I love Steven and his style of drumming. I remember him saying in an interview that Matt "stole" his parts for some of the UYI songs that he had already worked on and recorded demos for. I think that came from a place of bitterness about the whole situation, and maybe Steven didn't realize at the time that the parts he wrote were so good and served the songs so well that Matt couldn't help but use them. I definitely think, considering the circumstances, he should feel honored that his parts were used and that they made the record. I have a lot of respect for Matt - solid drummer.
Cool facts there about Steven's drum parts for Illusion. I've never heard that and I'm a GNR junkie. I haven't read Steven's book yet, but I have read Duff's and Slash's. I actually have Steven's book, I just haven't started reading it yet. I have a lot of respect for Matt, as well. I just think Steven's style fit Guns N' Roses better. Especially the Appetite for Destruction songs, and the sleazy sounding songs on Illusion like Dust N Bones, and Double Talkin Jive. Well, I guess the ones Izzy wrote and sang. Bad Obsession, too. Along with some other older songs from Illusion that they had lying around for years. The original lineup of Guns was undeniable though. That's one of the greatest rock bands ever. I think the fact that they didn't last long just makes it cooler. I don't think they would be as cool if they had lasted a long time. I think when Steven got fired, that was the first blow to knocking Izzy out. I think that troubled Izzy. I love Izzy. My favorite Guns N' Roses songs are the ones he sang.
Well virtually the entire Illusion albums were written at the same time if not older than Appetite. If I recall You Could Be Mine and Coma was the only ones that Matt was actually part of as far as coming up for drum parts. Coma was I think recorded on the spot. I'm not so sure about Estranged though.
Holy crap!!! Omg!!! Amazing. Being a fan for sooo long and never hearing this, is just unbelievable. But yet i love it. Especially as it is from the rehearsals for the UYI albums, which for me, are just pure perfection
Holy smokes this is super fun! I've always liked the album version but compared to this, the album version is almost over-thought out. This kind of has a jangly fun jungle vibe to it.
Steven did a whole use tou illusion record. When Matt came in the band ,Acl decided to record all Steven parts. Also Axl put lower volume on all Izzy guitar part. Thats why you can hear good izzy on illusion records. Spaghheti was recorder in same time as illusion songs. After that Axl the boss delete all Izzy part and let the Gilby to play on record.
i've heard that this tune was a strong contender fer "APPETITE" but that the producer thought it was too long and it didn't fit the rest of the album hence why they left it off. i'd say the fact there is a demo with STEVEN A. playing on it is pretty good proof that's probably true. and yeah i know he was a pain in the ass drug addict and became impossible to deal with after awhile (the others could at least still function i guess) but i always thought STEVEN A. had a much greater funk groove goin' on than ever did MATT S. (he's good too but always felt he was a bit generic in his approach) this demo showcases that quite well i think.
Cheaper to keep him. I never heard Brain Mantia but I heard his work in Primus. But I personally prefer Steven and Matt. I’d be ok with Frank if he split the shows with Steven.

@@estrangeibanez3051axl in st louis said that you could be mine is considered for appetite
Matt didn’t steal Steven’s parts. He added to them & made them way better. Adler had a better feel/groove, but Sorum was the better drummer overall.
I wouldn't be surprised that the others asked Matt to play basically Steven's parts
I really these demo’s. Steven has a really swinging drumstyle, and to hear these classic songs played by him makes them sound really good. Thanks!
With Adler onboard, G'N'R were complete. Bit by bit they felt apart. Now we have The General, which sounds.. dire.
Damn, whole other vibe, fast and bad ass.
This has a Brownstone vibe that I never paid attention to or noticed on the officially released version
thanx for pointing this out, I hear it now too
What a groove. Gnr wasn't the same energy after Steve was booted. Don't get me wrong love the uyi albums.

Suenan todos excelente. Se nota mucho mejor en como le pega a los parches en su batería,es único.
steven is the heart of gnr they never sound the same whitout him i like all this demos real gnr vibes🤘🤘😁❤️
✌🏻💪🏼🌹💀🌹
I’ve never heard this. Pretty damn awesome. One of my favorite songs and guitar riffs.

Rehearsals 1989 there's also Don't Damn Me, Garden Of Eden and Dust N Bones
Where?? I need to hear those!

KEEP RELEASING THESE!!!
Imagine Axl getting served this and gotta make lyrics for it x) Killed it though!
Even though this is just a demo, it's actually better than the recorded version! Go Steven!
No it isn't
So so so sweet
It has that Rocket Queen vibe. So cool
Imagine how great these albums could have been.
I knew he learnt the songs .
At least learning and playing them.......jamming.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Unreal.
Bring Steven back
He’s not the same anymore. He had a stroke a little while ago
Taking a moment to appreciate the bass line here!!
Duff is a melodic king
very cool
At the start, the beat feels like a bit like The Song Reminds The Same.Good lord what a beat.

We need a "best of" Use your illusion played by Adler e without keyboards
Kinda sounds like Rocket Queen and Mr. Brownstone.
Matt sorum muito superior!
Steve has a more rock n roll sound and style. Matt has a more heavy metal sound to him. Frank has neither.
Frank is awful
Sorum was obviously technically a better/stronger drummer but that doesn't mean he sounds better with GnR...with Steven i can hear a little Brownstone
Who is bantu2 home step
I consider myself a purist and I have never heard these so I am a little hesitant. Anyone know the source? Are these the Chicago demos?
Mates rehearsal '89
Matt was way too robotic. Frank is hopeless. Brain was the real deal. Brain and Steven are the best man that ever were behind the GnR kit
Totally agree. I can't believe they keep Ferrer all this time: no feeling, plays too fast, shitty fills, drums sound awful, etc...
100%
Cheaper to keep him. I never heard Brain Mantia but I heard his work in Primus. But I personally prefer Steven and Matt. I’d be ok with Frank if he split the shows with Steven.
Muito melhor com Steven
UYI would be so much better with Steven...
Matt, imo has the better intro in YCBM, and a little bit better Back Off Bitch.
How do you know this is Steven Adler playing? The guy of this channel has a GnR cover band...
Does not sound like slash duff or Adler to me, it’s good but sounds cheap
@@johnnyw230 if that doesn't sound like Slash, I'm not sure what does.
You can’t teach swing
Matt took it and got it better.
no
Difrent style...
Matt robotized the whole UYI, I really dislike his drumming. Damn blunt and dull
