more unique model in the future. Or, at least, unique animations so she doesn't keep trying to bombard you with Arc Hive Wizard projectiles when talking to you. Wonder if for some reason they weren't able to get her to stay in the usual Hive Wizard idle animations? The one where they just hover in place and look like they're praying. Which she does briefly do that before switching to an attack animation.

Thanks to Dr. Travelerstein, Luzaku finally became a real Wizard!
Technically speaking classes are just belief. So it makes sense why a hunter can become a warlock since it would just be a quick armor chamge

Luzaku merely aged and grew old. We know the Hive age structure more or less. They birth as thrall and grow into acolyte, and whether they're male, they'll age into a knight, and if they're female, they age into wizards
Thats not how that works~ Knights and Wizards are what you might consider "disciplines" for the hive. "Female" thrall don't just age into wizards, it requires many grueling years of study into hive magic. "Male" thrall dont just age into Knights, it requires many years of full commitment and tithing to the sword logic. Nokris (a wizard) was, notably, male. And Xivu Arath (a knight) is notably female.

@@wood5596the gender isn't specified in Eulochs lore tab. Euloch uses he/him when referring to the Guardian Luzaku is fighting but not Luzaku herself

Not personally, but there's a lore book entry with her in it (Lucent Tales) that has her Ghost trying to get her to kill a Guardian and she refuses to
I have a feeling Luzaku might turn back evil under the pretense of searching for a purpose unless she experiences what humanity has to offer. She needs the feelings, which Savathun rejected when she was in the Last City while possessing Osiris' body, to learn more from and show her there is more to this world.

Why trans? Didn't she just changed class from hunter to warlock? 🤔I think in the lore entry where she spared the guardian she was already referred to as 'she' but I'm not 100% sure.

@@stuffandthings617 We have yet to see an Acolyte Warlock, or a female Acolyte. We know from the Mother and King morphs that Hive gender themselves based on the morph that feels correct.
An Acolyte morph felt right in life, but changed to Wizard. Sounds trans to me!

Ikora will die to that Vex Hydra and be replaced by Luzaku as the new Warlock Vanguard just as Crow replaced Cayde-6. Saint-14 will not be the new Titan Vanguard after Zavala’s death, that will be Sloane possessed by Ahsa.
