Chaos on the Amsterdam Canals - Collisions and Traffic Jams

- On the last day of summer (2018) sun all boats took one more trip trough the Amsterdam Canals. Combined with a rowing race this resulted in pure chaos. Traffic jams and collisions were often there. Some race boats had to wait for minutes losing precious time. And for some stakes were high. Others made the best out of it and started to sing while waiting without a chance to move. Enjoy the vid!

To all the clueless people. This isnt what its like normally. Notice the large group of spectators. This is because there is a rowing match going on and for some reason its intersecting with normal traffic instead of being on a closed course

Nice capture. But what a silly thing to do to race boats in a tight canal.
That is exactly what makes this race so entertaining. We usually row on wide lakes rivers and the sea. This year was an exception due to the extreme warm weather wich made everyone go onto the water again.

For a bicycle race, roads are closed.
For a rally or a hillclimb, roads are closed.
For a boat race.. hey let's do this on the same water where everybody else is sailing :D
It's about time the Amsterdam Authorities made the canal system one-way

I've only seen traffic jams on the road, but I've never seen a boat.
I see this often ,here in Amsterdam ..In fact I my self own a long boat . We're gonna need a bigger kannel
