The Chinese don`t even want them or can afford to buy them. There are video from China where there are lots with new cars sitting and rotting because no one wants them or can`t even afford to buy them because 6 thousand dollar cars are too expensive to buy. Why? Because the wages in China have people living in poverty.6 thousand might be as well 100 thousand dollars. The CCP wants you to support their military and communist leadership.

If you consider that a car is really just transportation. Than you also might consider all the bells and extras aren't really necessary. They actually spent more time being parked. In the 70s a small economy car called the Ford Pinto sold for $2,100. A truck for $1,800. Mass production should have those cars selling now for about $20.00. The prices of cars in America have nothing to do with costs, only growing the profits and what the auto industry can get away with. China's cheap car is a wake up call to the greedy corporations, and I may just buy one myself. Why not? A new car for only $6,000. Absolutely! This is simple marketing, a car with a super low price will bring in massive sales that will allow it to be profitable. Easier to sell one million for one dollar, than one for one million dollars.

For all the critics out there. There are high end and low end cars from China. This one obviously targets people who are struggling economically. I can't understand why all the criticism as there are millions of single moms, students, people who are on hard times that would benefit from an option to own their own car. It would give many of these people a car when they wouldn't otherwise have a car, or an affordable payment that will not crush their bank account. No one has to be snooty about this. The U.K. government could make electric cars 20% cheaper by not stealing from the customer (Value Added Tax).
This would reduce the cost by some 7 to 10 thousand pounds per car as an average.
And that is just for starters.
Don’t get me started on how much the U.K. government steals from car owners for providing absolutely zero in return. Whether it be duty on petrol, licensing taxes, tax on insurance, vat on parking bills etc. etc. The U.K. government is a permanent parasite for everybody who has to get to work to earn an honest day’s pay.
And all of this is in addition to income taxes, taxes on savings and taxes on money inherited.
The U.K. government exists to ensure people cannot ever have a decent standard of living or ever become wealthy.
And without any confirmation of the British people, they use our money to send arms and other aid to the most corrupt and dubious government to assist America’s economic proxy wars.

But we have state, city, unemployment, social security, Medicare, property, sales, fuel, capital gains, electricity, water, food, corporate, retirement and retirement savings, death and other taxes the government can slip in when it can think of it. I once calculated how high taxes can get in NYC and that tax rate can top 70% if you count all these taxes. Very difficult to save with all these taxes in the US.

Also the production methods used by the traditional manufacturers / assemblers combined with the unions are not allowing cheaper vehicle production. This in America and other countries combined with the monopolistic practises of distributorships adds at least 20% so when if this is dispensed with and better production methods the manufacturers could produce cars at 40-50% better price and probably better profit for the manufacturer. This is a system of inefficiency forced and maintained by the industry giants in collusion with the politicians and unions in a triangle of monopolistic practises. To some extent the oil companies are helping prevent change.

I would surely buy one of these small ones to zip around town. Chinese cars are as reliable as american. My brother bought a new Form F150 4dr with the eco-boost motor motor, which was the onlt bigger option than diesel, and the engine went out 3 times, and fortunately he got a credit under the lemon law and bought a car that didn't have eco-boost. When we went looking for a new explorer 4x4 for my wife, the 2020's just came out onto the showroom floor but only offered the eco-boost engine. We found a 2019 new unsold base unit in their inventory that had the regular old style V6 engine and though she doesn't put many miles on it, except 3 trips taking our son snowboarding - hence why we got 4x4, after 3 years, she only has 12K+ miles on it. It run great. But we live in the desert SW USA, so sunshine is never a problem and so I'd love to get an electric with a couple PA speakers with a taped sound of a blown 396 Hemi! That would get me some wide eyes and the stoplight!

But they are compared with ICE cars so it is n improvement, an electric car is more energy efficient than an ICE car because it looses less of it's ower because of fewer moving parts and power for power is cheaper discounting battery price and as these are becoming cheaper so much better in the future. Don't forget the first ICE engined cars could not manage 70 MPG but development got it this far.

There is a shortage of cars in America. Thus, cars are very expensive in America. Furthermore, the cars are not EVs. So Americans dream of cheap EVs from China. If only Americans can buy cheap Chinese EVs, we would be ecstatic. But Americans need the EVs to have at least 80mph top speed. And a decent range of at least 200 miles, preferably at least 300 miles. Also Americans prefer privacy, so a bright moon/sun roof is not really desirable. And a good surround sound audio system is a must.

@@stubones There is not a shortage of expensive cars that cost an arm and a leg. And these cars are plentiful. If you have the money, you can buy 100 of them anytime. And if you want a legacy manufacturer EV, you will have to pay even more for them than an ICE car. Thus, expensive cars are plentiful, and the car dealers' lots are full of them. However, if you want an affordable car, they don't exist, let alone being short in supply. If you want an affordable Chinese EV, forget about it, not available. You can only dream about it, cursing at the USA government, and still keep dreaming more of being able to buy a cheap Chinese EVs. Some Americans have lots of money and loves to donate them to the car manufacturers in buying a car. The rest of the Americans don't have that kind of money to donate to legacy car manufacturers and curse at the lack or shortage of affordable cars, but not just cars. We want cheap Chinese EVs because they are affordable, cheap to drive, doesn't pollute the environment and alleviates global warming. So we do dream of cheap Chinese EVs.

If you like communism and how they treat their people go ahead. But a Toyota or Honda has their cars assembled and parts made here in Ohio USA by American workers. They might be owned by Japanese companies but at least some of the money spent on them stays in the USA.

There is a Prototype (lab) phase, an Alpha phase (extensive in-house & test track evaluation); Beta phase (wider area testing with possible limited release to employees or contractors). Even if the time-lapse for "filling up" can be solved, how does our ability to provide energy and our grid system, cope with the added demand? Nuclear power would answer, but we won't do that
because the government can't control the fossil fuel industry that calls the shots. This will work well for China because the government controls Industry. Therefore, until the USA develops a government "For" the people, we can't compete with China. Just throw in the towel. Our doom is incorporated into our operating system.
