    Yes, you are right. Grappling is not something you can really be any good at in only a couple months. Same with striking really. Can you imagine a guy with only 2 months training in Muay going up against Rodtang??

    • @boshirahmed
      @boshirahmed 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Just proves MMA is a complete martial art. However the amount of time these ground guys spend on the ground cannot be underestimated. Average ground guy would struggle with rodtang.

      @@boshirahmed Not at all. A novice could destroy him. It's just not even a constest, a highschool kid who has been wrestling for 4 years would maul him. Same for a jujitsu/judo guy.

      personally i feel that u can learn much more effective grappling in a short period than striking but it takes longer to properly learn grappling in comparison with striking. i basically only watched mma fights and did a free week trial for bjj and i was able to easily submit my muay thai friends when we were playing around after training muay thai. i think with one year of bjj you raise your likelihood of defeating someone in an unarmed 1v1 tremendously while with 1 year of muay thai you can still get knock out by some dude that just throws hands fast and hard.

      @@boshirahmed a blue belt can easily submit roadtang if they can get it to the ground without getting hit but if they have 0 experience in getting hit they will crumble with the first kick or punch xD

      @@metalface_villain it also comes down to confidence in sparring, eg I have sparred boxers with are average who I can handle with kicks, with a confident boxer I am not fast enough to push them back, the same goes for me I am not confident in front of wrestler. Roadtang was against very confident grappler so was less confident, same way in striking the grappler was avoided to engage in the striking.

    We all know which direction any fight like this will go if it makes it past the first round.
    Most likely why they don't start the round with MMA.

      thats what makes it interesting. imagine a boxer has one round to ko a guy before he just gets taken down and choked out. you would need mike tyson levels of power to be successful cause the other guy will just stall the whole round.

      I love this fight for exactly that reason, it really demonstrates the necessity for learning to grapple if you want to be a complete fighter. Rodtang wins in a striking match, but as soon as grappling was introduced he was totally out of his depth.

    Rodtang definetly lasted quite a bit on the ground with DJ before getting submitted he is a hell of a warrior he did not even tap, and I was suprised by the ability of Demetrious Johnson to not get KO'd in the first round of Muay Thai by Rodtang, overall an amazing fight and could you make a video if Rodtang with this very limited level of wrestling could enter the top 15 of the UFC, and an amazing video Gabriel! 🎉

    • @terolek
      @terolek 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Due to his accomplishments in Muay Thai and how famous he is, he would get fast tracked in the UFC.
      They would give him a favorable matchup, so that he could win and go up the ranks. Like they did with Michael Page, Michael Chandler, Alex Pereira...
      So Roatang would even get into the top 10 pretty quickly.
      But if he would rely on just his skills to go up the ranks, I don't think he would go far with his grappling skills

      @@terolek Definetly, thank you for sharing your opinion it turns out we think the same, I thought the exact same thing but then again I am not sure that he would go past top 10 place because there are serious wrestlers in Flyweight of the UFC like Pantoja or Mokaev, or even Brandon Moreno but that is just my opinion.

      if they picked and chose fights like they do with striking stars that they wanna build up until their have enough time to learn some grappling then i think raodtang could do pretty well but if they just threw him in with wrestlers and grapplers from the start he wouldn't make it too far.

    Correct me if Im wrong, but I think Rodtang said he took the fight knowing he'd lose. And DJ also said he knew he wouldn't win in striking against Rodtang, hence why he finished it with the choke.

      submission, kickboxing and muay thai are leagues above anything u will see in the ufc but one's mma in general is very bad compared o the ufc, especially after the very low weight classes. the ufc just has better, more skilled and well rounded athletes with much deeper divisions. another thing i like about one though is the hydration tests, the ruleset in general and scoring for mma.

    Hi guys.
    I want to start learning Kickboxing, currently I don't have access to the gym so I decided to practice shadow boxing and learn technique and cardio. But I read that during sparrings you can damage your brain that may cause diseases. How to avoid it or minimize 'cause my future job requires strong focus and constant learning. Thanks

    • @putinski666
      @putinski666 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Just make sure you don't spar hard like it's a real fight and you'll be fine. Sparring should be light an technical especially if you're not trying to be a pro fighter. This depends on the gym you join and the egos of your training partners.

    DJ should have been elbowing the hell out of Rodtang's back and neck to open up the throat for a choke, idk if that was banned or not. He also could have used a trick of using your chin as a 3rd lever and pain compliance, I learned that as a wrestler. He is also a wrestler, so I would assume he knows how to do that, but he didn't do it for some reason.

    • @hk-4738
      @hk-4738 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Khabib did not neck crank Conor. The stoppage is officially listed as a neck crank, yes, but everybody with some knowledge in the strangulation arts agree on it actually being a fulcrum choke.
      Also, I am unsure whether breaking Rodtang's jaw would be sufficient to make him tap.
