Really awesome camera, I'm still not sure which I prefer, this or the Makina, not that it matters since neither is in the budget! But the fact that the 7's are rather expensive on eBay says a lot about how highly regarded this camera is and its easy to why. But any camera is only as good as the person using it and in your hands it takes wonderful images! Great work George!

Hey guys, first of all congrats for everything that you do, the channel, the zine, the work. Everything is just so enjoyable and really beautifully crafted. I have a quick advice to ask, I'm gonna buy a Mamiya 7II from a private seller in a couple of day, with a 43mm, a 150mm and 80mm. Everything is apparently in perfect like-new conditions. I'm gonna meet and check the gear in a couple of days, what should I check to see if everything is right? And what price would you say is reasonable for the body plus the 3 lenses? Thanks so much !!

Hi there, may I ask a technical question ? I am new to the 7 and I had the problem that the shutter wouldn’t fire after I switched lenses mid Roll. The shutter was cocked before switching to be able to rotate the security curtain. I opened their curtain after I switched lenses of course. Because it did not fire I had to wind it once more and so did waste one shot on the film - after that it worked properly with the new lens on...

I don't think the film curtain is there so much for the purpose of changing film, although I guess you can use it as such. Its moreso for changing lenses.

A close cousin and great camera is the Koni Omega Rapid. Originally designed in America for a WW2 military camera after the war it cost too much to make a civilian version in the US so they had it made in Japan originally by Konica. Mamiya eventually bought the production of the camera from Konica and it was a big influence on all the Mamiya 6x7 press cameras. Plus having a bolt action camera is just cool. :)

Hey mate, nice video and images. FYI the dark curtain is to protect the film when changing lenses. Can't hurt to use it to protect the rear lens element though, especially on the 43mm.
The 210mm seems like it doesn't make sense on paper, but it's actually a fantastic lens for landscape photography, used at infinity most of the time. Not much use for portraits though.
