  • Health experts suggest quality over quantity applies to homework... and some California lawmakers agree. There's a bill moving through the Assembly that would change how homework is assigned to students across all school districts in the state. But, will this make children happier? On Mornings on 2 the Nine, we ask Stanford Children's Health about the impact a heavy load of homework may have on a child, and how to spot burn-out in school-aged children.

Nothing should be more important than having one parent at home for the children

Let's give them more time to practice video games and social media. That's really doing their mental acuity a solid.

Competency test scores aren't low enough yet i guess. California ranks 29th out of 50 states in education from k-12. And they only spend $13,686 per student which is below the national average of $15,446. Yet the school board members ate some of the highest paidnin the nation.

Sounds good to me. Meaningful homework rather than useless homework? Great. Huge props to the lawmakers in california.

But how does the law define what is meaningful and not?

It's called practice. Life is all a practice.

I think giving out homework just enough to show the different examples in the subject's concept and showing the different type of problems a child will encounter for that subject is fine enough to prove the point. I know know algebra they give out a lot of homework and you're using the same type of solving technique 20-30 times before you have to solve it differently. To me, that's inefficient and a waste of time solving the problems the same way for 20-30 problems with just different numbers every time.

Always pandering to the lowest common denominator.
