Lenny Pickett Is classic, he’s truly one of the original masters. I’m really drawn to Kenni Holmen’s altissimo as a modern player, Eric Marienthal is also tried and true. Mark russo is another that comes to mind, all incredible players.
David Sanborn is my Mentor. He is the reason I started playing. Check out Smile from the Live Album Straight to The Heart. Took a master class from Mr. Sanborn last year over Zoom and seen him 5 times live. And yes Lenny Picket is amazing as well. He was just a kid pretty much when he played with Tower of Power.
my favorite effect on altissimo is split tone! So many great players master the altissimo range but I'd like how Joel Frahm just play normally up there
Many Thanks Scott, you improved my altissimo tone a whole lot. I have never been able to reliably get alt A on a mk6 tenor with a no baffle new O Link. Works on other horns but not my Mk6. Have a tight leak free horn and good facing mp. Am I going to need a higher baffle and Do you think alt tone is usually fuller with big chamber low baffle mouthpieces. Your teaching is an inspiration to all of us that are stumbling around in the wilderness.
Saludos desde Guatemala.disculpe no entiendo inglés,pero sería de mucha ayuda de cuando esté hablando que se traduce en enpañol en letras en la pantalla como en las películas gracias.
I’m surprised that I haven’t seen people mention Gerald Albright’s altissimo register! For me it’s the consistency of his tone throughout the whole instrument which makes him stand out

All are killing players!
Thank you! I love Ernie Watt's use of altissimo notes, the way he uses big leaps into the altissimo and then back out of it.
Ernie Watts!! I haven't heard his name in a while. He's a killer!
Thanks!
An amazing solo and a great tip, thank you!

Yeah, David Sanborn is great! He was one of my first favorite saxophone players.
Michael Brecker and Boney James on Tenor having super clean Altissimo.

Yeah the split tone can give you a really nice flavor. Joel is a great player!!

Yeah, his is crazy good! And he does those huge octave jumps with ease.
hi Scott Great Video! is it best to start out on Alto or tenor?
I suggest alto, but they are pretty similar, just alto is a little easier to get started on.
I like Michael brecker’s altissimo
I like everything about Michael Brecker!
I think one of the best saxophone players with use of altissimo has to be Marc Russo he’s so good
I need to check him out!
I’m a fan of Eric Marienthal’s altissimo notes
Yeah, he's great!
I think Eric Marienthal altissimo is my favorite

Kinda sounds like you may be playing a synthetic reed which also kinda pops the altissimo, not sure but sounds it
Yeah, I play synthetic reeds - Legere American Cut 2.25
soundz like an air wrench at a tire shop 😆
😂🤣😂🤣 That wasn't my desired outcome, but maybe I stole that sounds while I was waiting at Jiffy Lube.
