- In this video I race the 3k steeplechase at Payton Jordan Invitational in an attempt to qualify to the US Olympic Team Trials. This is the first step toward my Olympic dream, and I was SO NERVOUS. I started following Allie just a few months ago as I was in the middle of training for a half marathon and seeing her achieve this goal is absolutely mind boggling. Congrats again, Allie. For this to be your first track race in years, you rocked it. Your splits were steady for the first 2700m then at 300m to go you picked it up. With 100m to go, the signature Allie O strong finish kicked in and you sprinted across the finish for an automatic bid to Hayward Field in June. The wind was brutal but it didn't seem to bother you. Awesome job, Allie 🏃♀
It was a windy day! I am excited to race another steeple in (hopefully) better conditions and with more people around me.

Congratulations! I'm 60, and dealing with a restrictive eating disorder (again... been 50+ yrs), and was a figure skater, early in the process of training, but my folks pulled the plug. I'll be rooting for you !! You've done so much in such a short period of time (it will seem shorter in many more years), and putting your health first can only make everything else better.

Congratulations - Sub 10 and OTQ in your first steeple in several years is superb. And you had the fastest last lap in the field. Based on that, you have a good chance of making it through the heats to the final at the Trials.
