    By far the best review I’ve seen on these markers!!! Arteza should really put this video on their website, as I struggled to get a good blend initially. I absolutely love them now that I tried your tips! Thank you once again for a proper review, instead of essentially click bait videos the other card makers share. I would love to see more reviews of art products from you comparing different brands etc. I would also love to see more of your artwork/watercolor process outside of card making. Thanks for sharing!

      @@TheGypsyChic1 I use watercolof brush pens, and a friend brought me these. They work nothing alike, but your video gives some insight on where to take these next.
      They are such a beautifully odd product. They have this interesting blend of properties thats like watercolor and art marker. Its peculiar but has such great potiential. Thank you for the video. I'm a order some paper, I really only use arches so that could be the struggle I was having.

    • @TheGypsyChic1
      @TheGypsyChic1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would love to try watercolor brushes someday! Yes, experiment with different papers. I love arches for most watercolors, but just not the no line coloring. Embossing makes it way easier as well. I have linked the 90lb, which is the cheapest...they also have a 140lb paper that is a bit more.

    I agree! Best review ever! Thank you so much Stephanie! I love the sunset! Ur worse than me when it comes to being too critical on urself! lol! Especially when this was ur first attempt! U have come so far, from when u first started! I love that u said “u don’t need the Tim holtz mat” !! I still don’t have this myself, but it is on my list! I can guarantee you this video will definitely appeal to everyone! When I first started, I had to get a few things at a time! It’s taken me over two years to build up the collection I have of all different kinds of mixed media! Just between the whole set of Copics and my complete set of Holbein, that was close to $700!!😱 but before I bought these, I did buy cheaper paint and markers. I practice and practice and practice! Again thank you so much for sharing and taking the time! I really felt like I learned a lot today!😀💗👍🏼

      Aw, thank you so much!! I spend many hours researching, testing and trying my best to give a fair and honest review...so I really appreciate your comment! Ha, I know but I can't help it. Thanks you, I really don't want people to think they have to go broke crafting. But, new supplies are so fun when you can splurge. When I first started I couldn't afford much...and I will never forget the days when $36 for two CTMH stamps was half a weeks groceries etc. OMG, your Holbein collection must be a thing of beauty!!! Watercolors or Gouache? I've tried the gouache and would love the whole range, when I can find a good deal! Enjoy your Copic and Holbein collections! How Fun!!! Thanks so much for the sweet comment!

      Stephanie, when I was watching this video I was thinking to myself that companies should reach out to you to do in depth reviews. It's nearly a class. You not only review the product at hand, but you teach about everything that you're using...including the glass mat and tools. You cover all of the different techniques that can be done with the product. I love to learn all of the possible techniques that can be used with my art supplies before and after getting them. I've seen so many reviews and this really is the best one that I've seen! I watched a couple of your haul videos and I love how you swatch and talk about your products. A lot of people just show what they got and move onto the next thing. I absolutely prefer your way. I'm very happy to have found your channel. Merry Christmas! Sincerely...Stephanie R. 😊💖

      @@TheGypsyChic1 I am experiencing this. I am very inspired by Giovanna Garzoni, a brilliant 16th century painter. Her technique is very challenging to emulate. I (very unexpectedly) realized her technique may be “suggested” with the Arzteca pens with water and “tightened up” with Staedtler finetips! That is why, in my opinion, letting go and playing (with a child’s trust) can lead to some unexpected and startling revelations. Joie de vivre-k

    Hi, I was watching this on silent mode so I am sorry if you answered this question already. I want to use these as rich colors like brush markers mostly. For background colors to my sketches. I usually use pentel art brush pens but they don't have many options in colors. I do know these are water colors but am I able to use them as if they are regular brush markers with the bold rich color? Sorry I am not too familiar with watercolors pens so not even sure if thats a dumb question? Anyway I don't want to diluted the color I just want to use them as is with only the rich color will that blend alone well? or do you need water so theres no strokes?

    • @TheGypsyChic1
      @TheGypsyChic1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vivian! Thanks for watching. I don't think you would enjoy these markers for the primary purpose of backgrounds. They are not juicy enough to provide a big rich punch of colors right away. I find them much better for drawing, coloring and details. Personally, I feel regular watercolors would be better for backgrounds. For you, I would recommend Meilang amzn.to/3zyoUfq (affordable) or White Nights WC amzn.to/3iHWxo8 (affordable and better quality). I hope that helps!

They are brush pens with a dye based ink in them. They aren't lightfast, but are fun. They only work well on Bristol Smooth or watercolor paper, the better the paper usually the better the results. I hope that helps. If you have any more questions, I'm happy to help. Just leave a seperate comment, to make sure I see it. I don't see follow up comments most of the time. ;)

    Do you think these would work well in the Klara Markova books?

    • @TheGypsyChic1
      @TheGypsyChic1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tina Lee I have not tried it on coloring books. I would think they would work, as long as the paper will hold up to light washes of color. They don’t start off too wet, and you would want to just use a damp paint brush not a water rush for sure. They do have a nice point, that would fit nicely in tight corners. I hope that helps!

    I would add this one still learning thought ..It is important to snap those lids down so they are snug on the pens . Push the lids down until you hear or feel a good solid snap .Just slipping the lids on might not be enough. It might even be wise to check the lids are on tight upon their delivery just to be sure . .Again thanks for sharing

      Hi Sandy! I haven't had any problems with the lids staying on, without pushing tight. All three sets I've had, the lids go off and on easily. I haven't had any problems with them drying out over the years. Have you had problems with them drying out? If you have any problems, there is a number on the back to call. Their customer service is very helpful from what I have heard. You are so welcome!

    I have those Arteza, brushes but they create harsh lines towards the edge. I couldn’t blend them well whatever paper I use. Have you tried reviewing Chromatek compared to Arteza. Chromatek seems drier but blends well based on the You Tube review. Arteza seems so wet. What do you think? Appreciate a response. Thank you.

      @TheGypsyChic1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Nanette. I'm sorry you are getting harsh edges. I would be happy to try to help you enjoy them if I can. What papers have you tried? I have trouble with harsh lines when I use sketchbooks (even Arteza's) and non-watercolor paper. They do start kind of dry on cotton paper, but you can use a waterbrush to pull the color out. A lot of people also like it on Strathmore Bristol smooth paper. I just made a new video trying a new set, and they seem to work just as well to me. I don't have Chromatek, but if they sent me them I would be happy to review those as well. ;)

      @@TheGypsyChic1 I might be using Fabriano or Strathmore watercolor pad. I know that I was applying it over a dried watercolor paint, spreading it using a watercolor brush just to give it some depth. It wouldn’t spread. Instead, it created hard edges. Anyway, trying it again before I replied to you USING a water brush this time, it worked! Maybe, I was not doing it correctly back then.Your tutorial really helped me a lot. Thank you. I almost gave up on these brush pens which I had for more than a year now. I never thought how useful and wonderful they can be.

    Is the arteza 100% cotton watercolour paper a good product for arteza real watercolour pens

    • @TheGypsyChic1
      @TheGypsyChic1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, the Arteza 100% cotton works well. But it did bleed a bit, as I showed in this video. Any 100% cotton will work beautifully. Some people like the Strathmore Bristol paper as well. I thought the colors were more vibrant on cotton paper. Try them with whichever watercolor paper you already have, as many papers work for these pens.

      Sorry, I haven't tried all the brands that offer cotton paper with these pens. With Arteza paper, just make sure before you order you are saving enough. Often I find the best brands such as Arches, are almost the same price. Personally, I would choose Arches in that case. I hope that helps.

    I would VERY MUCH appreciate an ANSWER to this. When a given Arteza Real Brush Pen runs out of ink, can a replacement be purchased individually? Or can a new ink supply for a pen be purchased?

    • @TheGypsyChic1
      @TheGypsyChic1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Currently, you can only purchase a replacement single color set of 4 for $6.99. Which is still my biggest complaint for these pens, but better then having to buy a complete new set of 48 etc. I am guessing since Arteza gives free shipping on their website...maybe it is the only affordable option for them at this time. That being said, I've used mine for two years and have not had one color run out yet. I hope that helps.

      Did they change them? The big set I have has names. When Arteza first started the company, they did not...and I gave them feedback to put names on each marker. So, they made to sets after 2019 to have names on the barrels. I agree with you, all products need a name or at least a number or I'm not a fan at all.

    6.20 you said these were affordable alternatives to copics. What? Copics are alcohol based markers and these are not. They’re two different things. That’s like saying “crayola colored pencils are an affordable alternative to water color paints”. It makes no sense. If you want to suggest an alternative, it’s probably better that the supplies are in the same family.

    • @TheGypsyChic1
      @TheGypsyChic1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, they are a dye based not alcohol ink based. I feel these are an affordable option because you can achieve beautiful images that look similar to copic colored images...For the price of 7 Copic markers, much like some people do with Zig clean color markers. I've also recommended the EverBlend Markers as a the alcohol marker alternative in a different video. Most of my viewers don't care about what the color medium is made out of, they just want to make pretty things.
